no all i did for the headlight was put electrical tape over it. my friend told me about it so we did it like 5 minutes before practice one race day :p. and ya it still works you just have to take the tape off :p. nice bike btw.

Can you guys explain to me how you make the flipped front rims work? Also tanner that quad is really nice. Probably the nicest 400 i have ever seen.

thanks man. all i did for mine was broke down the tire, drilled another hole out on the inside of the tire for the valve to go cuz it'll rub on the caliber if you dont change it, bought some rubber vavlves from crappy tire, put one valve in with the end facing out to plug the origianl hole and put the other one in the hole we drilled so we could put the air in. i dont know if that makes sense or not but hopefully that helps

Yea that made sense. That quad would of been alot nice if you would of got those 450r shocks rebuilt for the 400ex and had a arms then it would look like a complete mx quad.

Yeah they are stock length, indeed they are short. I'd need long travel.

Yea, they are. I havent had them revalved or anything. They work great. I keep my suspension set on full hard wil no preload most of the time.

It works great for me. They work great though. No clearance issues and no problems so far. Ive landed flat from 12+ feet up and didnt manage to bottom them out.:p

on whoops and smaller stuff are they still better thans tock or are they stiff on the small stuff?

They work so much better in the whoops too.

I love them. They might be for sale within the next 6 months though.

Im gonna talk to my dad, and see if he might let me trade them for some aftermarket shocks. I see alot of people wanting to trade thier works steelers for 450r shocks.:)

Yea I'm working on that. I know the powdercoated frame will be one of the last things I do. You might not be able to tell from the pics but the plastic as actually carbon fiber look (white of course). I'm going to buy houser a-arms which will be black. Gonna bore it out to a 440 with stage two hotcam soon:D

nah my quads are about going fast not looking good. they only get what they need to perform. nothing they dont.

Next up will be houser +1 arms, houser swing arm and reworked 450r shocks. (XC setup)

And i hated the yellow at first, but over time with all the black parts i did to tone the yellow down alot. i bet no one noticed the gas tank cover is black. maier parts are interchangable with some of the oem stuff. :D

yeah the nerf bar nets look dirty. they are silver and just need a good scrubin with some spray 9. (that stuff is awesome!)

As for my tires. They pretty much eat up anything I throw at them. All my buddies ride on them as well. We have no problems in mud. They're also nice because they're small. So far I've rode on them probably 15 hours on the tires and you really can't tell a difference in tread. I'm also putting +3+1 Burgard A-Arms and a Lonestar axle on it this weekend. Will be looking forward to posting new pics :D

THANKS .... yea my son's camera is really nice, he is still getting use to it, shoots 200 pics and ya might get 50 great pics, it has a ton of settings so yea it's a learning process. :D

I have $1800 into it after putting a new seat on it and new marks. Also had to install some of the fender push pins that were missing. Looking for more eye appealing mods. Let me know what you think.......

Wow that is a really nice 400ex (yellow one) Probably one of my favorites. For some reason the old ones look worse then the 05-07 stock but they look alot better modded then a modded 05--07 in my opinion.

Simple green cleans anything well.. could also buy some engine bright.

Toothbrush and some cleaner really, thats how I cleaned mine off really well. A pressure washer may work but around motor/electrical may not be a good idea.

yea it looks pretty slick. I like my white plastics. Like in pictures you can't tell how beat up they are, but when you're cleaning it or riding it you can see them plain as day.

I like it alot. It's the first aftermarket pipe I've bought, just got back into riding and rode all stock before. I think it has a great sound. Some may think it's alittle loud, but they sell different size noise supressing tips, which I have 2 of. Yes I did notice gain. I would recommend it. They just came out with one you can custumize with your choice of colors and logo or name and #. They look pretty sweet.

My fronts are labeled "Sport Six". I had ordered Klaw XCF's and apparently the XCF was replaced by the Sport Six which is a 6 ply tire compared to a 4 ply XCF. Thats the story I got from Rocky Mountain. I dont have much air in them at all and they are super stiff even after a few rides with 3 psi in them.

nice freakin quads guys.. prolly have mine up here next year about this time, just got a 2000 400ex, i've put alot of work in it, prolly 800$ and a few days work, got the engine and drivetrain all good n sound, but cosmetically.. she's nasty... need plastic, kid painted it before me.. lol, swing arm, a-arms, just a lil more tlc.. ah heck screw it, here's my turd... its got quite a bit done, but visually... umm.. well. u see... she'll get a well deserved 1500$ or so next winter. not so worried how it looks, as how it runs, she's strong as hell. still wanna get in there n give her some lovin....:)

just recently painted the aarms black and fixed a stripped bolt on the bottom of the oil tank and tapped a bigger bolt in on the oil filter cover cause the other bolt snapped and its stuck in there.i went riding today so now all i gotta do is align it better,fix some exhaust rivets,and give her a good wash.

You'll be VERY pleased with the results. My Elkas were a big step up from stock, but it was an equal step from the factory settings to GTT's settings on the Elkas. Money VERY well spent. ;)

I'm just curious as to how you like the +2's??? I keep going back and forth between +1's and +2's. I don't want my EX to be too wide because I ride trails mainly but I also hate how narrow it looks withthe factory a-arms. I'm thinking I'm going to order my new tires and wheels first to see how much the 3:2 wheels add as far as width and then order my Elka's and a-arms. My only other dilemma is piggyback or resevroir. I like the way the reservoirs fill all the empty space on your EX's front.

well i ride trails and race some XC and i dont really find any problems with my front end. its all about picking the right line.
and to be honest my quad is only 48 someodd inches wide. so thats not horribly wide.
on the piggy backs vs remote rezzies.
i like the looks of both. BUT the piggybacks are much more convienant. only reason i picked remote rezzies is because i found a great deal on them.

wind blew pretty hard the night before so
almost every dune was perfect for jumping

No, a friend of mine has an extra hundy so I can calm the withdraws, but hopefully I will be able to pick another one up as long as money starts coming in consistently.

i just recently picked up a 2001 400ex needed new piston and rings threw a high compression 11:1 and small bore to clean out the cylinder out runs great now witht the pro circuit pipe i put on it
