Thanks again everybody.
With ALL this free time I have now, I figured I'd show you a pic of the little jump that caused so much trouble.
http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/auction/Mar/2004394235987176165583.jpg
And for Eric, I though I'd show you my Z400 that I sold to get the YFZ. I still miss that quad at times. It was a great machine and I know you'll be happy with yours. In the pic, you can see the Works Pro Series triple rate rezzie shocks that I bought to help with jumping. I ended up selling them apart from the 400. Man that thing was comfortable to ride.

Well I got good news and I got bad news.
the bad news is I cant ride for a couple of weeks.
The good news is I cant ride because I landed a huge contract for my side business. I would rather be riding but the money is just insane so I cant pass it up. If anyone has experience in electronics installations (car phones or stereo's) let me know if you are interested in working weekends. I am installing GPS tracking units and hands free car kits into a local bus company. I have over a hundred to do so let me know.

lmao JC that is funny. Yup I got a new toy. Now its time to start building it. one thing that concerns me about it though is the reputation on cracked frames. I would like to have it gusseted and PC'd but there is no time for that now. I might just get a bolt in brace kit 'till this winter when I can do a tear down. I don't do those crazy 50' triples like you anyway so I should be allright.

Believe it or not, I gottem off ebay for $400.00...used... ( new, the cheapest I could find was $699.00+shipping). They also fit the 400EX and 250R as well. They were triple rate, compression adjustable , with billet rezzies. Now here is the sweet part. When I sold the Z, I sold it with the stock shocks. I then re-sold the Works back on ebay...3 weeks later...for $186.00 MORE than I paid for them :D . For jumping, they were 1000% better than stock.
I wouldn't fret the frame cracking thing too much. Unless you're doing major jumping with some serious hard landings, I think you'll be fine. I questioned the service manager at my dealer about this and they hadn't gotten any frame failure warranty claims on this. If you see some paint starting to flake around the front shock mounts, that is normal. The frame is going to flex some . Now if you do upgrade the boingers, that will only help out with the frame issue. Those bottomed out landings are the culprit.
Congrats on the side business! I can smell that money from here!

Yeah, i was a little shocked too when i typed up all the crap i have on my quad. Was asking myself if i needed it all and came to the conclusion that i didn't give a sh$t since i like putting stuff on.
Next is a re valve fro the shocks. thinking about the millennium re-valve from Santos but am not sure. TCS does a good job too i hear.
What are you ordering?
The seat is straightened out. i took it off. :D
Will think about what i want to do with it since i hear from a few people that the smooth sides always rip no matter how well they are put on and since i am heavier than the average rider i'd think that my seat will rip quickly. maybe ill just leave the stocker as it is and maybe later order a cools cover from cascade or something.
i don't now what to do for Sunday. i have a few tentative things on the agenda so its hard to plan. i would really like to get a good woods ride in but don't know where.

It can cool be at times but the trucks tear it up pretty good. There are some cool hill climbs. There is not much more that is free in this area.

Ah I know where it is and it is a cool woods trail. I went there when it snowed with my truck and had a blast. My neighbor has a bad ***** jeep she (yes she) takes back there. I know a farmer owns it and his son lets people ride there but how does he feel about just anyone showing up? I would love to ride my quad through the woods there.

If Greg hall didn't tell you who he was I'll let the cat out of the bag. From what I was told from the guy I bought my quad from he was a top ranked racer before some as$hole stole not one but two of his quads. Look out he is back with a 450r. I would like to see him ride. I heard he rocks!
Honda5 I would have liked to have joined you guys today but I thought I was going to have to work today and wasted a chance to ride. I probly wont get a chance to hook up for a few weeks if work keeps coming in the way it has. I saw your post for Silver lake. I would love to make that trip but I am shooting for a week at Hatfield Mcoy. Hell I have five weeks of vacation this year I just might have to see If I can pull it off.

Good point now! Well, if nothing gets in the way, i either go to seaford or Sugar Hill next weekend.
I feel like i have a split personality. One wants to do MX and the other XC. Arghhh!!
Makes it tought to revalve shocks. what do i revalve them for?
I need a second quad for sure now.:D

YLW400- It wasn't my fault. Donnie and I were in a contest of how could take out the most. I ended up arguing with one he took out. lol. It is supposed to rain Friday so you know what Easton will be like.

Seatec, I am sure that means you need a quad for MX, and one for woods...lol Get another one ;) lol Make it a Honda so I can ride that one too...lol
Delaware, that sounds like it was a group effort between you and Donnie...Do us quadriders really need to give ourselves a worse reputation?:o :D Yea, Easton will be a poop hole

They were slow. All they had to do was move over and they were trying to put block passes on us. Who do you think was going to win that one? I think Honda5 witnessed when it happened.

Some of those guys are doe doe's anyway when it comes to quads. DO they not realize that a quad weighs twice as much as their little motorbikes?:o :D

Duh! Whether or not they admit it but some "some" of them look down on quad riders. (no flaming here. i said "some" of them).
They say we ruin the trails because we have a larger foot print or something. oh well. i say "live and let live".
I was thinking about having my quad set up for XC and MX. i think that if i have a set of shocks and tires for both XC and MX i would pretty much be set, don't you think?
Since i have the hipers with RAZR II for XC i'd just use the stockers for MX and maybe later get a set of stock shocks for like 4 -500 and have them revalved. beats shelling out for another quad and all the Upgrades that go with it. It would be total overkill for my riding abilities anyway.

Ahhh I see I am not the only one that has had this problem. When I was at Rausch a couple of weeks ago some guy on a Cr250 was trying to race me on the natural terrain track. He put a few moves on me in the jump section then we went into the woods and I roosted his ***** real bad and I thought to myself if you want to run with a quad expect to get twice the roost!!:macho :blah:

I found the link to Middleford Speedway Seaford (http://www.middlefordspeedway.com/index.html) and like most all of the tracks their web sites are lacking. I need to start doing web site development for these guys. I think their business would pick up if they had better web sites...but who am I... just a computer geek!!!!
So what is the deal with this place? Are there any woods trails or is it all MX.
Do they have a beginers track like Easton?
Do they have a peewee track?
How much?
anyone with info??????? thanks

Honda5: Not letting money stand in the way of happiness is also my philosophy however, i try not to be a total dumbass about it and buy something i really dont need.
I am debating with myself right now if i should.
If i where to get another Quad i would set it up for MX since my current quad leans more towards XC already. i would transfer some parts to make the current quad full XC and then hop up the other quad for full mx.
BTW, Sorry YLW, if i where to buy a Honda , i would make that into the woods quad which wont help you any because of your Dendrophobia. :D

Eric,
The misses has as much interest in riding a quad as she has in pounding her thumb Whit a 5 pound hammer for an hour. I just got her a "another" high dollar sewing machines so she can do that "one special seam" when she is quilting. She does her thing and i do mine. For us it's a good thing to do separate things and the misses totally agrees with that. As i said before and i wasn't kidding, she kicks me out of the house in the weekends so she has some peace and quite from me!!!! Good for her and me.
Z400/KFX are awesome quads and the Reverse is nice but i must tell ya. i love this YFZ man. It would also be easier for parts and stuff. I am that guy who almost always orders the same kind of food in different Restaurants. Fajitas at Chilies and Ribs at the Outback. i stick with what i know. Just a simple guy.:D
As for where to ride. I am torn. Seaford or Sugar Hill. Damn. i feel as ambivalent as a squirrel on the road with a mack truck coming down on it. will i get to ride the Z?

Hell its your for the day if you want:D
I totaly agree with your philosophy on the wife. I have the same arrangement with mine except instead of sewing she is into these damn expensive Longaberger baskets. I think the last she counted she has over 90 of them and the price for these damn things would blow your mind. I had to take a rider out on my homeowners! Sometimes it better to have different hobbies but not all of us can be as lucky as D&B they seem to have it pretty good:D

Well..... It might be mine. I gotta wait and see the results of my MRI, ( looking for a torn rotator cuff), and my EMG, ( checking for damaged nerves), tests indicate. Either of the two come back showing significant damage, then I might have to get operated on:( . The doc is concerned cause I can't lift my arm up at the shoulder joint. He said even with the broken shoulder blade,(scapula), I should still be able to lift it. If either of the surguries(sp?), keep me out for more than 6 months, then the 450 goes. My disability insurance only lasts 6 months, and the house payments keep on comming!! I know that the rotator cuff would put me out that long. Now I won't know anything until next Thurs. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for asking:) .
Man this stinks. I keep going to all the quad sites and torturing myself. I was seriously considering trying my hand at some C class MX stuff. I love the MX tracks. Maybe I can take up quilting with Seatec's wife.....that's a safe sport.
That AFLAC insurance is gonna take a beatin' from me!!!! It was worth EVERY penny!!!

I'd love to, but how about Thurs.? I got to go with the wife somewhere this afternoon...sorry.
You gotta be kidding about the dream thing...I swear, no lie, that I had a dream last night that we were riding over here at my area...crossed the street, and were heading up to where I took you to the trails that were overgrown and we couldn't get in...remember? Anyway, there was a buch of other people riding there and we got chased out. For some reason you couldn't get your quad started..you came rolling down the hill with the seat off . I was trying to help you , but some guys in a pick-up truck came after us. Not sure what happened after that...got kinda fuzzy. Hey maybe it was the plug??? MAN is that weird!!! Chris,
I tore out my rotator cuff and my acl in an accident 13 years ago and I never had them fixed. I wish I would have had it done a long time ago. Now I am starting to realize I am not a kid any longer and have to get the surguries soon. I recommend that you wait until Nov to have the operation that way you don't miss out on any ride time. Hey if Ray Lewis and Peter Boulware can play football with a torn shoulder you can ride a quad. Just load up on Cortizone shots and Celebrex and you'll be fine. Plus you are still young... what 22,23 mabey even 21:blah: Whatever you decide I hope that you get throught his with as little pain as possible. What kind of work do you do? radio chassis 6' up into the radio racks. That is going to be almost impossible until I recover from surgury, but I have awsome insurance and I think I am ok for my recovery period. I just have to jack up my overtime before I go ahead with it so that my disability payout will be higher. You got to work the system right!?? I am puting surgury off till the late fall.

I highly discourage you from taking a young kid to sugar hill. It is a cool free place to ride but it is not for the pee wee's unless you get there very early and Sunday is the worst day. It is very tight there and most of the big guys don't know to stay away from the kids. I had a bad experience there with my boys and I don't think I will be taking them back. unfortunately this is how places get closed down. I could tell a story about how my youngest boy got hurt there on his first day ever riding ,in the first 5 min by some a-hole but I don't feel like getting all p'd thinking about it. I have been taking my kids to a place in Hickory by my house and no one has bothered us. I just wish I could ride there with them, but with an e-series w/12 disk would have the cops there in no time. Hey is it true that the cops cant do anything if the motor is under 50cc. I see kids on these go-peds and electric scooters all over the place and I heard the cops cant do anything if it is under 50cc. just a stupid question.

greg. ill be there at around 9. whats the easiest way from 152 mountain road?
greghall
03-20-2004, 06:10 PM
Go down 152 to rt 40 cross over 40 go around 1/2 mile (or less). Sugar hill rd. will be on the right at the top of the first hill, there will be a old white garage with boats out front on the left across from sugar hill rd,thats how you know the turn is right there. turn right on to sugar hill & stay to the right on dirt road till you get to the pit, dont go in the pit there will be a small cut out on the right in the woods at the entrance to the pit ,a little past the house park there, the pit has alot of nails in it so Im going to stay out of it and in the woods,I had two nails in my R tires I had to plug,I think they came from the place right inside the pit where some jerk dumped a load of shingles.

When you cross over RT.40 152 turns into Magnolia RD. its very easy to find you shoul'nt have any troubl its right there soon as you go accross 40 on the right at the top of the hill.

Eric, if i where to sell it to you it wouldn't be for what i paid. it's not new anymore since i used it on the CRF450. It has a scratch on the plastic so.

03-24-2004, 05:46 PM
Yeah I heard the VET class was pretty tough last year,Charles Coliflower took fouth for the year & he's a pretty fast guy he could beat me when I raced,So being out for 2 & 1/2 years Im going to break in myself in the B class,When I was racing they would only let me run the A or VET class because I finshed so well in the points the first full year,But im really rusty so I think most of the fast guys will be in A or VET,I think vet will be the fastest class this year it was always the most competive.I cant wait to try my new R at budds.
cletusEX
03-24-2004, 05:52 PM
Yeah Coliflower had some bike problems last year. He actually raced a bone stock 400ex for a while when his R wasn't running. When his R is running right he flat out hauls . The top guys in every class are all pretty quick, so any class you pick will be competitive.

Greg, I don't know, I haven't seen Coliflower at the last few races. There have been a lot of new faces at the first 2 races this year. Last year there was a group of 10-12 of us who all parked together, but some started racing more of the GNCC's and some gave up racing. Your right, ever race you see more and more 450's.
Seatec, you would do fine in B class. I'm not fast at all and I end up alright. You'd be amazed at how well you do if you run a clean race (not getting stuck or wrecking).

Greg, yeah I know all those guys. I actually was out riding with Chucky 2 weeks ago. Both Chuck and Jesse are racing 4 stroke stock at the GNCC's and Gabe I heard isn't racing this year. I have almost as much fun meeting and bull@#$%ing with guys as I do racing. The whole atmosphere at a race is pretty awesome.
Yeah water is the key. Drinking water days in advance and keeping hydrated is a big help in a race. Also controlling your breathing helps with stamina. When I first started racing I would forget to breath from all the excitment. Keeping a relaxed grip and breathing helps save your energy.

Hey Greg we have to get together. I want to start racing some sort of HS or something I just want to stay away from MX. I know we can get Seatec in on it too. Greg so what is the first race that you are going to run. I want to get in a race but I will be starting off in the C class since it will be my first race. Who has the best HS track around.
Seatec I tell you the loop at SH is awsome because it is so tight. I really like going counter clockwise throught the loop and jumping over the creek at the bottom. You should try it at night during the week it is a blast. I took my buddy there on his dual sport and he wiped out into the pond in the dark while I was doing the loop. It took three guys about a half an hour to get it out of there. Now I always have rope in the truck!!!!

Also you guys will need to buy a AMA card & dis. card that $39 for AMA & $20 for dis. 7 + entry $10 & $20(I think) to enter the race. The first time it costs some $$$.

Not a problem with the cards. I think Seatec already has his I plan on getting mine the day of the race. My buddy did the HS at buds on that 60 deg day we had in January. He said that the couse went out onto the MX track and guys we litterally jumping over him. Wow!!! I wont be doing any crazy jumps till I get my frame Gussetted and new suspension under it.

At the hangover and blue-gray HS race at budds they incorporate the mx track, the woods loop, and 3/4 of the flat track. The flat track is pretty awesome. You pretty much get it topped out before you have to get on the brakes.
Riding is the only way to get ready for a race. Just go out somewhere and pound laps. Even if your tired just keep going. In a HS race you will get tired but you just have to keep going and usuall you get a second wind.

That MX track at Budds will hurt you take it easy because I had a bad wreck on Henry hill went up it way to fast and came off around 8 feet up in the air & foot peg cut me pretty good when my Banshee ran me over .,Eric dont worry about your frame If it breaks that easy buy a Honda ;) your bikes fine, stick with HS & you will be alright, you can still get hurt but I think its safer than MX.

The Blue-Gray HS race at Budds is April 4th. I really want to race but I might go to the national race in SC that weekend. Maybe I can race the GNCC on Sat. and race Budds on Sun. :) Any of you plan on racing at Budds that weekend?
As far as number plates, for D-7 all you need is a rear number plate. Everyone runs white with black letters. Your district number and what class you are. 4 stroke B has to run an x. so my number plate says 159x. vet class has to run a v. i forget what A and 2 stroke classes run.

I just got back from Blue Diamond. I hit it just right, they went to twilight rates just after I pulled up, so it was only $15. The atv track is kinda fun, it still needs some work, but there are decent jumps. Would be nice to try out the bike track though.
