Jason Connell was out front and running away
with the show as Michael Pilotte and Joe Haavisto
had a battle of their own for the second and
third place spots. Connell set his mind on cruise
control and began using the open track to his
advantage as he went on to take the moto win.
“I haven’t even ridden since the
last race at Hurricane Hills, I was fresh coming
into this moto and I just rode my own race.
I’m really happy to take my first Pro
moto win and I can thanks my Mom and Dad, Walsh,
and Elka enough for helping me out,” said
Jason after the moto.

Walsh/Elka's
Jason Connell put on a great show in the
Pro class taking the moto one win well
in head of the competition after he grabbed
the holeshot, in moto two he got off to
a mid pack start & fought his way
up to 4th place to go 1-4 for 2nd overall
on the day |
In Pro Moto two, Jason was towards the rear
of the pack off the start but quickly advanced
up to fourth place by the half-way point of
the short Capeway course and this would also
be his final finishing spot of the moto as well.
Connell would do battle with Motoworks’
Joe Haavisto, with Haavisto sliding back into
sixth place after Yamaha’s Jason Dunkelberger
slipped up into fifth place. Connell’s
1-4 set of moto finishes were good enough to
get him 2nd place overall on the Pro Podium,
his best finish of his career to date.
BCS Performance’s Can-Am racer Cody Miller
would round out the Pro Podium after going 5-1
on Sunday. In Moto one Miller had a bad start
out of the gate and was sitting in last place
by the end of lap one. From there, Miller put
the hammer down and worked his way through the
vicious Pro pack and was able to make his was
back up into fifth place before the checkers
flew three laps later.

Performance / Can-Am's Cody Miller had
his work cut out for him in the first
Pro Moto which saw him dashing up through
the Pro pack enroute to a 5th place finish,
in Moto two however he was the man with
the target on his back as he was the leader
out front by over 6 seconds - his 5-1
finishes would get him 3rd overall on
the podium & retake back the Pro Points
leads |
In the second Pro moto however, Miller was
on the opposite end off the start, this time
taking the holeshot and checking out on the
field to take home the win. Once out front,
Cody never looked back as Pilotte and Plante
had a battle of their own for the 2nd and 3rd
place finishes. By the end of the race, Miller
had built up a 6+ second lead on the pack and
with his 5-1 moto finishes, this was good enough
for him to take home third place overall in
the Pro class at Capeway.
“ I’m happy with my third place
finish concidering I had some bad luck in the
first moto. The second moto went really well
for me, I got the holeshot and just rode my
own race from there, the track isn’t really
that technical but it was fast. I’m really
happy to be back in the points lead as well
and I can’t thank Can-Am and BCS for helping
me to get there!,” said Cody after the
contest.
Following Miller off the podium in fourth place
was Yamaha’s Jasmin Plante who went 4-2
after a few hard fought battles throughout the
day. “Everyone was going really fast today
and the track was narrow and slick so it was
hard to put down a good run and do any passing.
My Yamaha ran great and held up all day,”
said Plante after the race.

Jasmin Plante went 4-2 on the day at Capeway
which would put him in 4th place overall |
Motoworks'
Joe Haavisto landed in 5th place overall
after he went 3-6 in the Pro class at
round 8 |
Joe Haavisto was off to a great start in the
first moto running in first place before the
restart was ordered, but ended up in 3rd place
on the second go around. Moto two did not treat
him as well either with a sixth place finish.
His 3-6 finishes for the day would have him
rounding out the top 5 of the Pro class.
