Lake Havasu is one of the most popular rounds
of the WORCS series, but record high temperatures
reaching the 99 degree mark made for some brutal
racing conditions, and many racers splashed through
the track side lake for some relief from the heat,
but despite the conditions, Mitch Guthrie Jr was
up to the challenge as he charged his way to victory
in the WORCS SxS Pro class.

Nelson & Nelson’s Mitch Guthrie, Jr. had
a good start and was in a three way battle with
Ryan Piplic and RJ Anderson for the lead. “The
start was gnarly. Ryan and RJ and I were all battling
and going way too fast. We swapped positions a
few times, and I was finally able to keep second,”
said Guthrie.

Lagoon Jump |
Guthrie Jr began to close in on Anderson and
was able to take over the lead when Anderson encountered,
and once out front, Guthrie Jr ran a solid race
to hold off Piplic . “It was rough out there,
but my Walker Evans shocks soaked up all the rough
stuff and the lagoon jump. It felt great to take
the win here in Havasu. This is one of my favorite
rounds. I love running by the water and it’s just
a fun place to race,” said Guthrie.

FOX’s Ryan Piplic was strong off the start and
immediately began to battle for the lead. “We
were battling it out, and when RJ dropped back,
it was just me and Guthrie. About three laps in,
I lost my brakes, which slowed me down a bit,
and I just couldn’t catch Guthrie,” explained
Piplic.
