Batavia, NY (8/21/2012) – The North East EDT Series headed to Batavia Motor Speedway for round 7, the final round of the series in early August to lay down some rubber on the tight, and technical track prior to the upcoming EDT National race on the 23-24th. The promoters at Batavia were proud to announce there was a whole fresh batch of virgin clay laid down onto the track only one short day before we arrived, which made for extremely dusty conditions during practice, but a super hooked-up track during the night main events!

The heats got underway after a 3pm practice session leading into the afternoon which saw the NEEDT racers battling it out for first gate picks for the evening’s main events.

Brian Ace grabbed the NEEDT Pro Class Holeshot at Batavia

In the Pro main event, #338 Hellbound’s Brian Ace was the man on top after a failing brake issue in the Pro-Am main. Ace had his Honda TRX450R ATV dialed in for the Pro main event as he came off the line with a blistering Holeshot and fast lap around the solid track. Ace, wanting to capture the Pro points lead and put a solid figure between himself and Tiffer Bures, held onto this lead and actually lapped the 4th place rider on his way to the checkered flag.

“I knew Tiffer and I were tied for Pro points headed into this round and I was super bummed with the brakes messing up on me earlier in the night. We went to work on the quad immediately after the last race and got the brakes back in check and didn’t touch anything else because the rest of the bike was flawless. I came out and got a really good Holeshot, and just stayed cleaned and didn’t try to override the track. It was grooving up really nicely out here and I’ve always been a fan of this track! We had a lot of fun this weekend, I was able to take back over the Pro NEEDT points lead which I’m super happy about, and I can’t wait for the national here in a few weeks!”, said Ace after the event.

Kris Bures - Honda 450R ATV

Kris Bures stayed in second place from start to finish in the Pro Class at Batavia

#21 Tru-Way Racing / Hellbound / Baldwin Motorsport’s Kris “Tiffer” Bures came out of the Holeshot in the Pro class with a solid second place start and stuck with this position until the checkered flag flew, 20 grueling laps later. Tiffer kept pace with Ace off the start and the pair stuck together, staying ahead of Andrew Evanyke in 3rd and Mike Houghton in 4th, for the first few laps and then the pack began to separate. With Ace up front running an astonishing pace, Tiffer was left to fend off Evanyke for the next few laps. Evanyke stalled3 out going into a turn which then allowed Bures to catch his breath and run his pace in second place until the end.

“My Tru-Way / Hoosier Tire’s Honda was running great for me during the entire day for the heats and the mains. The track was super loose earlier but then got super hooked up during the main event because all of the moisture came back up out of that fresh clay. Ace was haulin’ up front and I just couldn’t hold that pace with him for the entire race despite my best efforts! I felt really good on the bike and I had it dialed right in for the tight track. I know I rode my hardest during the race and let it all hang out! We are all excited for the double header weekend for the nationals here in a few weeks as well!”, said Tiffer afterward.
