yeah i just got mine for christmas and i love it, the reason i took my headlight out is because my dad ran into me on my 3 wheeler and busted it out, it was like a week after i got it too

O yea, I couldn't imagine jumping my table without them on it. My stocks ones were so blown I couldn't even jump 1 foot off the ground and they would bottom, let alone my 80 foot table I was using them for.

Damn inv3ctiv3, that is a clean '02. Maybe it's just the pic or the lighting, but are those the orginal plastics? If so you really know how to take care of a wheeler. The ONLY critique I have is the handguards, they look weird for some reason. Other than that, that's a nice quad man.

Yup, so many guys in the Northeast are running DS's in the NEATV circuit now that finding brand new stock take-off parts is pretty easy on the local forums. I think I paid like $250/set for the wheels/tires. Got these off an X package and another set for a buddy from the Regular DS with ITP Chrome wheels.

Holeshot SR's aren't a bad all around tire either for the trails. 21f 20r, typical set-up.

I'm not that accurate when it comes trimming to plastic so i would have to get someone to do it for me. I would powdercoat, just a little expensive at the moment. Im going to add a pro armor bumper sometime.

It's easy, just use tape and find the lines you want, then use a dremel, cut-off wheel or anything you have to cut them. When they are cut, smooth the edges out.

I had the same thought when I cut my old red fenders. I just used tape and marked the edge with a sharpie then sliced through it several times with a utility knife. I just bought new black plastics and I'm afraid to try and butch them off when they're still brand new. I'd almost rather buy race cut front fenders and another set of graphics then risk messing up $180 worth of brand new front fenders.

That's because I barely get out on it, and this was right after a rebuild.

Haha that was after a 200 KM drive back home from the track.

Needless to say the track was soupy that day, and it was the first time I had drove it since I built it for QOTM over on the .org.. it went from being spotless to that last pic in about 30 seconds lol

Yea, I guess with 18s that is about all you could do. I wish I would have taken a pic of mine when I had about 2 inches of mud on EVERY part of it. It prolly had 50 pounds of mud alone on it and it looked like it was made of mud. Talk about a nightmare when I had to wash it.

Send the pic to your desktop,then:
1. Right click on the picture
2. Open with microsoft office picture manager
3. At the top, click picture
4. at the bottom of the list it says resize
5. once you click on resize, on he right hand side type in the size you need it to be.

If you have a smart phone just download the Photobucket app and then upload your pics straight from your phone to your Photobucket account. That's what I do and it works like a dream. I you don't have a smartphone your gunna have to email them to yourself then download them to your computer and then upload them to your Photobucket account.

Heres mine before i sold it to my brother. It was on a 5 day dune trip where i rode so much i had to wrap my wrists because they hurt,popped,etc from im guessing Sports abuse and crappy front suspension haha..Full BigGun exhaust,Sparks +6 key,Sparks oversize filter,Choke removed,AC bumper and had some protapers but not in the pic. Had some plans for it but bought a 450 :D

It would be hard to keep them on. The sides that use to be black plastic is now gas tank. Its the Clark 5.5 gallon and I believe that it is hard to make the stickers stick. We use a pressure washer to clean them and I ride Honda red.

Thanks guys,, I got lucky with this one.....the bike had been siting in the dudes garage since 2003 ..he told me if it might have 30 hours on it,and I believe him..
Got it home , cleaned the carb ,changed battery and the the oil and filter .
It fired right up and runs great...Best $1500.00 I ever spent...

Glad I got those pics when I did though as I already scratched it up..but I bought it to ride, not look at :)

looks like a 95-97 cr125 next to your 400... i own a 97 cr125, awesome bikes but geared a little high, i geared mine down to do better in trails. VERY nice 400 by the way, looks like it just came off the showroom floor!

Yeah, its a 96..its a fun bike for sure, small enough to throw around, but still has plenty of kick..and That baby takes jump like a champ...:D

I personally think they look terrible. Nothing looks better than a mean pair of ITP Holeshots/GNCC's or Razr's in my opinion. Sport ATV needs some tough but sporty tires.

I bought the bumper used and the metal plate in there was out already. I had ground down the broken welds before painting it.

It wasn't an engine rebuild, it was running perfect last year so I didn't see a need to rebuild the engine again lol, just went through it and cleaned everything up, got new plastics, a arms, and some other things

Thanks man, I needed the 450r hood for my 450 so I found the fullbores off a member fore a good price. I barely ever use the thing, maybe 10 hours a year, lol. It needs suspension in the worst way though, lol. :p but I don't think I could ever sell it.. I've had it since 02!

Gunna have to agree with junior636, idk what it is about it but I'd like to have a bone stock EX just to mess around on and never get dirty. People would see it and be like "WOW, that thing is nice man!" And I wouldn't even have to put a dime of aftermarket parts in it.

The old ones are tanks it seems. My friend has a 2000 and has beat it to no avail. Only real things he's had to replace on it was one lower A-arm from jumping so much, and a bearing carrier, also from jumping, landing wrong and breaking it. Tires too, but that is normal wear and tear. Only changed the oil once in the year he's had it, and the oil is black as tar, he constantly maxes it out on the rev limiter and I am just waiting for it to go bang one of these days but have the feeling it's gonna be a long wait! I haven't done anything real harsh to my 02, but I do ride it pretty hard from time to time and it handles it well. I try to treat it nice though, I want it to last me a long long time if possible. I love the first generation 400EX bodystyle and can't see myself getting rid of it. Someday I plan to buy a 05 or newer model and swap engines in order to gain reverse, then put my current engine in the newer model and use it for a beater and put it through something similar to what my friend does with his.

yeah, i put a 426 w/ a stage 2 hotcam in the red one. It's still a very solid quad, runs great. Has a 450r swingarm, axle, and brakes as well as 450r front shocks and a shorty lrd pipe. It might not look like a beauty queen but it runs good. Here's a quick video of some snow riding a couple winters ago.

And lastly, here's a more recent pic from yesterday, both my quad and my dog and yes, she rides on it with me! She was born a natural, when I got her it was back in my dirtbike days and out of the blue she jumped into my lap before I took off and the rest is history. It's much easier riding with her on the quad rather than a bike let me tell ya, but it's quite a spectacle how well she hangs on over the bumpy stuff.

That last shot was timed just right with my friend in the background drifting his 2000 400EX. Kind of ironic in a way, his is a 00 and mine is a 02. He thinks I copycatted him, but I found my quad and it was the deal I was looking for so that's why I got it! Man, now I miss snow time, drifting and sliding around is so much fun! :D

Yeah, the 400 isn't all that bad in snow. Most people in my neck of the woods are utterly convinced that 2wd sport quads are completely useless because they aren't as capable as a 4x4 utility. Yet, last winter I rode to the top of a mountain on top of the hard packed snow without getting stuck, my quad is so light it didn't sink. I'd love to see a 4x4 keep up with the 400EX and a notable rider on board!
I miss snow and how these air cooled engines just run like scalded cats in the cold, after it warms up, my quad likes anything between 5 degrees and 50 degrees best.

Here's a grainy pic I snapped on my evening ride a couple hours ago. Rode down a cutoff road and it was pretty muddy from the rain we been having. If only my phone worked better in semi-darkness. During the day this picture would be much sharper in quality but at night my phone makes it look grainy which is real annoying.
