Hey im not knocking the Durmax man. that is one kick *** diesel but i got a killer deal on this King Ranch fully loaded to the hilt monster. Just couldnt let it go. THe duramax got traded in and got some good money back. I talked my self into not wanting the leather and all the goodies with the duramax but came to the conclusion that if im driving 3-4 hours or even longer to get somewhere, i wanted to do it in comfort. THis fits the bill plus it has the 8ft box which make towing a fifth wheel much easier. it will also hold two quads (one flipped up) so if i buddy up with somebody we dont have to take two trucks or a trailer. BTW. heated seats are nice when your back is all achy after riding. lol

Who's racing the HS at Budds? Might be a little muddy. I'm actually looking forward to a few nice mud holes to mix things up.

Also does anyone know the schedule for next year? I read that Tomahawk is no longer part of D-7. I think our first couple races of the season where there.

Eric, i thrw this site together in half an hour. its just a start but when i get round to it it should become a little more involved.

YOur camrea should have either a usb or a firewire output port. hook that up to the computer and suck the movie out with some software that shouldve come with the camera. if the camera doesnt have a "computer" compatible port then you have to buy a special video editing card for you computer and kind of dubb the video into your computer. YOu better have a big *** computer for this kind of stuff cause it heavy duty

James....I will run you guys' video camera with my good arm Sunday IF...... you sabotage Dan and Brians quads:devil: JK:D I hope you all do well. If you had been at Oakland last week you would be looking forward to seeing the same old Budds track for a change. Not complaining!!!! but, that track was VERY tight, rocky, stumpy and slick. I couldn't do crap on that track:grr: . I usually do a little better on the slower, tighter tracks but I couldn't stay out of the freekin trees. I did notice that the Razr2's seemed to stay really slick for longer than I would think. I did alot of un-intentional sliding in the rear well after a muddy section. The fronts hooked up great. I think I will try a set of the I-razr's on the back next. Maybe that was my problem....the first sloppy race with the R and I found out the hard way that the rear slides a little easier than the 400 did.....sounds like a good excuse anyway;)

Sabotaging Dans quad will be easy, he will most likely forgot somthing important, but I know Brian is preparing his quad on Saturday. On the other hand I have had the same problems with the Razor II's, they do not hook very well on slick or dry hard pack terrian. Thanks to the flats at FOTM, I am going to mount up the I Razors this weekend and we will see how they do at Budds. As far as tight tracks go I love them, I hate the wide open rought tracks like Budds and FOTM. If Budds is a mud fest then it might slow it down a bit. Well we will see you on Sunday and BTW did you break your wrist by catching a rear tire on a tree:D Ouch!

400exvet
10-21-2004, 05:33 PM
No. There was a section with really close trees on both sides sort of staggered. If you hit it fast and right, you just sort of wiggled the rear around barely touching each one. I slid into one a little harder than expected which made the next one too close:eek2: . I hit it just right with the right front and it snapped the bars to the left and stopped abruptly:eek: Between my momentum and the bars going the other way, the wrist got jammed into the forearm bone socket bowl like thingy and broke in a couple of places. Sort of like sitting a baseball on a coffee mug, wrapped with a bunch of rubber bands, and hitting it with a hammer. Everything went back where it came from due to the cartilage and now the bone just has to heal. The Dr said it should heel in 6 weeks if I don't cut the cast off and start using it too soon:p ....who me???? I've been to that doctor before:D so he knows what up

Yeah I'm still working out the details of my race day routine. It starts the night before with a kinda checklist I follow:

-little or no sleep
-a generous amount of alcohol
-drunk food (i.e. anything I can cook without burning the house down, usually consist of microwavable burritos or frozen pizzas)

Then the morning of the race. I run through another checklist

-don't throw up
-drink as much gatorade or water as possible
-don't throw up
-drink some more water
-don't throw up

After that you should be primed for 1 1/2 hours of racing, but I must warn you this routine only works for a select few. I have found that I am not one of them but continue to follow it just to make sure.:D

When did you get this information because my friend were at Sugar Hill last weekend and there were no problems. Since I been riding there (about 4-5 months) I've only heard of Police being htere once, and that was because some guy was drunk in a pickup and rolled it on to its side and sat there revving it up thinking he could get it to right itself. Somebody got scared he would hurt himself or someone else so they called the police on him. Other than that I've never heard of people even being kicked out????

Just curious if this was something new from this week!!

i had some buddies wanting me to go to greenridge today and camp for the weekend but im busy so i declined this time around...

maybe we can set-up a group ride for greenridge sometime, or even paragon or tower city and get alot of people to go

as for sugar hill, its good mud and lots of trails but i always wear my helmet unless im putting around real slow somewhere...

god what i would do to be able to buy the property at sugar hill and require helemts etc. and charge like $5 for a legal safe place to ride, and also insure that it wont be closed down, not to make money but just to insure that its not gonna get shutdown

my parents own 20 acres in romney wv...3 hours from bmore.

good bit of trail riding, some rivers to play around, and ALOT (miles on top of miles) of dirt road to ride for faster sport bikes who like to open it up. we have some real decent hill climbs but we also dont teart the land up...its not a free for all make your own trail thing.

and to top it off we are 15 minutes from the best place to buy any yamaha bike or quad on the east coast i believe. you can buy a big utility quad like the grizzly here in baltimore for nearly $8k (just ask hoax23 what they run) and i can go to romeny and get one loaded into my truck on any given day for $6,495 with a $70 winch to go with it :D

and petersburg honda is their sister store, not too far away if you are a honda boy... so anyone who wants to buy a bike let me know...ill take you there and might even let you try it out on my property for a weekend

If you are ever looking for someone to head up there with let me know I have been wanting to do a fun trail ride all year and haven't

i cant take a whole lot fo people to my place...its only a 3 bedroom 1 bath 72X14 house trailer but if 2-3 people wanna hit greenridge one day then its only another hour or so down to my place we can stay a night and ride the next day for a little while.

Also i dont pay the bills on the place, my old man does so he will tag along but he loves to ride as well so its no big deal...plus we get to use his truck for pulling the trailer, give smy arm a break from shifting the 6 spd

Well, it's official. SUGAR HILL is closed for business. As Eric and i were pulling up some guys were loading up heavy equipment. I got out and aksed the guy about the riding and he said "no more". i had the distinct feeling that he was already telling somebody about us on the phone cause i heard him say something like " Here comes one of them now" as i walked up to him. The entrance is all chained up and there seems not be a way in.

yup...i heard about this from shawn (hoax23) saturday morning...and i found out the reason behind it, i thought it was due to someone getting hurt etc. etc.

but my uncle lives up that way and talked to local police officer and they were told to keep people out of there because of all the mud on the road. same reason they shut down constructions sites all over, mud and errosion control...and once that mud hits the road its done. so until someone puts in time and money to set-up a power washing bay before you leave the dirt road then i dont see suagr hill re-opening.

the reason it was closed down is because people kept telling people about it. When it was first found out about it was just a few people riding every weekend, then someone else found out and they told some people, then they told some more people, until the point where it was always busy and people were getting hurt, and stupid *** white people gotta start sueing for everything.

Hey, sunday was a pretty cool day....... if you like riding in what seamed to be 3 ft. deep ruts, other than that it was pretty fun to get out there with the group of us quad guys and have one last race for the year with the delmarva series. Im pretty sure this was the first season most of us guys have ever raced, and i have to say i think we have all came a long way. I ended up going into sunday's race just wanting to finish one moto, it was all i needed for the overall year 1st place in C class, i ended up taking first overall for the day on sunday, so that was also kinda cool. Dave(honda5)aka wheely man, took first in B class. And Matt Estep took first in vet. We also got to meet kwatts, we all have to get together sometime and ride somewheres. Well, now i guess im gonna tear my quad down and go over the whole thing, also get started with a christmas wish list for it:D Has anyone ever had to replace the bushings on a laeger pro trax t pin front end before? Im gonna go over mine, and it looks a good bit different than any other setup ive ever worked on.

thank you

Right around the corner from you bud, I am on Principio rd in Port Deposit (Perryville accually).... If you go out to the traffic circle going towards Conowingo and make a left to go past the sale barn, go up to Camp Meeting ground road and make a left (across from Firetower Rd), go to the end of Camp meeting ground and make a right...I am 100 yards from that intersection.

great day for racing......but a terrible quad turn out:( . I would say no more than 20 quads total. Is it really the rocks that keep people away from that race? They have a great race there but the turn out is typically very low. The people are great, the location is perfect for both dist 6 & 7, I think it is a perfect XC course, yes - maybe a little rocky and hard on equipment....but thats XC right? Did I say how nice and helpful the entire staff is? Plus, my son ran his first race at seven on his eton 50...he got first place (don't tell anyone but he was the only one in the class....hey its still first!) but they still gave him a 5' trophy:eek: ...you still can't get that smile off his face....looks like this:D but much bigger. He was slow but never stopped the whole race...it was mostly due to his completely stock quad...tires and all. By the time you add the weight of the mud on him and the quad, it barely had enough power to get up the hills and spin in the mud...he was rockin though:macho trying to get it to go faster:p .
Hopefully see all y'all at Delaware.
Nick,James,Dan and Brian- Ron is having people over after the Del. race for some good ole' Cecil County hospitality with some Chili and beverages for good measure. It's about 20 miles South of Blue Diamond on RT 40. Right on your way home. Let me know...Later

I am 2 minutes frm hunters sale barn and would gladly have you stop over for some riding, but I will be leaving over Thanksgiving weekend. I go to Bedford, Pa for deer season every year......Funny how you are in Penn State (close to Bedford) and coming to Md for TG weekend, and I am 2 minutes from the sale barn and going to Bedford on the same weekend. Also if you get an chance let us know if you have any secrect directions to get us to the track, it looks like it should be a two drive for us.

I sure will, you may not like my way of riding though, I like jumping, hillclimbs, and whoopty doo's, but I still like to "putt" around at the same time. I am 33 now and did all that stuff when I was younger, but now I hurt too bad the next day when I do all of that. Regardless, I only know of 1 good spot to ride around here, it is "slim pickens', but if you know of any, let me know as well, and we can try all of them out one day.

Hey guys sounds like you all had a good time at FOTM I wish I could have gone but I had Tommy's football banquet.Doug congrats to your son on his first race. I might race at Blue Dimond, not too sure I might just go to check it out. I went to Greenridge on Sat with Ruthless and that place was cool. Wide open trails and amazing speeds. We were bouncing off the rev limiters in 5th gear all day:eek2:  The loop was not technical at all but if you want to test your high speed game then this is the place to do it. Justin (aka Ruthless) is plenty fast on his 450. We took turns roosting the hell out of each other.

Doug was the bike turnout as bad as the quads? You are right about how nice they are up there. Walt and company are great people!

How much is Blue Diamond to join or do you have to pay per day? I have a few guys that I work with that go there once in awhile, but apparently it's been longer than they think since they've been there because none of them can remember how much it is.:huh

Blue Diamond costs $50.00 per year plus $25.00 each day you ride. That first $75.00 day really hurts but after that it seems worth it.

Eric, there were not alot of bikes there either:confused: I don't know an exact number but not as many as I typically see at races. I still can't get my son to stop smiling:D ....I think it's permanent. Guess what he wants for Xmas?.........tires, pipe and a rear shock:p . I cracked up when the wife told me that. I definately need to do something to it for more power. From what I have read, a pipe will really liven it up. As for the shocks...he may just have to deal with the stockers for now....I will not even buy myself good shocks....I think I'm sending my stockers to C&D for their respring/revalve. Can't beat $550 for all that!

Also.....:( ....there is no District 7 Quad HS race at Blue Diamond this weekend. I read that on the D7 website forum  It is good for me...so you guys don't get too far ahead of me in points. The cast comes off Dec 2 (supposedly) so I should be good for the Budds race on Jan 2nd.

Did Brian get his motor fixed? Any you guys doing the 6 hour race at North Carolina on Dec 11th?

Ron called that one.:p That's good I really didn't feel like racing this weekend. I have some quad things I need to straighten out. Brian has all the parts ordered just waiting on delivery. He really got luck with no major damage. He only needed a cylinder and piston and he replaced all the bearings in the bottom end. Could have been a lot worse. We haven't really talked about the 6 hour. Will you be ready by then?

Hey Guys! I live in Annapolis, Md and have ridden just about Everywhere! Im always looking for Serious Riders that wanna join me sometime up in Pennsylvania for a full day of hard core trail riding. I ride up there most of the time now and Ive been riding the local trails for years and know well over 500 plus miles of free riding. I ride all day 8 to 10 hours, have fuel and food stops along any given loop and log anywhere from 80 to 140 mile per ride. If your interested I have a web site link or just PM me ~Coop

I ride where Locals have been riding for many many years. The biggest thing is we Respect the Land, We don't Pollute, We stay away from Posted and Keystone Game Land and don't ride certain areas during Hunting Season. I have NEVER had a Problem. I think The biggest thing that ruins it for all of us, is People, Drinking and Drugging on the trails, getting Out of Control, Vandalizing other Peoples Property etc. etc. If anyone out of control EVER joined me on a Ride? I would take them WAY out into the middle of Giant Black Bear Country, Drop the throttle and leave them there! Even those you shouldn't feed the Animals I think in this case it would be ok. :D -LOL
I ride both Sport and Utility, It just depends on who I'm riding with? Also Don't tell My Prairie its a Utility? Its just an extra large 4x4 Sport Quad! that doesn't know it once had racks?-LoL. If you Race or are looking for Training? And want to get together sometime just let me know? I guarantee No Matter WHO you are? At the end of the day you'll feel it. ;) ~coop
