4x Quadcross Champion, Dustin Nelson, was
awarded a family cruise vacation from Yamaha |
“I hadn’t rode for about two and a half
weeks because of my injury, and I knew I only had
to finish one moto to take the championship, but
I really wanted to end the season with a win. Beau
was right there the entire time and he was riding
really good, so I knew I had to be on top of things
to take that win,” said Nelson.
In celebration of his fourth championship for
Yamaha, the manufacturer awarded Nelson with a
Cruise of his choice for himself and his family.
“I’m really happy to be able to give
Yamaha another championship. I had a good season
and I am looking forward to that cruise so my
family and I can have a little fun and relax,”
said Nelson, who will be returning to defend his
championship again next season.
MCR/Maxxis Tire’s Beau Baron, who was also
not feeling 100% due to a cold, was still on top
of things and determined to make Dustin Nelson
work for his win. Baron grabbed the moto one holeshot
and led for one lap before Nelson got around him,
but Baron was relentless in his pursuit and stayed
right on Nelson’s grab bar until reaching
the checkered flag in a solid second place.

Maxxis'
Beau Baron shadowed Dustin Nelson both Motos
& he made a last minute pass attempt
before the checkered flag, but finished
right behind Nelson for 2nd Overall |
In moto two, Baron charged off the line right
behind Nelson and in the final lap of the race,
Baron took advantage of one of the new option
lanes and caught up to Nelson. “The new
track layout was awesome. I was right on Dustin
and took the option lane and caught him. We were
tire to tire and it was almost a photo finish
at the finish line, but he got me by just a little
bit,” explained Baron, who would claim second
overall and second in the pro points championship.

CT Racing's Justin Noss was able to hold
off Jason Dunkelberger in Moto Two to claim
a Top 3 Finish |
Yamaha’s Justin Noss had a fight on his hands
as Jason Dunkelberger and Jason Fife were in hot
pursuit for the number three spot in moto one. Noss
was in sixth off the line but quickly made his way
into fourth and chased down Evan Thatcher for third,
but Noss had his hands full as Fife and Dunkelberger
challenged him. Noss was eventually able to pull
away and claim a solid third.
In moto two, Noss got a much better start in
third and held his position all the way to the
checkered flag. Noss’s 3-3 finishes gave
him third overall for the day and he also claimed
third in the pro points chase.
