Holz Racing’s Beau Baron was nearly taken out
heading into the first turn, but charged through.
He then challenged Piplic late in the event, but
settled for third, and recorded his fifth podium
of the season, which has the two time reigning
SxS Pro champion currently third in the points
championship.

“The toughest thing for me was the start…I was
a half a car length behind everyone, we hit, and
I didn’t come out so hot, but luckily I maneuvered
my way up to the front,” said Baron. “It’s good
to stick it on the box today. It was a lot of
work to get these cars ready for this round. I
was still waiting for parts last week, so I’m
glad we made it and we finished on the podium.”
Baron also debuted a new Polaris RZR turbo in
the Unlimited Class. While he was fast, the car
suffered some teething problems late in the event.
“It was really fast, but it just overheated,”
explained Baron. “It’s a great car. It handles
really great from the factory and it’s really
fast. It just needs some help cooling with these
triple digit temperatures and we’ll be in there.”
Mystik Lubricant’s Mickey Thomas held off Baron
for the first four laps falling to fourth. Thomas
was happy, though, to be getting up to speed in
WORCS competition in his rookie year. “I’m happy
to have a fourth and it’s good for the points,”
said Thomas. “I’m starting to run right on pace.
Everything is really coming together at the end
of the season. This is my first season, so I hope
to come back next season and be a top contender.”

In the Pro Stock Class, Ray Bulloch outmatched
holeshot winner Codey Rowley to net his second
victory this season with a remarkable 39-second
margin of victory. Rowley clinched the championship
with a second-place finish. Dustin Nelson returned
to WORCS competition and debuted the new Yamaha
YXZ 1000R, finishing third in the nearly stock
machine.

“My luck definitely changed,” said Bulloch. “I
had mishaps in qualifying and in the unlimited
race. I was a little sore and a little nervous
going into this race. But we really have the car
dialed in and we put it all together today. I’m
glad I was able to show I’m not a ‘one win wonder.’”
