San Diego, CA (7/2/2015) – Walker
Evans Racing’s RJ Anderson bounced back from a crash
in the first round to take the second round win
during the doubleheader opening rounds of the Terracross
Championship at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. LSR / FOX’s
Branden Sims finished second, ahead of defending
Terracross Champion, Jason Luburgh, who equaled
his third-place finish in round one to take over
the early points lead in the 2015 Terracross Championship.

Race two of the Terracross Pro RZR doubleheader
was held on the same technical course as round
one, which was extremely challenging with the
4WD disabled on all the Polaris RZR XP 1000 machines
since the differentials kept breaking during practice.

RJ Anderson once again grabbed the holeshot in
the second round for the early lead followed by
Mickey Thomas, but in a reverse twist of fate,
Thomas ran into issues in lap one, which sent
him to the back of the pack while Anderson began
to pull away from the pack.

Round One winner, Mickey Thomas

Even after several restarts that tightened up
the field, Anderson was up to the challenge and
held the lead from start to finish to secure the
round two win. “This is like déjà vu from 2014,”
said Anderson, who crashed in the first of two
races here that past two years. “Last year, we
started up front in both races, broke in the first
race and won in the second race. So this was like
history repeating itself. I would have liked to
do better in the first race, but this so fun.
This is the only track that has a concrete section,
what I like to call a “Super Moto.” It’s so unnatural
to throw a RZR sideways on the concrete and that’s
a lot of fun.

After two rounds of Terracross racing, Anderson
is now third in the Pro RZR points race “Terracross
racing; you never know. Just to be in the top
three lets you know you’re doing something right,”
explained Anderson. “What I love about it is that
we get to put on a great show on such a small
course. This is honestly the best racing that
appeals to the public. We run basically stock
RZR side-by-sides that basically anyone can buy
and come racing, running them on a track that
is so tight and so much fun.”
