::Continued::
Lonestar Racing’s Branden Sims kept Anderson
honest, challenging him on every restart before
recording the runner-up finish on the podium in
his first year of Terracross racing. “This definitely
helps my desert program,” said Sims, a desert
racing veteran and BITD UTV World Champion. “RJ
was very fast…he always is. I tried to stick to
his rear bumper to see if he made a mistake and
that opportunity didn’t come. To come back and
finish second in this one is really nice.”

impressive 2nd place finish in the second
round of the Terracross Championship

The most impressive charge in the race came from
Keystone Automotive’s Jason Luburgh. After qualifying
through the LCQ, forcing him to start 15 seconds
behind the first row, he drove through the field,
making several late-race passes to nab the last
spot on the podium and take over the points lead
from Thomas.

big double in the center of the Del Mar
Arena, which claimed his fair share of
racers over the two day event
|
“Through all of the wrecks and everything else
that happened, I made it up to third,” said Luburgh.
“I stayed consistent through the race and finally
found a groove with the two-wheel drive on this
track. I could pull off moves in two-wheel drive
that would flip me in four-wheel drive. I held
the hammer down. Two podiums and the points lead…I’ll
take that.”

Darren Parsons’ was filling in for #66 Josh Cobb
at the opening weekend of the Terracross Championship,
and after having his fair share of issues early
on in the heat races, Parsons put together a solid
run in second round main event to claim a fourth
place finish while he didn’t qualify for the opening
round.

Rounding out the top five was Mystik Lubricants
Daryl Rath, the racing veteran from Minnesota.
Rath was in the running for a podium finish, but
dropped back to fifth late in the race, and he
finished seventh in the opening round for a successful
weekend of Pro RZR racing at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
