Epping, NH (5/16/13) - The New England ATV MX series headed North for the 3rd round of the series as MX101 in Epping, New Hampshire played host for the round on Mother’s Day weekend. An NEATV-MX season wouldn’t be complete without at least one mud race, and this weekend proved to be just that, for at least half of the event. The week leading up to the race was shrouded in heavy rain clouds and when Saturday evening rolled around the clouds banged with clatter and opened up to let the rain down and soak the sandy track. The racers were greeted with soupy conditions in the early motos which presented an increasingly difficult and rutted up track which later turned into a drier highly-grooved race surface once the sun came out.

Anthony Desroches - Can-Am DS450 ATV

The NEATV-MX Pros headed to the line first with their mud-prepped quads and goggles packed with fresh tear-offs to await the gate drop. A new face was present on the starting gate and that new face was brought into the light at the Pros tore off the gate and the #199 Can-Am DS450 racer Anthony Desroches snagged a commanding Holeshot in front of the pro pack to go into the early lead on the muddy course.

Mathieu DeRoy - Can-Am DS450 ATV
Mathieu Deroy secured the win in Moto 1 on his DWT / Can-Am DS450 ATV

PLX Sport / DWT’s #70 Mathieu Deroy went on to give chase to fellow Canadian Desroches and hunt him down towards the final laps to make a solid pass and go on to take the moto one win. Deroy was an ever-present force in the beginning of the motos coming out of the Holeshot in second place with Mike Skalaski and Preston Young directly behind him pushing through the first turn. Deroy waiting until the right moment and presented himself as the most dominant racer of moto one after he slipped by Desroches to take the lead and the win.

Mathieu DeRoy - Can-Am DS450 ATV
#70 placed second in Pro Moto 2 earning his first ever NEATV-MX Pro Overall win

Moto two for Ultimate ATV / Elka Suspension’s Mathieu Deroy was wildly different as he came off the line in 5th place following Preston Young’s commanding Holeshot Deroy was forced to do battle amongst the top 5 for the early part of the race and fight his way up. Deroy took up the challenge and did just that as he passed his way up through the mud-slung pack and landed himself in second place settling in behind fellow Can-Am mounted Travis Moore. Deroy crossed the line and was nothing but smiles as he knew he had just won his first-ever Pro overall in the USA based NEATV-MX series!
