YLW400
02-25-2004, 06:14 AM
Well :blah: lol

Hey, this might get your all's attention.....Not the weekend, but the weekend of March 7th, there is a D-7 race over at The landing!

Also, Seatec, are you still looking for a toyhauler? I found some pretty cool looking ones here in Dover last night. Reasonably priced too..They don't look like the normal ones. THis one was a black V-nose. Kinda looks like like just an enclosed trailer with windows..lol It doens't have the paneling like exterior walls that most do, looks really sharp.. 24' for like 16,000......

Ericthered rdr
02-25-2004, 06:37 AM
how many did you buy JC????????

Seatec I will see what yesterdays precip did to sugar hill and give a report tonight for you and Greg. It looks like I might work on Saturday and ride on Sunday with the little dudes, so keep me posted on your plans for Sunday.

seatec
02-25-2004, 06:57 AM
YLW, 16K. hmm not bad. sure beats 40k i was quoted on the fiver from fleetwood called the "GearBox" I might have to do the trailer type first before going big like D & B.

I think Rausch is a go Eric. SInce i dont have theballs to ride with J.C in the budds race.:(

YLW400
02-25-2004, 07:15 AM
Eric, I bought one for you, one for Seatec, one for Honda, and one for me..Greghall, you want one too?:D lol

It might be worth checking out anyway Seatec.........I like the looks of them better than the others....imho..

I think you all need to come race Budds.....It would be an awesome time. No time like the present!:D

Honda5
02-25-2004, 07:24 AM
I think I'll be at the landing on 3-7-04 for the race (hope I can find my D-7 recept )
by the way is this the longest thread on ex riders yet?

seatec
02-25-2004, 07:29 AM
i might be there (budds) stay tuned.

I just talked to RTSE440 and he is sick as a dog and he most likely wont be going to Rausch or anywhere for that matter.

What am i to do.

YLW: what are the pre-requisites for racing at budds?
AMA+D7.
what needs to be on the quad? number plates and kill switch?

seatec

YLW400
02-25-2004, 07:46 AM
We should suggest it to Harlen :D

Honda, if you don't have it, send them an e-mail to the link that's on here ASAP, and tell them you never received a card...Very nice guy to deal with...

Seatec, you need AMA, D-7 cards.....Number plates with contrasting colors..white on black, or vice versa...These need to be displayed on both rear fenders, a number plate on the rear of the quad, a number plate on the front of the quad (or the numbers on the front nosepiece like i have it), I am not sure if Nerfs are mandatory, but you have them anyway...Kill switch..........I think that covers it..............

seatec
02-25-2004, 08:01 AM
i dontthink i can do the kill switchbefore the weekend. i guess dirt first would have the number plates for me. how do i get a number anyway?
I think my D7 ran out but i can renew at the track i think.

YLW400
02-25-2004, 08:15 AM
A kill switch should take no time man....Heck ,they might even sell them at the track. Your number should be on your D-7 card....you did get a competition card, didn't you? If it did run out, yea you can get it at the track.

seatec
02-25-2004, 08:24 AM
Nope, i never received my card either. I just used the stub to ride in the HS competition. So i guess this sunday is off for me then or don't i need the card and number right away?. Damn D-7. i hear that a lot of peole never get their cards and have to beg to get them. whats up with that?

Anyway, Pappy seems to like this kill switch setup from Baldwin (http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=91583) . Maybe ill get that! for the Next D7 race at the Landing?

YLW400
02-25-2004, 09:06 AM
That seems nice....don't have to worry about splicing any wires pr anything...Looks good dude!! Have you sent D-7 money yet? If you haven't, maybe you should wait until Easton and just get a membership there to insure you have it, ya' know? If you wanted to I assume you could show them the stub that they gave you last time, and maybe they would assign you a number....It's your call man, it seems too rushed and stuff right now, maybe it would be better to just hit Easton..

seatec
02-25-2004, 09:14 AM
I am sensing the same thing YLW. i think ill sit this one out and hit easton. Good thing about that is that i know the track better and maybe get a practice session in before then.

One question. if i check off quad mx and HS mx do they need an extra 3 bux or is the extra 3 bux just for an extra card as an spare card. feeling a little dumb here.

YLW400
02-25-2004, 09:18 AM
Exactly......I got 2 races back to back, or I would be over there next weekend practicing...lol

seatec
02-25-2004, 09:25 AM
Good for you! I think i might go ver there next weekend do the intermediate track all day and get familiar with it.
THanx for all the info on what to get and do. ill be bending your ear some more on how to prep for the race. i am a bit worried about my rzrII tires not being ideal for the mx racing. i had a hard time slidnig them thorugh the turns witch in turn made my arms very tired trying to steer the bike thorugh the turns. should i get different tires or maybe thorugh the stock tires on for now.

YLW400
02-25-2004, 09:33 AM
Anytime man, just hope I helped a little bit:D I kinda went into it blind, but met Delaware152 at my first race, and he showed me th ropes throughout the season. He and his dad (my coach)..lol As far as tires, I am not sure. I just bought a set of Holeshots MXR's. They have a slightly softer compound which may help... I am not real familiar with the Razr's though. I know that it was probably a bad day at Easton to compare tires with all of the mud and stuff though..

Delaware152
02-25-2004, 09:41 AM
Seatec..If you are only wanting to race a few mx's I wouldn't even get a district card unless they make you. If you already have an ama or atva that will probaly be ok. I raced for 4 or 5 years and never had a district card b/c I wasn't worried about points and it saved a couple bucks. With your tires..what size are your wheels. I have some used turf tamers and holeshots. I will sell cheap.

YLW400
02-25-2004, 09:47 AM
you heading out around the same time Delaware? 6 or so?

Delaware152
02-25-2004, 09:55 AM
Yeah. I'll probaly get there around 8:00. That way I can see if they have changed anything but I don't think they have.

YLW400
02-25-2004, 09:56 AM
They better not of! I don't like that one little "S" turn section they put down at the bottom of the one downhill...

Delaware152
02-25-2004, 10:14 AM
I like that. It's a good place to make some passes.

seatec
02-25-2004, 10:16 AM
Delware. thanx ofr the offer but i am one of those guys who has to buy NEW. It's a disorder, really.:D
As for the D7 card. Last time i did a HS at BUdds i think they insisted on having a D7 or pay for it right there. I didnt think it was an option. They certainly made it seem that way.

YLW400
02-25-2004, 10:17 AM
Delaware, do you mean it's a good place for me to get passed?? lol:D

Delaware152
02-25-2004, 11:15 AM
Seatec..It all depends on the person at sign up. I guess I was lucky. I would even pay attention to which lady was asking and which one wasn't or talk to them and they would forget to ask. It would piss other people off that had to buy one and I didn't. lol

Hey does your wife have a single sister because I want to trade mine in for one that lets me buy quads and stuff like you do. Allthough I do have 4 kids so I guess as long as they have all the toys they want I am just as happy.

seatec
02-25-2004, 07:09 PM
trust me. you do not want her sister. i got the pick of the litter. hehe.

anywa. i just talked to my neighbor and he said they are also cracking dowen on riding at sugar hill. he thinks so anyway. truth to this you think?

deleware I might be interested in those old tires I'm working on Gilberts old 250r trying to get it in good enough shape for a back-up bike but they will have to be cheap the wife cut off all the extra spending now that we got the camper.(but I did get my dominator axle ;) )

not to sure how they can crack down on anyone for riding on legal private propety???

I went there today and nothing looked like it had changed. I guess there is only one way to find out and that is to go there on Satuday and see if people are still riding. If there is a proble the guy that lives there would stop anyone before they could get the ride off of there truck.

Man guys, dont tell me the cops might show up,new bike dont want to get a ticket or anything like that I was there at sugar hill sat. & sun. checking it out looked like alot of teenage kids riding there every thing looked cool but Ishould of gone back sunday late afternoon to check, hope its cool sat.Ill get there at 9 am to check it out.

Ericthered rdr
02-25-2004, 09:02 PM
when you get there go down the hill and into the middle turn right and follow that to the red clay hill and there is an enterance on the left hand side into the woods, go in about 75 yards and turn right go about 100 yards turn left follow the loop that is about 1.5 miles long. It should be tough near the stream so expect to get dirty. All I can say is try to find somebody that knows the trails so that you dont get discouraged. You will really like those Rzr2's there (you will need them)

So what are the plans for Sunday I want to take my boys out. I want them to get some time in so if anyone wants to go to the landing or rausch let me know. I just need somewhere kid friendly. What are you doing Seatec, D&B, others?

Honda5
02-26-2004, 04:12 AM
eric if you want to save some money but let the kids ride you are welcome to ride here It' s not real big(about the size of eastons beginner track)but every one that rides here seems to like it and it wont cost you $33 a person.

Ericthered rdr
02-26-2004, 05:04 AM
hmmm lets see $33x 3=$99 or a free day at the D&B Ranch...ok I am sold!! I'll get in touch with you later and work out the details. Got to go to work now. I'll send a pm tonight. I appriceate this.

seatec

Dude, dont tempt me. i could order the kill switch overnight.
If i pay for D7 at the track, how can they expect me to have a number already? is it an absolute necessity? i could just call out my name everytimg i pass the finish line.

Honda5
02-26-2004, 07:12 AM

seatec

02-26-2004, 07:40 AM
I raced a D-7 mx race at Tomahawk last fall and I just made up a number because I didn't have a mx card. Actually I just used electrical tape to make numbers on the fenders and nose. :D I think as long as you have a different number than anyone else and you can be identifed by it, no one cares.

seatec
02-26-2004, 07:42 AM
Sounds like my kind of numbering. For now anyway.

YLW400
02-26-2004, 08:47 AM
It's a big track, to block me, you'll have to lie down in the middle of it, and put your quad out there sideways:D lol

You could at least come spectate...lol Thats tough though...spectate, or go riding...hmmm..lol

seatec
02-26-2004, 08:52 AM
I just spread my arms and that is that. lol. i can envision me lying there with track marks over me. lol

I definately want to ride but where i dotn know yet. what i should do is practice for the Easton race.

YLW400
02-26-2004, 08:55 AM

Going to Easton would be your best bet....Get in touch with D-7 to get your number, and you will be set for next weekend!!

seatec
02-26-2004, 10:03 AM
who exactly did you email for that. did you pay over the phone or just sent in the form. i know you said before but im to lazy to look.

Hey D&B, riding in easton was awesome. very packed though.
They had to water around noon because i felt like i was in a mad max movie with all the dust and engines roaring,

it was a blast but it also made me realise that i am no were near ready for a moto.

WHat have you been doing today?

well it is official I sold the x machine, now I need a new ride so keep your eyes open for a good deal. I did get to ride today at my uncles place in Baltimore. I tore up his KX250 all day long:devil: what a beautiful day. my kids had a blast and that made my day. I really wanted to go to the D&B ranch but I had to get rid of the x machine while I had a buyer. I think my cousin got a good deal. Oh well I am going shopping online for a new toy

I am looking for a Bill Ballance replica for about ahhhh....$2500:blah:

I am looking for a Ex or Z that is not set up for MX. XC is my style. I don't want a fix me up, I just unloaded one. I want a turnkey quad that was taken care of, and it is easy for me to tell if it has. I am the kinda guy who canges the oil after ever ride. That is what I am looking for. I saw a perfect ex on here that a guy was selling in the south. He was a middle aged guy who just putted around on it and wanted to sell it because it was too fast. If I can find something like that around here it will be in my garage.

Eric the quadless

hey my four year old (turn 5 tommorrow) was ripping doughnuts on his fourwheeler today. It was awsome to see him go!!!!

Eric, you should find something for that price but you will have to look most EX's run from $2800 to $3000 + thats what I was going to buy till I got a killer deal on my 450R, stick with a HONDA.

Sounds like you had a good eide over at Easton Seatec...

All went well at Budds, noone got hurt, so that was good. Delaware had somw bike problems though. I was on the gate when they were racing, so I didn't get to see any of it:( From what I heard over the PA, it sounded like an awesome race though. I finally got my first win yesterday, I took a 2nd in the first moto, and a 1st in the 2nd for an overall of 1st, so that was really awesome. There were 34 in C class:eek2: we ran two divisions on 17....It seems like it is really growing around here........

Eric, it was quite easy to run peewee actually,:o I just registered while on my knees, and had some hot chick behind of me pretend she was my mommy to sign for me:devil:

I didn't do too much sailing Seatec..lol I know the one table top sent you real high though! I ALMOST cleared it one time, but my rearend hit and almost sent me over the bars, so I opted to just clear it like 3/4's of the way and jump off of the last portion of it. They really don't go for a time limit Seatec, it's mainly laps. Yesterday I "think" we went either 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 laps..Don't quote me on that though......I just keep riding until I see a checkered flag...lol

I tried to, but she smacked me:confused: I don't understand..lol

It was rough, decent amount of braking bumps....It isn't as tight and technical as Easton, so there are areas where you are just rippin' and holding on, whereas Easton, you are constantly turning or jumping or something. Budds is my favorite track I Would say. I did get tired at the end, but I think I could of went another 1, maybe even 2 hard laps....

SO budds like the the old school MX. big and wide open with some minor jumps.

What tires are you running on the back? Size wheel and tire?

My weekend of riding wasnt that geat. First of all Blue Diamond sucks, I drove all the way up there and didnt even ride due to the poor quad track and crazy prices. I drove back home and then headed to Budds for yesterdays race. I got a bad start in the first moto and finshed 9th. The second moto I crashed and spent the rest of the evening in the hospital with a busted knee and a broken nose. I should have just stayed home this weekend.

I no alot of people who got hurt doing MX just minor injuries in HS If I did MX Im sure I would have been hurt alot more,I only basicly wrecked twice hard enough to put me out of a race, one of those times was on the budds MX track off of the big mountain dew jump. That was in 3 years of racing.

The crash had nothing to do with jumping, I took a bad line to make a pass and hit a deep hole sending my bike end over end. The doctor said my knee is just severly bruised and swollen. It will probally take at least a week or two before I can walk on it. At least no cast and no surgery.

seatec
03-01-2004, 02:37 PM
it's pretty cool. they have an advance quad track and a mixed intermediate track thats pretty long. and has a variety of small jumps. They also have a lot of woods to ride in if you are into that. Warning. Its very rocky in the woods so don't bust a tire or bend a rim. Other than that and being a 2 1/2 hour trip for me it's a pretty nice place to ride.

kwatts400
03-01-2004, 02:40 PM
I forgot to mention that I got to ride a little Saturday morning at a friends house. It had some small hills, powerline trails, & an open field to drag race a little. I took the 250r so that I could jet the carb, but Butch at B & B seemed to have it set up perfect (I didn't have to change a thing). That bike runs awesome now with the 39mm kiehin on it! The 400ex shocks on the front made a big difference too. If I make it to Rausch this coming Sunday, it will be a full day for the 450r.

I saw the EX at newport('00-$2,800). John said he would cut me a good deal since I bought my boys bikes from him. I am really interested in one..its a z with kfx plastic on it. I just need to get the xtra $ for it, might take a couple of weeks.

Well I am having fun shopping but I would rather be riding.

pgregg hope you heal up soon I have crushed my nose before and it is no fun. I must say if there was no chance of injury I am not sure any of us would be in this sport. Avoiding injury is part of the challenge. Some days you win some days you loose. I talked to a guy who shattered his leg at Easton last year and from his story it made me think about how bad things can get. I just hope when my turn comes it isnt to bad this time. My last wreck put me in the hospital for a couple of days.

JC it was Tony from MD. it was a couple of days after Xmass. He said he just started walking without a cane last week. He also said he didn't remember anything besides unloading his quad and waking up and hearing a helicopter. I am hoping he can ride with us because he really seems like a nice guy. He is the one selling a LTZ 400 with brand new KFX plastic on it.

u gotta see how mines held in my shed, I can give u the keys and I bet you will still never figure out how to get it unlocked. The only way they can steal it is if they are very quiet (baby monitors, im a light sleeper) and if the break through the wall, but thats why Im having a container delivered may 1st.
My neighbor is friends with Bill Duty which is all of balti. cty officers boss. I had him ask him if they can shoot at you and he said they cant even point a gun at you unless they feel their life is in danger. I know better now though. I always go by entrances in 1st gear so if they do decide to jump out I can jump across the tracks and get away. around here the only time cops come is if people are driving on the roads, or if they park their trucks on the street.

anyways, let get back to talking about riding. banshee is almost together and I will be riding again in the next week or two......yippe! Did a new high comp top end, milled head, lightened flywheel, ported reed cages with carbon reeds, +3+1 arms, and shocks......cant wait

I was thinking about c 4-stroke open or something. What i like about HS is that you can just pull off when your tired and take a break. the race is so long. Wont be doing that in a moto.

At budds we try to park towards theleft in the corner where the trail comes out of the woods through a little berm and then goes back down in the woods. nice place to come out refuel and get back in.

went to Rausch today and we had a blast. best of all my boys rode all day long. they were so wiped out that when we left I was only on the road for 5 minutes and they were out cold. I really like the new toy. I can't wait to ride it again. lots of power..lots.
Rausch was awsome, tough ***** track. I just wish they would have taken 10 minutes to clean up the pee wee track today. Hell they spent hours grooming the MX tracks whats 10 minutes for our future riders. The other tracks were actually in very good shape considering how hard it rained over the past couple of days. Did anyone go to Easton? well I am trying to watch the Maryland game and get ready for the most awsome show on TV ever "The Saprano's". Hope everyone had an safe enjoyable weekend. Just FYI,
Chris (RTSE440) had a bit of an accident last Friday.
He took his YFZ for a spin on his land and went over this stupid jump he has in his back yard that has a mean little kick to it that can catch you off guard real easy. Well, the front dropped like a brick and plowed into the ground. he saved it by sliding way back and extending his arms but by doing that the impact went through his arm into his scapula and fractured it.
Lets wish him a speedy recovery.

He told me that when he was sitting in the wheel chair at in the Emergency room he was ready to sell his quad but i am happy to say that he came to his senses since then and is dying to ride again.

MOst important though. the quad is fine guys!!

Eric, Chris was muttering something about $5500 would've taken it. Dang, wish i was a ambulance chaser, would've had a cheap quad. lol
Greg, this issue sure has me thinking about how much i like soaring through the air and inevitable crash and break something.
Beside a bum knee most of my joints are in pretty good shape. I'd like to keep it that way. Truth is though, as YLW400 no doubt will point out, trees can cause serious damage too if you smack em at 50 mph.

oh well, will have to think about it but day-um, MX is so much fun!

O-well, I had a fun afternoon on Sunday. I found out what all the talk was about a smaller front sprocket on the 450r.
