Wallkill, NY (4/17/13) - The fast-paced twelve-round New England ATV MX series made its traditional return to the Orange County Walden Playboy MX track in Wallkill, NY to kick off the exciting 2013 season this past weekend! The weather leading up to the event was a bit on the dreary side as the entire Eastern seaboard was being flooded with rain waters. Coming into Friday the weather was still rainy and cold but when Saturday rolled around, the dark clouds said their goodbyes and the track began to dry out and welcomed the racers into a very breezy, but dry weekend. The weekend got kicked off with the first of two motos for the youth racers racing on Saturday, which would in turn make for an action packed Sunday full of motos from the Amateur and Pro racers!

Can-Am DS450 ATV racers were out in force for the opening weekend here at NEATV-MX, and this would prove to be the machines to beat as the top two racers in the Pro and Pro-Am divisions were both aboard Can-Am DS450 ATVs. The weekend would see Paris, Tennessee’s #969 Travis Moore returning to the series and laying down a dominant performance in both the Pro and Pro-Am classes to come home with a 1-1 victory on the day. Fellow Can-Am racer #70 Mathieu Deroy, from Quebec, Canada, too returned to the NEATV-MX series for 2013 and came away with a 2-2 finish on the weekend, pressuring Moore and the other racers the entire weekend.

Mike Bluy & Jayden Hickson - Honda 450R ATV
#117 Mike Bluy & #227 Jayden Hickson battle for position at Walden MX

#117 Honda mounted Mike Bluy entertained the NEATV-MX series this year and would show us he means business by coming away with a third podium finish in the Pro class after going 3-4 on the weekend. Fellow Honda mounted racer, Jayden Hickson #227 from Ontario, Canada also had a very good showing on the weekend taking a third place podium finish in the Pro-Am class going 4-2 on the weekend.

Preston Young - Honda 450R ATV Holeeshot
#172 Preston Young grabbed the first NEATV-MX Pro Holeshot of the season aboard his DASA powered Honda 450R ATV

Heading to the line for the first moto of the Pro class, we saw 12 racers very eager to put their mark on the opening round of the series. Coming off the line was #172 DASA / Spastic’s Preston Young taking the Holeshot with Bluy and Deroy shortly in-tow.

Travis Moore - Can-Am DS450 ATV
Wide Open Racing / BCS Performance's Travis Moore went 2-1 earning him the NEATV-MX Pro Overall at Round 1

#969 Wide Open Racing / BCS Performance’s Travis Moore came out on the top of the podium in the Pro class after battling hard in the first Pro moto with clutch issues as he was trying to get the ATV dialed in. Moore would come off the line in about 8th place and had his work cut out for him as he tried to pass his way up through the pack. During an early pass on one of the first laps, Moore clipped into another racer and spun out, sending him to the back of the pack. He then ripped his way back up to the top 5 and then eventually gained his way into second place by the time the 8 laps were over with.
