H&M Motorsports’ Beau Baron gave Haagsma a run for his money in the first moto. Baron was third off the line, but quickly took over second position and fell into sync behind his teammate. He latched onto Haagsma’s bumper, but was unable to make a clean pass.

In moto two, Baron used his Sparks Engine to grab the Holeshot and charge away with the lead. He cruised in the lead for much of the moto. A few laps into the race Haagsma began to challenge him but Baron was able to hold him off until two laps to go.

“I had a good hold on the inside line, he was really moving and used his momentum to get around me on the outside,” said Baron of the pass the Haagsma put on him.
Baron continued to push after Haagsma and stayed on his rear bumper, but was unable to make any passes stick. He crossed the finish in second. His 2-2 scores earned him second for the round.
“I really wanted the win, but I’m happy for Davi (Haagsma) and I’ll take second for the weekend,” regarded Baron after the race.

#94 Dustin Nelson finished third overall despite a hard crash in Pro Moto 1 |
Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson had bad luck in moto one. Nelson was in sixth coming through the first few turns and pushed through the pack to take over the third spot midway through the moto. He was pushing to challenge Haagsma and Baron when he caught a hole and both he and his Yamaha wrecked on the landing side of a blind table top. The first two racers behind him were able to navigate around him, but the next two hit him and his quad as they landed the jump. Nelson wasn’t seriously injured, but both he and his Yamaha YFZ450R were a little beat up.

“It took me a while to get up and once I knew I was ok I just wanted to ride and salvage some points. I definitely wasn’t feeling too great, but was happy nothing worse came of it,” regarded Nelson of his crash. Nelson was able to race into the sixth spot and earn valuable points for the race.
