alright I'll see what Dan's plans are tomorrow and then we can figure everything out. He only has a few things to move in so it really shouldn't take him to long and I know he wants to ride.

Did i tell you guys that i almost killed myself loading the grizzly onto the truck? I was rolling the Grizz onto the truck wehn both my tail gate straps snapped. i was 3/4 ways up on the truckbed but the rear wheels where still on the tail gate. i had it in 2wd and the rtear wheels where slipping. Had to hold the brakes. Get off and then shift in neutral and push it up rest of the way. thats was a eye opener. I have no choice but to ride it up though since the damn things ways about 650 wet. i guess i could mount a winch or something. any ideas?

pgregg85
05-19-2004, 07:06 AM
I was told GM has a recall on the tailgate straps on some of the past couple years full size trucks. Check into it before you buy new ones.

seatec
05-19-2004, 07:10 AM
Paul, your right and i was aware of that but my dealer hasnt gotten enough straps in yet so i have to wait. the basterds are probably fitting them to their current truck inventory. ANyway, i am thinking about going with the hinged setup. i saw somebody who had like thse strips of metal with a hinge in the middle. it greatly increased the carrying capacity. Only thing is that you gotta make sure they are folding right or you damage the tail gate when closing.

Ericthered rdr
05-19-2004, 07:14 AM
I suggest buying a winch for the grizz and mount a ring in the bed of the truck and just wich the quad up into the truck.

Wow what a cool day. I went up to a local shop to get some goodies for my quad and when I was there I noticed an XR50 all done up with some serious aftermarket goodies. Well I have been looking for one for my son Danny for awhile so I decided to go get the Bargannier on Checkster's recomendation. I looked through it and found two of them for sale. I called one of the guys and an hour later I had an '00 XR50 in the back of my truck! This thing is almost new. The guy had bought it for his son who doesn't live with him and the kid only rode it a couple of times, as a matter of fact he said it was only on its second tank of gas! I think I got a good deal for 700 bucks. I'll drain the gas clean the carb, change the oil and this thing is ready for action!

The pic doesnt do it justice. We were drenched coming across the stream. Eric, and Chris flew through it but i stalled it and barely pulled it out. also didnt help that i didnt have my crankcase breather tube properly plugged into the air box and drained about a quart of water out of the airbox after the crossing.

If you look at the picts of Seatec crossing the river you can see Chris standing on the side waiting to help if it was needed. In return for his eagerness to help he was rewarded with a wall fo water from Anthony. All I can say is these pics do no justice in reliving the moment. When you go in and your front tires dissapear then the water starts forcing you down stream a few feet you start to wonder if you are gonna make it. At that point it's WFO and shifting your weight and bouncing to keep you moving across instead of down. When I got to the other side I was yelling and hollering with amazement! Next time we get video of the hill climb from hell.
Seatec post the one of you soaked after the crossing. That was a great picture of you caught in the moment of disbelief!

Nice pics guys! My brother, James and I rode up at Rausch on Sat. They must of got a lot of rain the night before cause all the trails where covered in mud and water. We found a couple of nice streams to cross but nothing like that. We'd come up to a stream or mud hole and the call would come out "Hey Nick try that one." I wish they had the trails marked up there a little better so we could have layed out a course and got some good practice in, but it was still nice getting out there and riding.

Doug there must be a hundred junk yards between your work and home. I think you might be better off just getting a Jasper rebuild and bitting the bullet. I say that because you never know what you are getting into with a used tranny and by the time you look at lost time and towing from getting stuck witht a bad used one you probly could justify the cost of a rebuilt unit with a 75,000 mile warranty. Thats my.02 I will keep my eyes open. I am assuming it is a 4.3liter w/4speed auto.

Dail up:eek2: are you *****ting me???? I would die if I had to use that. Get yourself some Comcast @home and enjoy life in the fast lane. Seriously I Rx/TX some big files for work so I have to use broadband. I have a wireless card for my laptop that I use when I am on the road during the day and it is about the same speed as dial up and I hate it but I get to slowly surf the net and update files when I need too.

Well its 2004 1/12 old. It's got 3 rides on it wiht about 20 miles on the odo. Has a bent front bumper on the left but can be bent back. Just cosmetic really. I think $6850 is a fair price. agreed?

Hey, if i could have my current job out in your neck of the woods i might just move. Kinda cool you can ride to the track on your quad.

Hey guys have a great holiday weekend, enjoy the perfect riding weather, and be safe. I am headed out camping at Hershey Park till Monday with the wife and kids.

FYI!! Buddies 4 wheeler was stolen last nights, its a yellow z400 with itp mudlites in the rear and holeshot xc's in the front with the outside rib of the treads cut off. The rear fender's front mounts were broken and he has some metal strips rigged in there, It has a pro circuit slip on and the on the right of the grab bar theres a deep groove from when he wrecked. It was stolen in Bel air, MD.

So did anyone get any good riding in this weekend?? I went camping with 8 daults and 22 kids from 1-14 years old. Man that was an adventure! We took them all to Hershey park on Satuday and the weather was perfect and the kids behaved. I still had to wind down with some Corronas! I am looking forward to the race this weekend at Foot of the Mountain. Who all is and isn't coming??? Hope all the regulars can make it. I wonder if Honda5 is going to set that Rappy for XC???

My brother and I will be a Foot of the Mountain. James isn't going to make it and I'm not sure about Brian. I didn't really get any riding in this weekend. I went chumming out on the bay on Sun and caught a bunch of stripers and a few nice hardheads. All in all is was a nice relaxing weekend , but I'm more than ready for the Foot of the Mountain race.

I'm still fixin up from the Rausch Creek mayhem! I think a new swingarm is in my near future. Greg, you were the smart one on that trip, that is quite an expensive race$$$..........SEATEC said he was about to have some life changing experience????maybe he is having it now:eek: I was reading on the district 6 forum that this is some sort of rivalry race between district 6 & 7!, since it is points for both.....how about a good district 6 @ss woopin guys :macho Eric....22 kids....dude, what were you thinking???:p you'll have to hook me up with a good campground up there...the wife has been wanting to go there for years.

Well then bring that EX up to the race on Sunday! It was perfect weather for riding on Sunday I was dying knowing I was short ride from Rausch creek.

Hey Doug the campground at Hershey is nice but it is right next to a very active set of train tracks. I must say I thought I was in for a rough time with 22 kids but they really suprised all of the adults because they were perfect angels. I think the cool weather helped an dthe park was only at about 15-20% of capacity. The new ride Strom Runner is bad ***. It goes from 0-72 mph in 2 seconds then straight up and over a crest then straight back down into a cork srcrew. I sat in the front seat after dark and it was super awsome. The park was so empty after dark that the kids all rode the Super dooper looper 13 times and didn't even have to get off!

The directions for that track are...PA turnpike to exit 13, 522 North, right 641 East, right Decorum Road- 1 mile on left. You can also take the exit before that and go over the last mtn. the closest town is Neelyton Pa. its pretty easy to find.

sign up is probably from 8:00am on. The kids race first...they are really fun to watch because you can see alot of their course, which is just a small section of the real track. Then the bikes race around noon. We race last around 2:00. We will be parked in the back on the left by the woods right by the field section of the track. You can pit really quick from there if necessary! Later

I'll be there. I think my brother is coming and maybe Brian. Both Brian and James have weddings on Sat. so I think their playing it by ear. We usually park right past the scoring tent. Right by that one jump when you come out of that treeline for those who have been there. Should be a good race. That track is alwasy a little tough and usually wet. I haven't been on a quad in a few weeks so I don't know how well I'll do, but I'm sure gonna try. I think atv signup doesn't start until 11:00 but I'm not positive, it's been a while since I've been up there.

Chucked, mine is in the same shape. I did not realize how bad it was until it was too late. It was always a little loose...not real bad.. but after the GNCC at Rausch, you could move it about 4" each way. I took it apart and found lots of little rusted pieces. I got a new bearing kit...and after some hillbilly machining with a grinder and a drill, I got everything to work again. There were tabs on each side of the swingarm that held the outer seals on. These are completely worn off now. So, I will just have to keep an eye on it and plenty of grease to keep out some of the dirt.

Nic, how does your bro like his 450r? I may be getting one and want to know how drastic the transition from the EX was! Later

Like Greg said you will love the 450R. It feels similar to a EX but has a lot more power and the stock suspension is 10 times better than the ex's. He hasn't had a problem with the kickstart either. James (250rxcrider) switched to one from his 250r and loves it also. Overall it is an awesome bike coming off a ex. Call up Ridersville Cycle in WV. Their selling them for 5899, which is a killer deal. I'm debating whether to get one at the end of summer or keep my ex. The only thing that's holding me back is that my 400 is set up nice for xc and power hasn't really been an issue so far. As long as nothing major breaks on my 400 i'll probably keep it.

Doug I raced a EX for 3 years I know what good bikes they are & the 450R is way way better. the stock R suspension is all you need take out all the preload & soften it up & you are set ,I'm about done with the mods i'm doing there is really no need to do anything else at our level of racing. We are not Pro level so the stock shocks will work great. Also go to Riderville like cletus said, that's the best deal you will find & good people to deal with.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I won't hit all the GNCC races but enough of them are close that I think I could do it. You would think that with the increase in quad riders D-7 would step it up a little but the opposite seems to be true. It's pathetic.:(

here is Karens responce to the request for updated points

Yes, your points are being kept. However, when the promoter does not give you the results, and you have called 5 times, it's a little unnerving. I have the points and will have them with me at the next race (Foot of the Mt. 6-6). I did not want to post the points on the website with 2 races missing.

I have contacted the promoter at Foot of the Mt. and you guys are getting what you requested. The classes are as follows: A, Vet, OpenB, OpenC. Unfortunately, you will not be able to earn end-of-year points in the C class, since this is a middle of the year change. We are going to run the C class there to test it, and see how many riders we have turn out. If things go well, we should be able to make that change to the 2005 season. So tell all your buddies to come out and hopefully we will have a large turnout. The C class will be for new racers and will be monitored to make sure there is no "sand bagging".

Please remember that everyone on the district board and all the reps are volunteers and do not get paid. The reason that we do this is because we love the sport and want to help the riders. Many of us have been involved in d7 motorcycling for years and spend a lot of our "free time" at races, meetings, cutting trails for tracks, signup, scoring, etc. Promoters get paid for their time, we do not.

D7 Vice President

Well I thought about that and I don't think points are an issue for me since I haven't even come close enough to a good finish in B class. I also do have a race in Vet so I don't think switching is going to affect me. I would just like to know I might have a chane at a top5 finish:macho

thanks for the rain dance greg! did you really have to?

I'm ready to race hopeing for rain & cool weather

I sorta like a little mud myself. This weather looks perfect. Rain today but not tonite or tomorrow. See y'all up there....I gotta get out in the garage and finish up the EX. Hopefully, I will not have too many distractions! I'll have to cover up the R so I quit looking at it :D later
