WORCS racers were greeted with near record breaking heat in the Arizona desert with temps reaching 99 degrees both days this weekend, but fortunately, on Sunday, a hazy layer of clouds provided little respite from the scorching sun for the Pro ATV Main event in the Afternoon.

Track conditions were rough and rocky; just what racers have come to expect from Lake Havasu, but this year they groomed parts of the track after the motorcycle race, so it as actually not as rought as in years past, and the famous lagoon jump was shortened up, so nearly everyone jumped it unlike the entire race effortless without any mishaps on Sunday, but that wasn’t the case during practice on Friday.

On Friday, the lagoon lump had a bigger lip on it, and a motorcycle racer wrecked bad over it, so it was tamed down for the races. Also, Beau Baron crashed during pratice on a step down jump and his axle broke on both sides, which sent him flipping over the bars, and injured his shoulder in the process. “During practice, there was a step down that I had hit about four or five times with no problem in my first practice. I was one of the first guys out for second practice and I came around the left hander before it and came off the lip. As soon as my back tires hit the ground I heard a loud noise and my swing arm and frame hit the ground and I went flipping down the hill. Both sides of my axle snapped off at the same time. I got hurt pretty good and messed up my shoulder,” said Baron.

Fortunately, it was his left arm, so Baron decided to race through the pain on Sunday with just the use of his right hand on the gas to salvage some points in the WORCS Pro ATV championship race.
