Union, SC - TurnKey UTV / Can-Am’s
#1 Kyle Chaney won the GNCC Racing XC1 Pro SxS class
and topped the GNC Overall SxS podium at Big Buck,
round four of the 2015 GNCC series, where he was
joined by fellow Can-Am racers, Wicked Bilt’s Treavis
Poynter and JB Racing’s Larry Hendershot, while
Coastal Racing / Polaris’ John Henry took the win
in the SxS XC2 class.

As the sport of GNCC SxS Racing continues to
grow in popularity so has the level of competition,
and the competition has become more intense than
ever this season. There were 32 entries just in
the GNCC SxS XC1 Pro class alone at Big Buck and
it led to some great racing on the tight course.

the GNCC XC1 Pro SxS class

Can-Am’s Kyle Chaney got off to a second place
start on the second row, but he was quickly able
to take over the lead in his row before the end
of lap one, and he began his charge after the
racers on the front row as he was now racing against
the clock with his second row start. “We thought
it was going to be a wide open track, but it wasn’t.
It was rough and tight and nothing like what we
thought it would be when we walked it. We started
out a little slow behind Larry Hendershot, but
he made a mistake and we got around him. I knew
Treavis was up there and we saw him, and we just
kept pushing and we ended up with the win,” said
Chaney.

2014 GNCC Racing SxS Champion, #1 Kyle
Chaney, started on the second row after
a ninth place finish at the season opener,
but he quickly charged his way into the
second row lead
|
Chaney was able to close the gap to less than
30 seconds in the final lap of the shortened race
due to a SxS catching fire during the race, and
took the checkered flag for the win by just over
one second. “We put it where we needed to today.
We had a little trouble down in Georgia, but we
did what we had to do. The Can-Am was working
awesome today and we had a smooth race,” added
co-pilot Chris Bithell.

Wicked Bilt / Can-Am’s Treavis Poynter, who took
the first win of the season at the General, looked
as if he was headed for the top of the box after
grabbing the Holeshot and holding the physical
lead from start to finish. “I grabbed the holeshot
and tried to put as much distance between me and
everyone else as soon as possible. I was leading
most of the race until that last lap, and Kyle
got me by 1.06 seconds on adjusted time. Everything
went just how we hoped it would, but we missed
the win by just a couple of seconds. We are here
for a championship, so we are looking good for
now. We have a win and a second so we have the
points lead and are in good shape for a championship
at the end of the season,” said Poynter.
