We were thinking about running it but I don't really like the way the classes are broken down. There are not different classes each team can be made up of an a-b, b-b, a-c, c-c, c-b riders. Any team with an A rider or a pro rider is going to win. It also is only 2 hours for quads. We run longer than that by ourselves at a GNCC. The track layout is nice. It is an mx track and a woods track. If I get the urge to race this weekend and find a partner I may do it but it is not likely.

We'll be leaving thursday evening. Definetly find us when you get there.
You to Justin it will be good to have some other D-7 boys to root for it makes the classes that much more interesting to watch.
#28 I remember last year getting beat by a local sandbagger that ran B class in d-7, but 4 stroke C at the Budds. Nat. I wasn't happy but thats how it goes at the Nats. He was doing heel klickers over pit row table top during the race. I hope this helps you make your desicion.

Well I got in touch with the ATV Harescramble rep from District 7. His name is Jeremy Brandwein. Seems like a good guy and willing to try to make a few changes to improve the Quad HS series. To begin with, he wants to get contact information for everyone. Seems like the easiest way is through email because he can mass email everyone. For those of you that either race District 7 Quad Harescrambles or are interested, please PM with your email address. I told him I would start putting a list together of the people I know.

The old atv hs rep is now the vice president. She is also pregnant with twins so I think Jeremy Brandwein is filling in this year. I don't really care about them making changes I'd just be happy if they'd show up at a race. Budds was a joke on Sunday because no one from D-7 was there.

He can't be in two places at once. We had a district 7 quad mx points race at Southfork. Jeremy was there and had current points updates for the mx side. If he is just filling in he might be a little behind.

just curious as to why he would need our e-mail addresses? We already have a schedule and if races are cancelled they have a system to re-schedule and mail out the new date. The only changes that I see needed are minimal:
1. the sign up crew should be aware that we are racing that day, be organized and figure out a way to determine that we are quads, either by asking or making the classes end in a Q or something???
2. races be atleast 1.5 hours
3. somehow figure out a way to score us correctly every race and get those points to the rep.
4. keep the year end points correct and up to date

I don't think we are asking for the moon here...most organizations already do all this. I understand we are not the bread and butter of the district and/or the tracks that we race on. But, we still deserve to be recognized and get what we pay for. The rep doesn't have to be at the races but atleast make sure that all the above is happening at every track/race. Seems to me somebody is missing something here. I see quads everywhere! Why aren't there more quads racing local? There sure are plenty at the GNCC's. Does the typical beginner need to see more organization when they race for the first time....or something that makes them want to come back and do it again??? I don't have all the answers and I don't want to volunteer my time to make it better. Although, I will express my ideas. Actually, I will race whether it is organized or not..:D. Later, Doug

I understand he can't be two places at once that's why I said "someone" from D-7 should have been there. That's fine if he can't make it but at least figure out a way so that we don't get screwed. The way they did the scoring was a joke and a lot of people ended up getting screwed.

I'm with ya Doug, I will still come even though it is a joke because I need all the practice I can get for the Nationals, but I don't know if I'll buy a D-7 card.

The reason he wants to get everyone's email address is so he can communicate to everyone what's going on. It's a two way street. He needs feedback and input from us, and then he needs to let us know what's going on and if changes are actually happening. This little bit of communication should help to improve things, which will hopefully help the series grow. Many people are always saying quads get sh*t on, but that is because we don't have the numbers that bikes have. Now maybe this isn't right, but it all boils down to money. Bikes bring more money and therefore get more. Like you Doug, I don't want to volunteer my time because the free time I currently have is few and far between. However, I will offer ideas and suggestions. Hence, the email address. It's a quick way to communicate to everyone.

pgregg, I agree with you that you can't be in two places at once, which is why I volunteered everyone from our camp to help out, if needed. Nothing major, just simply getting a copy of the official results after the race to get to Jeremy to update the website. As long as we make sure someone gets a copy of the "correct" results, it should be easy to keep the points updated.

Well, had a pretty good day at seaford sunday. There was a pretty good turn out there for quads. I was having problems with my bike on and off there though, with the throttle sticking and lacking out on power sometimes. After we left the track, we went to the car wash, i started the bike and it stalled out, then started it again, and BANG, it locks up. I wasnt a happy camper and still not, considering im supposed to be leaving for virginia thursday. We got my engine out last night and looked it over, came to the conclusion that it jumped timing. Im not sure if anyone is familiar with the yamaha setup, but the timing chain has a tensioner that pushes on a piece of poly that your chain runs on, my timing chain is brand new. The tensioner is all the way out pushing on on the poly piece, and the chain is still too loose. Nothing obvious you can see is broke or anything, just making no sense. If anyone has any ideas please post them, any help would be greatly appreciated.

yOUR TENSIONER PROBALLY FAILED, THEY DO ON YFZ ENGINES.

YOU CAN CALL CLIFF AT CT3MOTORSPORTS 540-845-5779 AND GET A CUSTOM BILLET TENSIONER YOU SELF ADJUST THAT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM FROM HAPPENING ANYMORE.

Hey, the tensioner is still working, i checked it last night, my problem is that it is all the way out pushing on the poly skid for the chain to tighten it, and its still loose with it all the way extended. Does the CT3motorsports place stock any of the yamaha engine parts like timing chains and gasket sets? Because im gonna needing to be like next day airing all the parts today.

thank you

Well, i got my engine over to Butch at B&B monday evening. The diagnosis was NOT good. Apparently i had sucked a good bit of dust threw the air filter or boot sometime andit went into the engine, taking all of the chrome off the cylinder inside, then trashing the rings and piston, all the bearings, crank, rod, oil pump, cam chain, cam chain guides, and minor damage to the valve train. So i bassically toasted the whole engine. Which sucks because im supposed to be racing virginia. But with the HUGE HELP of everyone i should have a motor together by tonight. Donnie Lamborn hooked me up with a complete bottom end, i had an extra cylinder, the head is fine, and all the rest of the parts were next day aired out of california. So i should be good to go still for virginia. Hey Andrew, shoot me a mail with your number so ill be able to get a hold of you when we leave.

I left my digital camera in my truck while we were riding, that coal dust is pretty nasty. I used realtors on my 450r last fall at Ashland and they were too tall for my gearing. I used a set of well worn out 20 inch blackwaters at Treverton last Sunday and they worked out pretty well. The guys I went with ran the Skat- Track Terrain Tracks on their bikes and absolutely loved them. They had awesome bite and they are very light weight.

It was only my 2nd time hillclimbing, so I didn't climb any hills that I wasn't sure that I could make, next time I'll try some bigger climbs.

I'm on vacation next week so I'm looking to ride 2 or 3 times.

Congrats to #88 for seventh in 265B, what a fast class that was. And Nick Shupe was a determined man but the 440 couldn't hold up to the 16-24 class. Cliff was also moving but had some difficulties. Myself, I stepped it up but fell short on the the trophy's in 25+ and 265B.

wondering if there is an ATV Harescramble at Rocket Raceway this Sunday. I have it listed as an ATV event, but it may be an older schedule from the district 7 web site. The District 7 monthly paper doesn't have it listed, but it was and possibly still is listed on their web site.

Nick & Dan....congrats on finishing the Big Buck. Looks like you both had some trouble but you still went, had a good time and finished....what else is there?????The weather was much better than Steele Creek huh?

I hear that the last race at Budds isn't going to count towards the year end D7 points. Something about it wasn't long enough to be considered a real H.S. race???? The rules state that a H.S. race must be 1 Hour minimum? So I guess, the 20 laps on the MX track was not 1 hour:confused: I don't know how they could tell because I didn't think they kept any times. The incident occurred on the property in the 4500 block of South Polling House Road in Harwood, police said.

I saw it on the news this morning and boy, they sure don't let a chance go buy to emphasize that it was an ATV that killed the boy. Never mind that the boy was un supervised so to compensate the person who was suppose to watch out for the kid they are probably going to rally to ban ATV's so they can feel better. WATCH YOUR CHILDREN WHEN THEY operate these things. You wouldnt hand your kid a loaded gun and walk away?

Now i know it can happen even if you stand there and watch them but this person apparently wasnt watching the kid while riding.

Those were my thoughts as well when I read this.

1. What size ATV - prob not a 90cc
2. Why was he not being supervised?
3. What kind of safety equipment? chest protector?
4. What kind of experience, safety training, etc... was provided for the kid?
5. How are these people going to shift the blame to the ATV instead of the adults that were supposed to be watching this kid.

Sad that any kids get hurt but this is what happens when parents do not watch their kids.

Very sad to hear about the boy killed on the ATV. My 7 yr old son rides his 50 ATV almost every day. Only if my wife or I are at home. Even though he is supervised, I can see where he could still have an accident. Although, we would know right away if something happened. I would feel bad if something happened, but I would know I did what I could to make it as safe as possible for them to enjoy a semi-dangerous sport. Can all of you parents that have kids that ride say this? I don't think the parents should be blamed either, unless it is proven that they really were negligent and not supervising him properly. To me, the media should take this time to emphasize the need for protective equipment, training and strict supervision when your children participate in activities such as motorcycles or ATV's....even bicycles. Use some NEWS time for a special on how or where to get proper equipment and training. And how, when and where your kids should ride....not how bad ATV's are. I spend alot of time making sure that the trails that my kids ride on are safe. There are also many rules that they must abide to. They don't just jump on and go ride wherever whenever!

Nick, you guys going to Rocket?
Do you guys have a room at WISP yet?

I talked to Jeremy, the ATV rep for D7. He said the points for Budds WILL NOT COUNT, even the bikes. He said there was just too much confusion and the race should have been cancelled. Between the mix up at sign in, the late start, racers leaving, the 20 laps on the MX track was not the 1 hour minimum that H.S. are supposed to be and the way we were scored, just can not be counted as a real race. He says that he is really trying to make the ATV H.S. series better.....not a very good start huh? He assures me it will get better and the remaining tracks will know that we(ATV's) are coming and that our results will get to D7.
later, Doug

I am planning on going to Rocket. Dan said he might not go, but I think James is in. I am going regardless. As for Wisp, no we didn't get a room yet. I don't know who is going. I know Dan and I will be there, so we might just stay at the track in the trailer. We'll see.

Then make your first left after that and their well be a trail on your left going up to it. We went during the week last time, but I will be there for the weekend this time. There will be another group going out with us, Butch, The guy that works on my bikes and his son-in-law are going. They will be riding an LT250r quadracer with an 1100cc+ gsxr motor in it, and a 250r with a zx636 motor in it. Hopefully I will have the chance to ride one of those beasts while I'm out there.

I finally jumped to a production quad. I was accually looking for a YFZ a couple weeks back, but after riding one of these with the cam and some other performance stuff done, i accually liked it. So i got rid of the hybrid and got a Honda. Hopefully ill like it better, im probably gonna try it out somewheres tomorrow to try to get the suspension dialed in right, the myself and matt are going to seaford sunday, any one esle going? Also would anyone happen to know how high i should have my ride height when im sitting on the bike? Right now with me on it the from the bottom of the frame under the foot pegs to the ground is almost 6 inches and the second lower a arms bolt(the one closest to your feet not the very front one) is about 6 3/4". It seems if i go any higher the quad just seems to sit to high and feel wierd. Just thought i would ask to see if i could get some input.

They had 8 riders in the pro class so 1st was paid $200, 2nd $140, 3rd $100. If you and Paul and a couple others show up, they'll raise it more. It would be great if all the dist. 7 guys could make it.

Payouts are as followed:

1-7 riders:

1st= $70
2nd= $45
3rd= $35

8-10 Riders:
1st= $200
2nd= $140
3rd= $100

11 or more Riders:
1st= $240
2nd= $275
3rd= $135

To get a payout for the 8 riders and above, there must be that many riders who ENTER A RACE, not just practice. If we end up with more than 10 riders, more than likely I will split the class into heats, an LCQ and a main to get the startign gate to 8 PRO riders. As long as 10 or more make it to the heats, the payouts will remain. I can fit a few more on the starting gate, but I like the idea of 8 riders at once because it give you guys a chance to spread out and there is less a chance of lappers coming into the equation.

By the way, we had 13 Novice ATVs this past weekend. The future looks bright!

Scottie, you shouldn't let people just run practice on a race day. The guys that do that are just scoping the competition to see who is there and determine if they can win or not before they put the entry fee on the line. If they think they think they can't win then they won't race and that screws the whole payout system up. It's messed up but some people are that way. This happened at the race I went to last year and it is probably the reason I won't go back. I am not trying to give you a hard time I just feel it would make things better and I know I am not the only one that feels this way on the issue.

This happened at the race I went to last year and it is probably the reason I won't go back. I am not trying to give you a hard time I just feel it would make things better and I know I am not the only one that feels this way on the issue.

Paul,

No offence, but that is NOT what happened at the race you came to last year. It had nothing to do with who was or wasn't entered. Some of you guys are VERY good riders, but you guys aren't scaring away the competition. One of the two guys who left blew his motor, the other is more interested in chasing snatch on a Saturday night than racing. And, every track in D13 allows people to pracitce on race day, whether they race or not.

The thing that gets me about you guys is this; people on this, and every forum for quads, always complains about how tracks treat quad riders like also-rans, red headed step children or second fiddle. No track would change their payout system to appease quad riders, BUT, we did. You guys complained that you didn't like that the top three all got the same amount. So, I changed it. You guys complained last year that the track was too tight for 11 quads. So, I changed the rules to make sure that their are no more than 8-9 quads on the line at a time. You guys complained that the triple should be changed. So, we added dirt to the landings of the double and the triple to make it more quad friendly. You guys said you wanted some decent payouts. So, I took all of the money we make on quads, and split it into the payout. we make NOTHING on Pro ATV, it is a 100% payback if we have at least 8-10 riders. Hell, I even gave you guys money out of my own pocket last year to clear up any mixups.

Next time you guys are at Budds, go to the owner of the track and tell him that you are disappointed with the payout, the track, the gate, etc.and see where it gets you. Not trying to start an argument, just trying to open up some eyes.

I hope you guys make it to a few of the races this year. If not, we will make do. the 50s, 65s, and 85cc mini bikes are what makes Miller's tick. Not the quads. And those minbike riders NEVER complain. They are happy to have a place to ride, especially a place that respects them and isn't there just to make a buck.

The Pro ATV riders who do show up will gladly take our money........ and be VERY thankful to get it.

To anyone who would like to have a great time and ride or race under the lights and in front of the grandstands, please give us a try. Ask anyone who has raced (apparently except for the pro ATV guys from MD) and they will tell you it is an awesome experience. We had a full gate in both novice and pro quad, and everyone was happy.

Sincerely,
Scott McKenna

Well, not so good of a weekend for me. Sunday at seaford i wrecked, not to bad of a wreck either, had worse anyways. But i guess the way my leg landed wasnt that great. After going to the hospital monday morning i found out that my heal bone is broke, ankle is broke(piece of bone acually separted) and tore i believe ligament/tendants in the ankle and hand. THIS SUCKS! Out of all that happening, im accually very lucky the doctors stated. My heal bone is aligned correct to heal correctly if will heal, if not i need pins. The ankle part and others will just take time to heal it self they said, so for 1 month im not aloud to have any preasure on my right foot. I was supposed to be racing the mt morris national and unadilla one also, but it doesnt look like im going to now. this will give me some time to get all my stuff for the new bike powdercoated and my shocks set up correctly though. So, hoping all goes well i should be back out on the track withing a couple months.

I think I finally figured out the quote thing!
I may just ride our track at Ronny's sometime this weekend.

There is an AWRCS race in Indiana Pa. on the 19th. Doesn't look to be that far from you. On this side of Pittsburgh.

Looks like you guys did pretty well at Summersville. How was the heat? Probably beat the heck out of the last few mud fests' huh? Looks like you guys have some really fast "C" riders in your class. 2 of them were almost in the top ten overall. Dan should be especially happy with his overall. Was it hot sleeping?
We'll hook up before heading out to Wisp. Hopefully, I have better luck there this year. I'm due for some luck. I see Mike Young is doing well in my class. He got third at the Mountaineer. I'd never live it down from Ronny if Mike beat me:D

There is a Koontz race Saturday in Davis, Wv. Dan and I were actually thinking about going, but we'll have to see.

The heat in Summersville wasn't that bad. Dan did really well. I wrecked a few times but was happy I stayed on the lead lap. We had our ac cranking the night before so it was pretty nice in there. Definitely get in touch with us before Wisp.

Sorry, that June 19th race in Indiana Pa. is an AWRCS. I was looking at the wrong schedule:o . Now I see the Koontz's Timberline Ski resort race on Saturday the 18th. You might as well make a weekend out of it and hit them both :D.
If Ronny sees that Timberline race, he will definately want to go there. I'm pretty sure they use to have GNCC's there years ago.

Yeah, you're not lying when you say there are some pretty fast "C" riders...it's good competition though. I think I lost a little steam on the last lap b/c the two "C" riders that past me were hauling *****. I think some of my problem is I get into a zone and don't push myself when nobody is around. I need to find someone to chase and stay behind them.

Looking forward to Wisp this weekend. Should be a good race and looks like the weather may cooperate, so far.

Great News We are finally OPEN FOR BUSINESS. We have all permits and the park is open. Come on out and spend the 4th of July riding with us. 1 day pass (weekday) --------- $25

All three tracks have had major improvements, are in great shape and ready to ride. I really look forward to riding with you. Please help us out by spreading the word to your riding friends that the BREEZEWOOD PROVING GROUNDS IS FINALLY OPEN !!

I think the membership allows you to ride for free. If you don't have a membership than you have to pay $35 to ride. At least that's how it was when they first opened.

Well from past experiences like Blue Diamond in New Castle DE, you have to pay $75.00 yearly and $25.00 for each time you ride there. With a family of four to ride and to take the camper to Breezewood, we would have to take out a loan to ride for the weekend. If anyone finds out any additional information on this please let us know. B

Those prices sure are going up.
A friend of mine and i decided to ride through some local woods oppose to going up to Rausch creek this weekend.
It would've cost him and his son a $100 just to get into the place.
(2 x $15 insurance + 2x $35). thats not counting diesel from Baltimore and food and tear off's. It's getting up there to ride around some fo these places. Tomahawak is still the cheapest for $25 a pop and they have a nice track when its groomed.

Not really complaining because i know the overhead these tracks have is very high but the prices are getting up. Makes me wonder sometimes if the joy justifies the cost.

According to their website Easton is $50.00 a day for non-members or $25.00 a day for members with a $50.00 annual membership fee, along with a $5.00 gate fee for non-riders. I've been thinking about going to Easton this Friday or Saturday, if anyone else is interested going, I hate to spend that much just to go by myself.

Ron really wants to go to Oakland. I have not had time to look over my quad since wisp....so it really depends on what it needs and if I can get it ready in time for Sunday. That is such a long way to travel just for a D-7 race, but the XC racing bug might take over my sensible thinking...AGAIN :eek: and I'm sure Ron will be hounding me to go....so we'll probably be there.

Nick, Good luck Sat.at the MX race. Don't go too crazy on the jumps, save yourself and use most of your energy for really quick turns and getting up to speed ASAP on the straights. I have found at my MX ability level, I make better time on the ground....and it doesn't hurt as much if you make a little mistake or mis-judgement.

James, good luck to you too, if you go....which you should, since you do have a PASS :p . You better use them up when you get them......they will soon be harder to come by:devil: .

Maybe someday the district 7 rep will find the time to update the Quad Harescramble points and we can all see where we are. I know they are not counting the 4/3/05 Budds race and the 4/24/05 Rocket race has some incorrect results. But I guess they are what they are and he could atleast be courtious enough to post what he has.
I'm hoping to go to the next Rocket race in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, See y'all there! Later

Doug,

You did not miss much. It was fun tight track, but passing was very difficult. I got a flat on the second lap and got to run Ron's "experimental" tire. Then on the last lap I clipped a tree and bent my axle, so it was an expensive weekend you me.

Later,

JP

Ridersville Cycle in Berkley Springs. We have bought quite a few 400exs and 450rs from there. $99 over there cost. If your looking for a 450r also try Criswell Powersports in Germantown Md. Someone was saying they had them there for $5900, but I'm not positive.

It is not the same without 152 out there you may have enjoyed last weekends competition. Well I'll be coming up your way this weekend, going to Ocean City Md. I couldn't talk the wife into bringing the trailer so I could ride sunday.

If you wanted to ride you can leave your trailer at my house so you don't have it in OC. Cliff has my # or he can get it from Paul.

Anyone going to the district 7 harescramble at Rocket Raceway this sunday? We'll be there. Hopefully they do a little better scoring this time :grr: still nice to have a little different track to go to. I wanted to make the race in Oakland, but 5 hours is just too far for a district race.

Nice new toy ya got there seatec! Does that thing have AC? Boy, do I remember the days of street bikes in 90 plus degree weather:eek2:

Doug, Dan and I will be in the Outer Banks with the family this weekend and I don't think Brian and James will be there. My bike is actually in pieces. Pappy's got the frame, doing trans blue. It should look sweet. I'm getting some a-arms and nerf bars for it and most likely a cam.:D Good luck to you and Ron this weekend.

Seatec, that is a nice looking machine. You ever had a bike before?

ATVriders.com Group Ride August 19-21st, Rausch Creek

I will be publicly announcing this news to everyone on the site, but since I am a Maryland resident myself, I figured I would give you loyal guys the news first.

The normal fee to ride at Rausch Creek is $35/day and a one time membership fee of $15, and I am working on a discount for members for that weekend of probably $30/day or less if possible.

I do have a limited supply of Rausch Creek passes that I will make availabe at a discounted rate of $25/day for those that pay in advance and I will mail the passes to you.

If you miss the ride for any reason, they are still good for a future visit, so no worries on if something comes up that weekend.

Well, I hope that everyone from this thread makes the trip to Rausch Creek atleast for Saturday 20th, which will be the Main day of the ride.

I will be announcing the news on the Homepage this week, and thanks for being apart of ATVrider.scom

Doug,

I am still waiting for the new axle to arrive, so I will not be at the race this weekend. I talked with Brian earlier and he may give you all a call to meet up at the race. Good luck and at least it won't be snowing this time:D

What arms ya gettin?

James, I'll be waitin for Brian to call if he's gonna go. He could ride part way with us if he wants. Tell him to start drinking his gallon of water a day so he doesn't overheat:p

Hey Kevin, What's going on? I have been trying to recruit minis from D6 at every race I go to and have posted the TMX info on a few websites to try to get more as well. Do you know if Chad has done anything locally to help get the word out? Will your nephews be there? See you soon. Adam

I put some AC nerfs on his quad. Check it out!!!
