Just race your race and you'll finish. Don't push your self too much on the first lap. Once you get into a nice rythmn you won't even be thinking about how tired you are. Also, the less time you spend off the quad getting it off trees the less tired you will be, so pick good lines and if slowing down is what you need to do in order to get through a section clean do it.

Nick you must be in good shape because I felt like I was going to die half way into my second lap then the burn went numb and I just pushed until the race was over. I just can't belive how out of shape I have gotten over the past two years. I am working on getting back in shape though.:macho

No way am I in shape, but you just get used to racing. I pretty much know I'm gonna get arm pump like the second lap, but if I keep pushing it, it goes away and then I get real comfortable on the bike. Being in shape helps so much. At our practice track I can keep up with my brother and 2 other riding buddies (all of which are pretty fast) but then I start fading and have to just run my pace, while they pull away. As you race more you understand what your body is going to do and then you either slow down or keep pusing it.

well tresspassing is a misdemeaner and the max fine is $500, but my 4 wheeler is registered and I have the registration tag, and I do carry written premission from my neighbor and the guy that owns 90% of the property behind my house. And whats been happening around here recently is, if you have the registration tags, the cop will just run ur #'s and let you go if its all good.

Yeah if you know most of the land you ride on you don't have a problem. I run an aftermarket frame so there aren't any numbers and have way too much money in my quad to get it taken away.

Well, i tell ya. suprisingly, i feel really good. i have a minor ache on my right thigh but other than that i feel really good. it might be because i popped a few advil this morning. lol.

i think i was 14 or 15 overall but am not sure. i got 4 laps in.
When i saw the white flag i almost pulled off and say, "Tho hell with this" but i didnt want a DNF on my first HS. That would not have been a good start so i pressed on. The first three laps i had to make at least 3 stops because my arms whewre just killing me and i couldnt hang on to the handlebars. but in the last lap i wanted to make it through without stopping and i made it , barely that is. :D i was damn happy seeing that checkered flag but almost sh&t when the guy said that i had one more lap to go. he was kidding of course but i was to tired to notice.

In short, it was one of the coolest things i have ever done and will continue to race.

it was pretty cool haning out with all you guys.

Hey I think Pappy posted that it was 87deg yesterday!!! I belive it because I drank two gallons of liquids yesterday and I still am thirsty. I lost 6 pounds and that is a lot when you only weigh 158. I figure that is one way to get the waist size down. I think that once I get in shape again and soften up the suspension I might at least be able to hang with some of you guys. Also I need to learn not to blow my wad on the first lap!!! Wow that was a big mistake. I just can't tell you guy how much fun that race was, even almost going over the bars in front of a buch of guys. How that hell I recovered from that one is still a mystery to me. What a great time and great people. I think we should try to make something out of this going to the rest of the races.

so here you guys are! I was looking for y'all on the racing section. I pretty much sucked yesterday...only good thing is I feel good today! I got a flat on the second lap. I tried to keep going but kept running off the track...Anyway, I knew I was not going to catch back up to the front bunch so I gave in. By the time I got back to the pit to change it I was so pissed I could have *&%$%#. Our pit crew wasn't there...just the wife and son. They are not much help. By time I got calmed down enough to start wrenching on the tire myself, I said piss on it, threw the wrenches down and layed on the nice cool ground under the trailer and relaxed. I eventually walked around and watched the race.
Cletus, I think you were right next to me on the table top when I almost bit it big. I launched it and got crossed up in the air:eek2: I landed and rode out of it somehow. That is when I realized I had the flat:mad:
Good to meet you Seatec, greghall and your buddy's. Good to see Pappy out there sweatin it up! I have stock rims w/ razr's up front and ITP alum. beadlocks w/ razr2's on the back. I have never had a problem with the fronts. I have the reinforcement rings for the rears sitting on the work bench. They will definately be on the rear rims before I race again:grr: The insides of both rears are pretty chewed up. Greg I am glad I ain't the only one that got the baboone ***, man it is sore back there. 250rxc nice new toy but now I wont be able to tell when you are coming up behind me anymore!!

Hey I have the hipers too and they were the best money spent so far but I have to soften that damn suspension up. I took suck an *** wooping out there. I had the preload jacked up way to high and could have went full soft in the rear. Live and learn.

I am not sure where I can ride this weekend but I want to be able to take my boys wherever it is. I wouldn't mind Raush or Tomahawk.

Woah.....JC how did the nats go. I havent seen anything posted in here yet(haven't really looked either) How did the D-7 guys do??? I got too caught up in the squirl chasers group to remember

It has maybe 10-15 rides on it and has never been wrecked or seen any big air. it has front razrII with Baja wheels.
GYT-R Carbon slip on. Rethal 7/8 bars. This quad is taken care of for sure. i know the guy!
He wants $5k for it.

No shipping or parting the quad out.

you know, i know i am on a Honda based site but don't people get a little tired of putting in their little jabs about the YFZ not being mechanically sound? it gets a little tiring to hear that somebody had absolutely no mechanical problems after switching from YFZ to TRX. Now, i am the first to admit that for that particular person that may very well be true and that the YFZ had its share of minor infancy problems. But it still not very nice to keep emphasizing that point while other riders have hardly any problems with the YFZ. I hope i don't get flamed for this but it's an observation about little comments that are being made here and there.

Oh well, i just have to grow thicker skin i guess. :D

i look at it like this.

if someone posts only that "the yfz is junk" or "the yfz falls apart" yet doesnt follow it up with factual first hand knowledge i figure its just someone who has no life and can only find the negative in anything.(sometimes i search the member and usually alot of thier posts are negative) maybe lack of sex...small pecker syndrome or just plain ignorance is the cause.

if someone posts a real issue im all ears. if its man made it will and can break. and yamaha hasnt had the track record honda has so some BS is too be expected.

Man most of the people ask or start the stupidist threads most of them are kids,MACHINES break no matter who makes them I work on Dodge trucks they have there proplems Chevy has there proplem same arguement,or chevy vs. ford who cares XC racing & MX is ALL RIDER NOT WHAT BRAND BIKE YOU HAVE THE BIKE IS NOT GOING TO WIN THE RACE FOR YOU!!!YOU WILL!!If you mantain the bike it will finish. I'm a Honda man but I started Racing XC on a BANSHEE & never had a DNF because on my merticuless preperation of my bike when everybody elses Banshee would blow up.Im tired of Honda guys craping on the YFZ & the MAGAZINES & EVERYBODY WHO HATES THE TRX because it dons'nt have the e-button & in alittle slower in stock form than the YFZ.The YFZ should have won bike of the year last year & the TRX should win this year but The TRX will not win because of all the hype that the new R was expected to be (god could not have made the bike to live up to the hype)thats my 2 cents

As for quads being equal. I am in absolute agreements.
I don't even care when somebody blatantly says that either the YFZ or the TRX sux. because is very apparent the person in question is a dumb*****. it's the little jabs that sting. you guys are right though. shrug it off and move on.

As for this weekend. what are we doing?

i want somebody to set up a race where a team of two 1 mx'er and 1 Xc'er) do respectively one lap on the track and one in the woods.

So, the XC'er would do a woods loop and then when he crosses a certain line the MX'er takes off and does like 2 laps on the MX track or enough laps to equal the distance and or energy used to do the XC loop. wadda ya think? see any logistical problems?

other than the winy ***** mx'er complaining how their riding is much more difficult. OK bring it on YLW. lol

You won't have a problem hanging with me at Budds. District &'s classes need restructuring. They really need to change somthing A is just pratice for Andy & poor Jesse is made to run A,2 stroke is dead. They need maybe A,VET,B,C (any kind of bike in any class 2 or 4 stroke)or Really make the top 5 or so from last year move to A or VET(if over 30)something needs to happen.

I agree on the classes. If they had A, B, C, and Vet classes the competition would be more even. I think it would also help improve rider ability. The only way you're going to get faster is by going out there and battling with people. The more people equally matched the greater the competition.

Greg, easy.
First create a small picture of you quad.
Then go to the user cp area on this website.(you will find the button for that to-wards the top of this page. once in the user cp area select the Edit profile options button. to-wards the bottom of that page there will be an place that says change avatar. Select that button and that will take you to the avatar page. select the Custom avatar option and then click the browse button to select the picture you want to use as your avatar. the browse button will take you to your own hard drive and you have to go to the right folder on your computer where the picture resides.

I got my dyna ignition today, I was running on curve 4 all day long and I didnt notice anything, I was pissed and took it to my neighbors, he said read the freekin instructions (well I found out that curve 4 was stock) Well it seems that curve 2 rips on the bottom end, and it puts the rev limiter up to almost 10,000, So I got more top end also. In a few weeks he's gonna put it on the dyno and make an ignition curve thats even more advanced, I think the most they do with this is 2 degrees.

I know most of you guys are from balitmore county and parts of harford county. Besides the track do any you guys ride in southern PA or Cecil County. I live by the Conowingo dam. There is a lot more land out here, so there is no reason there are not places out here. Every place is in Bel Air or Fallston. If there were places out here less moron will ride out here. Eric. dont listen to them. buy the YFZ i told you about for that special friend price. lol Do not go to the dark side!

Greg, i just bought some Hi-Five cab clearance lights for my Truck. Are they hard to put in? Mybe i should ask eric cause he is always messing around with electrical car stuff. Probably need eric to crawl on the cab and drill the holes anyway because i would probably dent the sh$t out of the roof.

Ericthered rdr

I would buy a 450 in a heart beat if racing was my only concern but I like the e-botton and have gotten spoiled buy having reverse. When I go joy riding with my boys it is perfect for me plus it is smooth and has the most comfortable seat I have ever sat on. I am in no hurry to jump up in power either. I have come close to getting the hole shot in the last two races and all I have is a full pipe and jetting. I like both of the 450's but neither are the quad for me. Neither has reverse (which I have used in both races and alot just riding around) the honda has no e-button and the Yam is not set up for a guy as small as me, 155 5'6" plus it has the most uncomfortable seat. I would have to spend some money in either of the two to get them to work with my size and weight. I could pick out differences all day long on pro's and conn's of each but I must say I really enjoy the quad I have and don't mind spending some extra to turn it into the quad one of the manufactures should have built.

Oh and all the machine in the world ain't chit if you aint got the stamina to race it..... that is my main concern right now. I will be in excelent shape in 90 days mark my words. I just wish I wouldn't have waited so long to realize I am so out of shape:macho

Eric my boy I'll just let you ride my bike if want to see what smooth is.As for the E-button DON'T STALL it I only stalled it twice during the race & it was fatigue that caused it,Man that R is smooth & comfortable I'll let you ride nexst time we get together ,Seatec rode it he will tell you how it felt it s even better know with the clikers adjusted soft.Reverse is never needed:devil:

Fine. be like that! lol

Really, the TRX is very smooth right out of the box. something i hope i will have to once the Dirisi shocks come back. i am seriously thinking about the GYTR +1 arms because i can them adjust the camber a little to suit my riding.
A +4oz flywheel wouldnt hurt my quad either.

YLW. i really do like mx. not as much as XC but enough to want to do a race even if it is to build stamina. Can you sketch me a typical race day? how many races and time intervals?

I am wondering what i would have to do to my yfz to use it for XC and mx? shocks and wheels would be it i guess.
Maybe some +1 a-arms and a slighly wider axle. dont want to have to take arms and axles plus shocks out everytime i ride XC or MX.

YLW400
04-22-2004, 10:33 AM
Sure man, no problem....

Get there between 7-8, and go register..Unload, check the practice schedule...I know at Budds we usually practice at 10:20....I'm not sure what this weekend will bring though..You will run practice for about 15-20 minutes...as much, or less as you want....Come off of the track, do whatever until your moto is up...Typically quads are later in the day, don't ask why, that's just the way it is..lol Run what they call 4 laps...basically 3 1/2 though...and that's it until next moto...You run two motos a day, excluding practice...I would say anywhere between 15 and 25 different motos..........You have alot of time between 1st and 2nd motos though.... Like a few hours.......I think I covered it all...lol

you could probably run some MX with +1......But obviously the wider you are, the faster you can carve turns.....Do HS guys run aftermarket axels? What kind of tires are you running?

I love xc racing, but it's pretty nice to air it out every once and a while. Also you gotta love the speed factor. I'm thinking about showing up on Sunday but just to have fun, I'm not too competitive out there on the mx track, but I like the atmosphere at mx races. You get to watch some pretty sick riders!

Yeah I keep the big tires on that way those mx boys don't expect too much from ya;)

My buddy Brian and I raced a mx race up at Tomahawk last Nov. and you should have seen some of the looks they where giving to his oversized clarke tank on his 400ex. They couldn't understand why he needed that much gas. :p

with my weight i should turn the clickers up though don't you think?

YLW. i run 22 in front and 20 in back RazrII all around. i could put the stock yfz tires . i thik they are smaller and more suitable. for my ridng style (if thats what you call it) i think i would do fine with the stockers.
