#1 Joe Haavisto
played it smart in moto one & capitalized
on the mistakes of others to secure
a 2nd place finish
|
Second place went to Can-Am racer Joe Haavisto
after he made a pass on Michael Pilotte and Bobby
Ross around lap five. Haavisto then began to pull
away as he was on a mission to hunt down the first
place of Miller, unfortunately with limited passing
opportunities and heavy traffic on this tight
track prior in the race, Haavisto was unable to
make an attempt to challenge for the lead.
“ I was just following Pilotte and Ross
through the tight turns and waiting for them
to slip up a little. When I saw Pilotte reach
up for his tear-offs I knew I had a chance and
I stuck the pass. I made the pass on Ross to
take over second on one of the straights as
I jumped past him. From there I just rode my
race and played it smart,” said Joe afterwards.

Bobby Ross
was back in the hunt at his 3rd race
in the NEATV-MX series & held off
Michael Pilotte for a 3rd place finish
in moto one
|
Bobby Ross made his NEATV-MX debut in 2010
at round three at MX207 in Maine and has been
a force in the Pro and Pro-Am class ever since.
Ross was running second place for most of the
first Pro moto and was fending off pass attempts
from Jason Connell and Michael Pilotte. Pilotte
got around Ross near the middle of the race
but Ross redeemed himself as he and Haavisto
moved their way back past Pilotte in a tight,
rutted out turn near the mid-way point of the
track to retain their podium finishes for moto
one. “ Haavisto, and Pilotte went off
track and I was able to get by them earlier
in the race. Joe got back by me on one of the
back straights. When Joe and Pilotte got into
eachother in the tight corner I saw the opportunity
and I got by Pilotte the same way Joe did ”
said Ross.
Following the top three runners for Moto One
were Michael Pilotte, Jasmin Plante, Myles Santaniello,
Nate Morello, Johnny Hale, Vinny Mofford, and
Rich Stambach.
With the onset of slightly warmer temps, clearer
skies and a knowledge of the sandy track the
Pro were ready to go for Moto Two.
Jasmin Plante seemed to have the holeshot in
the bag but as he round the first turn with
Cody Miller on his side, the pair were forced
wide by Nate Morello who grabbed the holeshot
on his BCS Performance powered KTM 450SX ATV.
Miller was forced out into a secondary part
of the track and would reenter some 30 feet
later and back in the pack, forced to put his
head down and makeup time.

Nate Morello took the holeshot in Pro
Moto Two & edged out Jasmin Plante,
Cody Miller, & Joe Haavisto for the
majority of the Moto |
Following Morello after the holeshot was Joe
Haavisto, Jasmin Plante, Michael Pilotte, and
Rich Stambach. Morello was flying around the
sandy track leading the Pro pack for the entire
race until on the last lap when Jasmin Plante
was finally able to stick a pass for the lead
before the checkered flag flew only a short
time later.
“ This track is not very fast, it’s
very technical with big jumps and tight corners,
without the rain track would have been better
but it’s very fun. I started near the
back of the pack so I really had to hammer down
and focus on winning ” said Jasmin after
the race.

Nate Morello had a target on his back
for the majority of the second Pro ATV
moto as he was the holeshot winner &
leader for 7 of the 8 laps |
#91
Jasmin Plante was the only racer to get
around Morello in Moto Two in the final
laps, which earned Plante his 2nd overall
win of the year |
Nate Morello was runner up to Plante in the
Pro Moto two as he put on his most impressive
performance thus far this season. Morello blistered
off the line on his BCS Performance powered
KTM to grab the holeshot and lead for seven
out of the eight laps of the race. Unfortunately
around the fifth lap of the race, his rear shock
blew out on his KTM race quad and was forced
to run on just the spring.
