AMA ATV MX Nationals
- Ballance MX - Pro ATV Race Report
::Continued::
American Honda’s Joe Byrd had a mid-pack
start and was right behind Chase Snapp, who he
was able to pass in the fourth lap, but Snapp
fought back and the most heated battle of the
moto began. The battle raged on for the entire
moto, but Byrd would eventually fall back to sixth
before reaching the finish line.
Byrd got a good start in moto two in third, but
quickly fell back. Byrd appeared to be struggling
with his suspension through most of the moto and
would take a tenth place finish, giving him seventh
overall.
Mushin Racing’s Travis Moore hung on for
ninth in moto one and came back to take eighth
in moto two, giving him eighth overall
Harold Goodman got a decent start in the first
moto as he came off the line in fourth place,
but fell back to round out the top ten. Goodman
claimed an 11th place finish in moto two, giving
him ninth overall.
Thomas Brown just can’t seem to catch a
break this season and again ran into mechanical
issues in the first moto. For the second moto,
Brown was looking for redemption and he charged
his way to a fifth place finish, but his unfortunate
issues in moto one would only allow him to finish
in tenth overall.
Derek Swartfager took 13-9 finishes for 11th
overall with Adam Clark finishing in 12th and
Jon Ven John would take 13th overall.
Devin Heimes was second off the line in moto
one, but John Natalie was hot on his heels and
got around before the end of lap two. Heimes was
holding his own, but appeared to tire and fell
back for an eight place finish. Unfortunately
his luck would not hold out for moto two and he
was forced to DNF with a mechanical issue.
Joel Hetrick had bad luck as he encountered mechanical
issues in both motos.
Yamaha/Ballance Racing’s Taylor Kiser made
his pro motocross debut but things didn’t
go so well for him in the first moto his axle
snapped over a jump. Kiser landed ok, but that
was the end of the moto for him. Kiser came back
to finish 14th in moto two after once again having
a get off, giving him 16th overall.
Round number four of the 2011 AMA ATV Motocross
Championships will head to Budds Creek MX in Mechanicville,
MD on April 16th – 17th where the Can-Am/Motoworks
team of Chad Wienen and John Natalie will again
be going for podium domination.
