You all didn't miss anything fishing. Not a single hardhead, only a bunch of white perch. Oh well still a pretty good day.

Yeah that cold front that pushed through yesterday afternoon shut most fish down hard. White perch eat good. I like 'em fried:devil: We catch them up here on the Susquehanna all day long. I had one mounted two years ago 15.5" 1#12oz. it was a monster. I thought I had a small mouth bass!

Hey at least you didn't tell everyone how I rolled my quad right in front of you! I wanted to be the first on that one:D I am going outside to see if I can straighten Tommys wheel hub/ mounting plate. Now he rolled good. Three time down the side of a hill. I have to teach him to let go of the quad when you roll it. Hey he got right up and gave me a goofy look like he wanted to cry but was to embarreced to. He is a trooper :macho

Seatec, what you have done to the Grizzly? Any aftermarket stuff?
If I had the money, I would buy a 4x4. It would be fun to do some trail rides and mud bogs. I would probably go with the Kawasaki Prairie. I hear that 700 is a beast.

Seatec...glad you had a good time riding " big mamma":D . Hope you didn't come anywhere close to rolling it. I tried to scope out some more spots for a do-able stream crossing today....still back to where we started:grr: I even went up on I-83,( on the YFZ ), to check out how it would be to cross there. I'm sad to report that I'm WAY to chicken s#%! to try it. I was gonna go for it until a pair of semi trucks came past me at what I'll guess was at least 80mph. You know the shoulder of the bridge is narrower than on the regular road....EEEK. If we could just get somebody to drop off a couple of telephone poles on the north side of the bridge , north bound lane, we'd be set. Think the grizz could pull one? We have to find a way across!!!!!

Well, Seatec made it across my stream. He's out exploring the trails while I download the pics off the camera. I'll make sure he has them to take with him. That way he can post some later:) . That Grizz is pretty awesome. Don't let the pics fool you. The water is moving so fast it's hard to keep your footing when crossing on foot.

That Grizz demands repect. Yes it is plush but it has some stump pulling power. I saw that creek when we stopped by and that is some swift moving water. I am hoping Seatec can post some pics. Hey I just thought of something... on the Huevos videos they are crossing a pond at high speed...... I wonder if we could do that on our quads? You gotta show'em the "white water" section. That was the scary one.....well not on a Griz, but on a sport quad...eeekkk:eek2: knee deep+ and fast moving is a bad combo on our light 2wd quads. The pics seatec posted are of a much slower crossing....but that crossing actually got up to the seat of the Grizz. Sorry I am not trying to give anyone a hard time, but I think the Nationals provide great race experience. It is awesome to go the an event that is well organized and with a class struction were you can race againist riders with similar skills (there are always sand baggers). The courses usually have a variety of terrian with technical sections and open areas. The WISP is a great race because you have technical rocky sections and then wide open field sections to catch your breath. Taylor Town GNCC in PA was the same way, but with less rocks. If you think about Budds and Tomahawk, there are very limited sections to catch your breath. At Budds we had one smooth 200 yard dash behind the flat track and at Tomahawk the motocross provides the only smooth part in the entire course. Just my two cents :)
PS, I second the note about the points not being updated, what the hell is going with D-7. If the current rep can not get stuff dome then out with the old and in with the new.
greghall
05-10-2004, 05:47 PM

Yeah, I was wondering myself what's up with the D-7 points. Not that I want to see where I am though. So far, I had a horrible season. I guess that comes with running a new bike and getting use to it.
Can't wait for Rausch. I think it will be an awesome time. Rocks have never bothered me either. I think most people have problems because they go through too slowly. Sounds crazy, but most people know, the faster you go, the smoother the ride. I think some of my rims speak for themselves. The look more like stop signs than wheels. I think I need to invest in a pair of hypers ($$$).

I'm racing the C 16-24 class and my bro Dan is racing the C 25-31 class along with Brian (white yfz) and James (250rxcrider). We are all going up Friday some time and staying in a hotel Fri night. Yeah all you need is an AMA card. Signup starts at 8 am on Sat and is from 5-7pm on Friday evening. I want to get up there as early as possible because I've heard tech takes a while with them checking exhausts. It should be a good race!:)

Greg, i went down one in the front and down 1 in the back so -1 -1. I wanted to go up 2 in the rear but the PRM skid wont allow it so this is the next best thing.
Eric, i dont know about titanium. the chain is the most expensive part of the final drive and id rather waer the sprockets out than the chain.

Thanks for the compliments guys:) . This set-up is going to take some getting used to. I hate change...just ask Seatec. I feel like I'm not sure where this thing is going to go. Almost TOO much traction at the rear. I gotta change, ( there's that word again), the way I ride. The rear tires are the new Holeshot HDs and fronts are XCRs that I had left over from the Z400. I didn't realize just how much "extra" suspension I was getting from the stock tires. I now feel every bump. The wheels are Burgards...VERY well made and cheap...$115.00 per wheel, and the guys there are great to deal with.
As far as racing...not for a while. After a 20 min. ride through my trails, my shoulder was killing me. It's gonna be awhile before I try to tackle a real race.
I'll be getting rid of those red covers on my lights.... I can't have all the cicadas chasing me around:D

I have no idea what happened. I would kick it over and it would start, then bog down and die when I hit the gas. I had to let it sit for a minute then it started right up and away we went. After that I was so pissed, I missed an arrow and started going down the wrong trails and got lost for about 2 or 3 minutes. I thought I was going to spend the day in the woods because I was running low on gas and had no clue where I was. Luckily I was able to back track and found a course official, who wasn't work a damn. He just looked at me blankly when I asked where the course was, and never actually said anything, he just pointed in the opposite direction. What an a**hole...Anyways, this cost me about 8 positions, and I ended in 12th place. I want to see the lap times so I can figure out what place I was running on the last lap. Another guy in our camp finished 5th and I was ahead of him. But, that's racing...
I'll let the rest of the riders in our camp tell their own story. All in all, it was a good track (lot's of rocks) and a great day of racing. I am hurting this morning...also, I'm afraid to look at my skidplates.

mornin' all! I ended up 8th in the 33+ class. Which I am happy with considering some of the excuses I have:o #1 no clutch after lap 1, #2 no skid plate after lap 2, #3 wasn't sure about the gas....I missed my pit on the 3rd lap where I was supposed to stop and get 1 gallon just to make sure...I am gonna check this morning to see how many ounces are left. I hate excuses but they do make for a better story huh? I really was just happy to finish that one. I stalled a couple of times and hit two trees. I only had to get off the quad on the one tree....it really got me:eek: ..the other one just kicked back the bars to make for a nice forearm bruise/ lump. All in all it was a tough course...I was trying to go fast but also trying to protect the quad and me at the same time. Tire balls and really good skids definately allowed those guys to fly through some of those sections without worrying. I loved the skids plates that littered the track. We will soon see 100 used skid plates on E-Bay. I'm gonna look for mine:D I was a little late getting there and I wanted to pit with Nick and Dan and y'all but I didn't have time to look. Eric, I looked around for you but that was like lookin for a needle in a hay stack! I had my truck without the trailer and was pitted to the right, down at the bottom by the ponds. Later my coffee is getting cold!

well I think harbor freight carries some of those 4'x8' trailors at the store, I might give it a couple weeks so I can get some money together, get my top end redone and go ahead and get a trailor and hitch.

I ended up 22nd in my class and 111th overall. Not my best performance but I wasn't too disappointed. I'm still learning a whole bunch about racing. The course was brutal but sometimes those kinda races are the ones you learn the most from and also remember for a long time. I didn't do any major damage so it turned out to be a great weekend. I think Virginia is next on the GNCC schedule and I will definitly be there!:blah:

Hey I am glad to hear that you guys finished the race. I know that there were a lot of DNF"s. I would have been absolutely thrilled to have finished because even some of the best didn't. Bill Ballance is on fire this year and I think that you could say the season is his if he stays healthy. You should see his race team in action....the best of everything right there! Hey Doug I know what you mean about the skid plates! I saw a guy in the afternoon with his chassis plate dagging under his swingarm and it souded horrible. I also heard of some serious injuries. Today a bike rider had his jaw split wide opn by a rock. Yesterday a guy wiped out hard and needed the services of the EMT's. Damn I even got hurt today goofing off on my friends XR100. My damn knees are shot! Well I had a good weekend with the boys. I wonder how things went up at Rausch Creek today? Harlen was up there but I am sure he wasn't riding. Nick he made Jim's and your hands from Tomahawk look like the hands from the Palmolive commercials! He took almost all of the skin off his right hand somehow! I sure hope he is left handed:devil: Agian congrats to the D-7 guys for representing!
