Josh Frederick Interview
::Continued::
ATVriders.com:
What are your plans going forward? Do you
want to stay involved in the industry?
Josh
Frederick: I would love to stay involved in the industry.
Right now I'm doing some things with Johnny
at DWT and I'm so thankful to be involved
with him because he's just kept me going through
this whole thing. He basically told me don’t
worry about things right now just to get my
head right. As far as what’s coming up, I'd
like to keep the foundation going and see
if we can get it to grow and hopefully help
other people. Like I mentioned maybe racing
hand-cycles and see where that can go. Hopefully
stay involved in the industry and be at the
races where I want to be. Hoping a door will
open, so I can be there and be of help to
somebody.
ATVriders.com:
How was it having the opportunity to do a
parade lap at the pro race?
Josh
Frederick: I'm so glad that I did it. It was really emotional
and it touched a lot of people. It was a good
feeling for me. If I would have thought about
it early I might have just raced the whole
race. But maybe next time.

After months of rehabilitation, Josh Frederick surprised his fellow racers & fans at Buffalo Bills WORCS Round 9 as rode his specially equip Can-Am DS450 ATV for the first time at a WORCS Race |
ATVriders.com:
Your mechanic Gilbert set up your quad with
hand controls. How's that working?
Josh
Frederick: Yes, Collins Webster got me the electronic
shifter and Gilbert installed it for me. It's
really cool. I strap myself on the quad which
is a little bit scary but it keeps me from
moving around. I just shift the gears on the
handle bar up and down like a regular shifter.
I've rode a little bit in the desert and I
think it's something I can get the hang of.

Josh Frederick's Can-Am DS 450 is equip with special hand controls & shifter |
ATVriders.com:
Are your automobiles also outfitted with hand
controls?
Josh
Frederick: Yes, we were able to get my wife's car and
my truck fitted with hand controls. It gives
me a little more freedom to drive to wherever
I need to go and without relying on somebody
else. Really glad to get that taken care of.

Josh
Frederick's vehicles have been outfitted
with hand controls so he can drive easily |
ATVriders.com:
You showed interest in possibly racing side-by-sides.
Josh
Frederick: I would like to race side-by-sides if we can
get everything together. I planning on racing
at Primm in the Can-Am Maverick, and I can’t
thank Johnny Leach and Mark Holz enough for
everything they have done to even make this
a possibility, but we still have some work
to do before I will know for sure if I can
race. I just don’t want to rush and have it
be a disaster, but I’m 90% sure we are racing
though.

Josh
Frederick will possibly be racing again
in his Can-Am Maverick 1000 at round
2 of the 2014 WORCS series at Buffalo
Bill Casino & Resort |
ATVriders.com:
You already have hand controls for your Maverick,
but I heard you are getting a fire suppressing
system as well?
Josh
Frederick: Yes,
it’s on its way, and we just have to install
it. You mount it around the inside of the
roll cage and it has nozzles pointing down.
If there’s a fire, you just pull a lever on
the dash and it releases the fire extinguisher.
It’s pretty cool.
As
you can tell, Josh Frederick has kept himself
busy over the past year, and it won’t be long
before he is competing again, and hopefully
we will see him back in action racing in the
Maverick on February 8th at Buffalo Bill’s
Casino & Resort in Primm, Nevada for round
2 of the WORCS Series.
