NE EDT Racing Season Opener Amateur Race Report
::Continued::

As the night approached the three main events, the sound of 2 strokes with the mix of the rumble of 4 strokes could be heard as the 3 wheelers came to the line. One could find several of the TPC Trikes on hand and some classics like an ’86 ATC250r and a ATC 200x lined up for this race. With the TPC Trikes holeshot was up for grab it was be the #1 rider and last years 3 wheeler champion Bill Casey on a TPC Trike powering himself to capture the $100 holeshot award and the #1 spot for the start of this race.

As the race got under way the spectators were entertained with a close race for 1st between Mac Moore from Red Lion, PA piloting a classic Honda 200x, Josh Marshall, and Matt Bills with the long time national pro rider Doug Crossway piloting a ATC 250r pushing his way up towards the lead as the race progressed.

Moore moved into the lead as Joshua Marshall ran into some mechanical problems to drop out of the race leaving the battle for the second place up for grabs as the oldest rider of the day Mac Moore was able to put his experience to use on a more technical track to pull away in first place.

Crossway was able to put down some fast laps and able to catch up Casey to put up a fight for third place as they moved to some side by side racing towards the end of the race.  With the battle for third in place, this allowed Bills to move comfortably into second place where he stayed for the remainder of the race. Moore went on to capture the win, followed by Bills, and Casey who was able to hold off Crossway for the last spot on the podium.

Up next was the first main event race as the HB Racing NE EDT series top amateur class the All Purpose Solutions sponsored Pro Lites class. With 19 riders lining up, that meant there was a $630 purse available plus a Turtle Racing Engines $100 holeshot award up for the series top amateur riders.

The top qualifiers were Jason Fisher from Black Lick, PA, and Daniel Bennett from Winterville, NC getting the first gate picks for this main event. As the rumble of 4 strokes got louder the light turned green and the #185 pilot Chris Landreth put his TRX450R over the line first to capture the TRE Holeshot award being chased closely by Fisher, Matt Schaeffer, Paula Shank and Bennett who were the top 5 riders at the start of the race.
