Terracross Pro RZR Championship

Luburgh’s second championship didn’t come easy,
and hadn’t bad luck hit RJ Anderson in the second
of two races on the weekend, the results might
have been much different. Luburgh claimed the
round five win, ahead of Cody Rahders and Dana
Creech, which gave him the boost in points he
needed to secure the championship.

Racing's Jason Luburgh claimed his first
Terracross Championship win at Round Five
after grabbing the early lead
|
“That’s all they ever asked me about in the TV
interviews: ‘You’ve won a championship, but you’ve
never won a race,’” said Luburgh who only finished
off the podium once this year. “I couldn’t have
asked for a better season. I didn’t have any real
major mechanical issues and the only race I didn’t
podium was the finale.”

Walker Evans Racing’s RJ Anderson finished second
in points on the merit of two wins. The result
might have been different as he was running second
in the final round of the season and was challenging
for the lead, but in the final laps, he broke
an A-arm, which took him out of contention.

Racing's RJ Anderson finished out the
year 2nd place in the Terracross Championship
points race
|
“We came away with two wins in six races, so
it was a great year,” said Anderson. “Jason, Mickey
and I had a great battle coming down to the wire.
I overheated a little bit in the second-to-last
round. I had a gap to make up because Jason won
that race. I was running second in the last race,
but I broke the front end off the car and that
ended my day. It was an intense battle all the
way to the end.”
An intense battle it was and no one saw more
of that intensity than Mickey Thomas. Thomas finished
the season third in points with one victory. Thomas
overcame mechanical problems during the season
to put in the podium finish in the standings.
He was pleased with the company he’s keeping in
the title chase.

out the 3rd in the Terracross Championship
points race
|
“I’m pretty happy with the results,” said Thomas.
“To finish third in points behind RJ Anderson
and Jason Luburgh, I am in pretty good company.
I had a lot of problems this year, so to come
out third is pretty amazing.”
