San Bernardino, CA (9/28/2015)
– H&M Motorsports’ David Haagsma overcame unseasonably
hot weather to dominate the SxS Pro class at round
eight of the WORCS Series held at race at Glen Helen
Raceway. FOX’s Ryan Piplic strengthened his hold
on the points chase with a second-place finish,
followed by HOLZ Racing’s Beau Baron. Mystik Lubricant’s
Mickey Thomas and Pro Motorsports’ Matt Hancock
rounded out the top five.

Temperatures approaching 100 degrees tested both
man and machine here as did the unique course,
which incorporated both of Glen Helen’s motocross
tracks, the off-road truck section, as well as
some low-lying brush sections.
The start was a survival game and Sparks Racing’s
Haagsma won. After snagging the holeshot, he ran
unchallenged throughout the event to net his third
WORCS victory and second straight, which has second
in the Sxs Pro points championship. Behind him,
though, was carnage. Going into the Talladega
turn, several cars collided, with Piplic and Baron
barely squeezing through.

“The start was very important today,” said Haagsma.
“I had some banging and smashing at the start,
but I got the holeshot into the first corner and
held the inside line into the second corner to
make sure no one got by me. I just ran my own
race from there. I had such a big gap by the end,
so I was going fast enough to win and not break
the car.”

Racing's David Haagsma held the lead from
start to finish to secure his third win
of the WORCS Racing Pro SxS season |
Maxxis’ Ryan Piplic held off Baron to finish
second and protect his points lead. Piplic needs
to merely finish the next race to clinch the championship.
“Coming into the second-to-last race of the season
with the points lead, my goal was to finish in
the top five,” said Piplic. “I finished second
so I’m ecstatic. Glen Helen is a crapshoot. It’s
really rough and hard on equipment, but it’s a
fun course that has everything to offer.”

FOX's
Ryan Piplic secured the second spot on the
podium, which cut his points lead to 15
points heading into the final round, so
he needs to finish in atleast 11th place
to wrap-up the championship even if David
Haagsma won the final round |
