ATVriders.com's Mickey Thomas Finshed 3rd Overall for the Year

The track was created among the Imperial Sand Dunes using sand and chain link fencing on the faces of the jumps. The unique course was a test of both man and machine, and unfortunately, many of the Polaris RZRs, including Thomas’, suffered overheating problems from sand clogging the radiators. Thomas was contending for the lead in both races before a plugged radiator ended his day.

“It was a big sandbox, and they turned it into a really fun track,” said Thomas. “I definitely had a chance at the podium today. I was third in the first race, my car overheated and shut off. In the next round, I qualified through the LCQ and started last row. I charged from the back, but overheated again.”

Thomas finished out the 2015 Terracross Championship with two podium finishes including the win at the opening round, and he qualified for every main event, which kept him in the running for the championship and eventual top three overall finish

“I’m pretty happy with the results,” said Thomas. “To finish third in points behind RJ Anderson and Jason Luburgh, I am in pretty good company. I had a lot of problems this year, so to come out third is pretty amazing.”

Thomas has big plans for 2016. He will compete in both WORCS and TerraCross Championship once again, and is also planning to run a Pro Lite Truck in Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series series as he continues to expand on his racing experience.
