Lempster, NH - Jolly Roger Motorsports
Park in East Lempster, New Hampshire played host
to round 10 of the New England ATV MX Series on
August 4-5th. This race would witness another
dominating performance by BCS Performance/Can-Am
ATV racer Cody Miller as he would sweep both the
Pro and Pro-Am classes, although not having perfect
1-1 motos. Miller would have his hands full with
DRT/KTM’s Michael Pilotte in both classes
as he was on a mission to the front as well, finishing
second overall in both classes.

|
Weather
conditions for Jolly was a little bit
cooler than most would have liked but
nevertheless people still made it out
to watch the racing action. One person
who was out & about was Pro NEATV-MX
racer Jason Connell who helped to pick
rock in between motos |
Everyone would have loved to continue the trend
of nice, warm weather as we have had since the
early rounds of the series, but with the onset
of Hurricane Earl working it’s way up
the eastern seaboard, coats and sweaters were
of the essence for this weekend. Temperatures
were said to dip into the 40’s overnight
which left a lot of people scrambling for their
blankets. Nevertheless, the action on the track
was as hot as ever as the big guns of the pro
class didn’t let the weather affect their
speed on the track.
Pro moto one got underway and would see Yamaha
Canada’s Jasmin Plante come out of the
gate with more speed than the other racers to
take the holeshot heading into the first right
hander. DRT/KTM’s Michael Pilotte was
right behind Plante out of the holeshot along
with BCS/Can-Am teammates Cody Miller and Myles
Santaniello.
|
Jasmin
Plante had the Pro holeshots down pat
as he secured the win to the first corner
& lead the pack out onto the field
but would later drop back because of mechanical
issues |
Cody Miller of BCS Performance/Can-Am would
come out swinging in the first moto and slot
into the third place position out of the gate
right behind Plante in the lead and Pilotte
in second. Miller would not give up for the
entire 8-lapper to continue pressuring the front
leaders and wait for a mistake. A break would
come halfway through the race as Pilotte would
move up to the lead and allow Miller to begin
working on getting around Plante. By the time
the flag flew only a few laps later, Miller
found himself sitting in second place ahead
of Plante as well.

|
"My
IdolSpeed Holeshot device helped me to
take very consistent holeshots at Jolly
& helped me to take both overall wins,"
said Miller after the event who went on
to take both the Pro & the Pro-Am
overall wins |

Joe
Haavisto would get into a first turn crash
during the Pro Moto two holeshot &
would be sent across the ground as his
ATV would be sent airborne and nearly
come into contact with Cody Miller's quad
on the way back down |
For Pro moto two, Miller would again come out of the holeshot in the top 3, but
a massive crash by fellow Can-Am racer, Joe Haavisto
would cause the race to restarted. No contact
from other racers, Haavisto would be sent sideways
in the first turn and ejected from the quad which
would become airborne and nearly strike Miller
on its way back to the ground.
Luckily for Miller he would go back to restart
the race, but for Haavisto he would be checked
over by medical professionals and cleared to
return to his trailer to recuperate. No serious
injuries were sustained by Haavisto and is recovering
at the time of this writing. Miller would restart
the race and get a top 5 out of the holeshot
but incredibly work his way up to the first
place position before crossing the finish line
after battling to get around Honda mounted Jason
Connell and KTM’s Michael Pilotte. He
would go on to take the moto win and finish
2-1 on the day to take the overall win.
Rath Racing’s Michael Pilotte was on
a mission during the first Pro moto as he came
off the line in good position to make a run
to the front. After waiting for a good time
to seal a pass on race leader Plante, Pilotte
moved to first place and would hold this position
for the remainder of the 8-lapper.

Rath
Racing's Michael Pilotte would go on to
take the win during the first Pro moto
but was not able to secure the win as
he took 2nd place in the second moto allowing
Miller to take the overall. Miller now,
sits in 2nd place in the Pro points chase
heading into round 11 at Walden |
Moto two for Pilotte would go equally as well
for the majority of the race until near the
end of the battle. Pilotte was running strong
but was losing time on Cody Miller as he had
his sights set on the overall win. Pilotte would
drop back to second place before the finish
line came into sight but now currently sits
in second place in points as well and has hopes
for the championship clinch within the next
2 rounds of the series.
