i miss the good ole days....every weekend we would be out grudge racing and trail riding....every weekend! now all of our bikes are so fast they are broke every other weekend and every one is after everyone lol. its so much fun though. that third pic is sweet jared. from that angle video you can really see how quick that bike was and had sooooooo much left in it. imo

well not nearly as nice as the one above me but heres my recently acquired 86 250r. Lookin pretty rough but it should come out nice with some new parts. I was thinking of +3+1 a-arms, +4 axle, black plastics, candy apple green frame, black rims, and other standard stuff. I got a few grand already dedicated for parts haha Also if anyone has some cheap plastics I can get that would be great. These plastics/seat are so beat up and even holy. PM with what you got

Anywho I just picked up my first quad been a bike guy myself for the last 25yrs..
I got me a little something called a 87 250r which I know nothing about besides a couple things like it's a monster with a 310 bore kit etc... Maybe you guys can help me figure out what I got and what I need to do to fix the kick starter slip lol.... It's crazy wide and all custom built my brother bought it a couple years ago for 6grand from dude in phoenix who raced desert.... Don't know much more about it lol....

I only have like 3 crappy night time ones right now.... Just got the bike last night... It's a work in progress for sure it sat for the last 2 years and I just got it running last night.... I almost bought his stock one also and I still might... He wants a grand for a bone stock one that is pretty clean... Just measuring the stock one and then mine the front end is 14" wider from hub to hub I got 48" on the front with the tires on it's 54" wide.... Can't even fit through my side gate lol....

If I get home at a decent time tomorrow with some light I'll snap some pics... I always wanted a 87 250r but never was really into quads untill I bought my kids a couple little ones and putted around with them on a bike sucks or I rode them on the little ones... Anywho here is a couple crappy pics for now... Not much to see but I'll get some better ones... Still needs to be cleaned up etc..

Nice project you got there!Looks really wide!The idea width is around 50" +-.Some 4 & 1 offset wheels will do the trick!You should be all over the stocker.Clean it up and you could make some money on it!With the big bore kit on yours,you will be sucking gas.I have a IMS oversize tank im selling if interrested,my 4 banger hybrid is decent on gas!What kind of A-arms and shocks are on there?But yea,get the rite offset front wheels on there,it will handle like its supposed to,and maybe fit through your side gate!:D

It has a axis on the rear and the front used to have works but they leaked everywhere so he sold them off and picked these up and I cant find a tag or anything on them... Supposedly the front shocks were new well at least rebuilt when he bought them last year and for what ever reason they shipped them with out the nitrogen in them which is possible any how I charged them the other night and put 200psi of nitrogen in them and they just seem way to soft and I think one is low on oil so I either gotta ship these somewhere to get worked or find a new set... I saw a pair of axis on here that were really sweet for sale but Xmas is killing me so I can't fork out the 900$ any time soon lol.... I'll start a thread about my bike since I'm a tottal 250r newb and I don't want clutter this show off thread...:thumbsup: I got millions of questions , hopefully you guys cn help me out...;)

Some snow melted in the sand pit by my house, so I took the quad out for it's first run. It has way more power than my old '86 250R, even with the stock tires it was hooking up good. Just need to remember how to ride again and it should be a good summer.

heres my work in progress:

sooner or later it will have white fenders with a red hood like the oem along with a red seat cover and oem graphics to finish it off. I have the front vent for it also to make it look just about completely stock again.

it will need some new razrs on it with some douglas .125s or .190s and new bars to finish it off and it will be just about completely restored to where i want it to be.

it has since got a DID chain, jt sprockets, asv levers on both sides, and oem front shocks over break last week.

im not sure what order they are in without posting them. the gold rim one is when i got it. there are some others that are when i got it home, then i added the tool box and nerfs along with the 400 tires. after that i got the rest over the winter and put them on last week when i was home for spring break.

Looks like a typical bling star bumper it's probably for a z400 that's why you haven't seen any 250's with it check out the cross compatibility sticky to see what I mean

yes it's a Blingstar bumper, it came of a trx450r.
I just had to add some spacers between the frame and bumper and it fits like a charm :)

Well I've already added flexx bars, e-brake blockoff, shock covers, vforce 3 reed cage, 36mm pwk carb, and asv levers. Eventually i'll add hipers, red plastics with my carbon fourwerx hood, and esr 310 cylinder. It's just going to be a fun trail quad

Page 184 of this thread has some info. It is now 30 over-4-mil stroker. (268CC) 48RWH on Arlan's dyno. Also had direct drive make me a removable clutch cover. a few other little things since the original build.

Thanks guys! Dan, I have thought about it a bunch... I wanted the factory 88 stickers, but I can't make up my mind. I used to be a sponsered bmx rider, so I'm down to represent sponsers, but I have a hard time doing so without. That may sound arrogant, but I built the bike, so I don't want to give credit to a company. That being said, I love some of the companies parts on my bike though. Also... the look I was going for was attention to detail. My bike doesn't stand out until you look closer. Haha. I'll shut up now. That probably make no sense. Ps.. the pic of your bike at the dunes is awesome!

This year I changed over from a straight Roll swingarm to a gullwing. Also added the Roll grab bar, Roll brake pedal, Merrell hubs, and a set of Skat-Traks on some Hiper Tech 3's.

I think it could use some carbon shrouds, and maybe a big motor one of these days, but I'm happy with it.
