Golden West Cycle’s Jason
Dunkelberger was not in love with the track
either as he expressed after the race. He was
able to finish in sixth place overall on the
day after going 6-5 in the Pro clas. “My
clutch got so hot on the first Pro start that
it actually swelled up and stalled the quad
out so I didnt get a very good start but was
able to work my way up through the pack in both
of my motos. I feel really good and everyone
here is fast which I like, I’m going to
try to make as many of the next races as I can
that do not conflict with my Yamaha ITP QuadCross
Series back on the West coast. Overall it was
a good weekend with a lot of talented riders,”
said Dunk afterwards.

Jason Connell (2nd) |
The action at Capeway did not
stop there as the Pro-Am racers were next up
on the gate!
In Pro-Am moto one it was Canadian
Jasmin Plante out front with the holeshot followed
by Southside Polaris’ Randy Lehr, Joe
Haavisto, and Cody Miller. Jason Connell and
Mike Pilotte would connect on the start and
become a tangled ball as they were both sent
flipping with Pilotte getting the worst of it.
Both riders would continue the race moments
later with Connell finishing in 10th and Pilotte
in 14th.

Jasmin
Plante was again up front on the holeshot
during the Pro-Am moto one start which
also saw Jason Connell and Michael Pilotte
in a smashup (far left) |
Plante’s charge up front
would not last long however as Cody Miller was
back on the gas with his sights set on the top
of the podium. Miller was trailing Plante for
much of the first moto but on lap 6 Miller was
able to slip by Plante on a tight corner to
gain the lead and hold it ‘til the end
only a few short laps later.

Cody
Miller had his BCS Can-Am DS450 ATV
dialed in to the slippery sands of Capeway
as he laid claim to back-to-back wins
in the Pro-Am class going 1-1 on the
day - both times he would battle with
Plante before taking the checkered flags |
Pro-Am moto two was equally as
good for Miller, but this time it was just a
little bit sweeter for him as he grabbed the
holeshot and lead for the entire 8-lapper to
go 1-1 on the day and claim the overall win.
“ I got great starts and just rode my
race, the track was fast and got rough in some
spots, my Can-Am handled it really well all
day,” said Miller after the win.
