The second moto went better for Nelson, despite being sore he wanted to get out there and earn as many points as possible. He had a great start and was in second behind Baron. Haagsma was right on his bumper and he was able to hold him off for a few laps, but had to step it down a little because he was sore. Nelson was able to keep the third spot and his 6-3 finishes earned him third overall for the round.

“I was bummed not to be able to go for the win this weekend, but after everything I feel great to have earned third and still have a good hold in the points chase. Everything worked well and luck was on my side to let me finish in the third spot,” said Nelson.
Tanner Gemprele raced his #93 Yamaha to his strongest finish of the season. Gemprele earned fourth after scoring 4-5 in the motos. Gemperle put his Braap Shop Yamaha in solid contention in the first moto and avoided the carnage from Nelson’s wreck. In moto two, Gemprele put in another strong ride and crossed the checkers in fifth.

Yamaha’s Josh Row rounded out the top five for the round. He scored 3-8 on his FOX / Walsh Race Craft Yamaha YFZ450R ATV. Row put on a strong charge in moto one and was able to capitalize on other racers mistakes. He crossed the finish in third; the second moto didn’t go as well for Row as he scored eighth position.

Garrin Fuller had a few troubles in moto one and finished eighth; he rebounded on his Honda 450R ATV and earned fourth in moto two. His 8-4 finishes earned him sixth for the day. GPS Offroad Products / Can-Am’s Collins Webster scored 5-7 to earn seventh while Dylan Dixon finished eighth with a score of 7-6.

Racing action for the Yamaha Quad-X Series resumes June 30th at Comp Edge in Hesperia, California. We can bet that the motos will be intense as David Haagsma looks to continue his points lead while Beau Baron and Dustin Nelson try their hardest to best the young defending champion.
