NE EDT Racing Latrobe ATV Race Report
::Continued::

Fortunately for Creech, he stayed true to his lines and came away with the win in the Pro-Am class main and inched closer to Houghton’s points lead which is now down to just three points ahead heading into the next double-header event.

Michael Houghton  NE EDT Racing

Michael Houghton nipping at the heels of Chuckie Creech during the Pro-Am Main

“Coming into this weekend after having both of my bikes taken was crazy. The only thing I can say is that I’m super grateful for all of the people who offered up a bike for me to ride at this race. As soon as people found out, my inbox was flooded with people offering up their machines and we made the decision to take Brian (Ace) up on his offer and we made some adjustments to the bike to make it work better for us. I asked him if I could run my set of tires on it and he said no problem so I through my MAXXIS tires on, made some adjustments and went out for practice. The race went really well and I got off to a great holeshot, which set me up good for the rest of the laps. I’m happy to be on top of the box for this main and I’ve gotten closer to the points lead in this class as well,” said Creech.

Michael Houghton NE EDT Racing

Michael Houghton finished in close second in the Pro-Am Class Main

Hoosier / RATH / Element44’s Michael Houghton came off the line in second place behind Creech and immediately began to apply pressure to the front-runner. Houghton switched up his choices of options lanes each lap hoping to get a wheel’s advantage over Creech heading into a turn and then out of a turn into the next, but to no avail. Houghton scraped tires and bumpers with Creech as they battled at every turn but wasn’t able to get by Creech before the end of the fifteen laps. Houghton settled for a second place finish but now stays a few steps ahead of Creech in the points chase heading into the rest of the season with only three rounds of racing left.

Brian Ace NE EDT Racing

Brian Ace was able to round out the Pro-Am main, despite starting from the penalty row

PEP / FLY Racing / Cycle Frenzy’s Brian Ace had to start from the penalty row during the Pro-Am main but he didn’t let that stop him from getting on the box! Ace came off the line with a mid-pack start and quickly began to build momentum and pick off the other racers one-by-one. Ace had to get by Justin Frindt, Tiffer Bures, and Damian King in order to get to the podium and he found the way to do just that. Ace was able to get round Frindt and then King as he pulled off to help Medlin, giving way for Ace to pursue Bures in third place. Ace eventually found his way around Bures before the checkered flag flew, putting himself on the box once again at round five and keeping his championship points run alive as well hoping for a top three as he sits in fourth place currently.

Tiffer Bures NE EDT Racing

Tiffer Bures claimed fourth again in the Pro-Am Class Main

Bures and Frindt battled it out for fourth and fifth place with Bures holding down his spot in fourth place crossing the line just after Ace, forcing Frindt to finish out the race in the top five with a fifth place finish.

The next round of the New East Extreme Dirt Track series will be held at the Busco Beach complex in Goldsboro, NC on August 21st-22nd for rounds six and seven as it is a double-header. You wont want to miss this next race as the points battle heats up and the 2015 NE-EDT championship could be decided right in North Carolina!
