WORCS Racing Pro & Amateur ATV Race Report
::Continued::

Beau Baron's win catapulted his privateer into the spotlight as he is quickly becoming a serious threat to Josh Frederick for the championship with Baron moving in the 2nd spot behind in the Pro points chase behind reigning champion, Josh Frederick. “I’m really stoked about being up there in the points race. When I started racing this year, my goal was to get in the top 5, now my goals are a little higher,” Baron said determinedly.

Motoworks / Can-Am's Brandon Smith makes his return to the Podium, and is now in a 3 Way tie for 7th in Points with Robbie Mitchell & Tim Shelman

As racers began to cross the finish line, it was Robbie Mitchell who came across in 2nd, which is his second straight podium finish on his new DATS Kawasaki KFX450R ride. Can-Am/Motoworks’ Brandon Smith made an impressive charge from the back, while overcoming the challenge of not having a clutch, and loosing his rear brakes in the 3rd lap, to finish in an impressive 3rd place, which would also be his 2nd time on the podium. Dustin Nelson overcame his tire issues and claimed a respectable 4th place. “My mechanic did a great job! I was only in the pits for about 20 seconds before I was able to get back out there,” said Dustin.

#61 Dax Snow (6th Place) & #258 Jorie Williams (7th Place) secured season best finishes as they pressured each for position the entire race

In 5th place was Tim Shelman, who flipped in the off-camber section and had to work his way back to the front. “I just kept charging and picking off guys one at a time,” said Shelman of his impressive comeback. Shelman, along with Dustin Nelson, Robbie Mitchell, Dax Snow, Doug Eichner, Josh Frederick and Brandon Smith put on a free Pro clinic on Saturday evening for the youth riders that were in attendance. Different topics were handled by different pros through out the session. Eichner gave advise on starts, Frederick and Smith discussed cornering, Nelson and Shelman gave pointers on jumping and Mitchell and Snow talked about how to get sponsors. After the clinic all the kids were given WORCS trading cards and posters so they could have their favorite racers sign them at the autograph session that followed.
