Brycen Neal & Landon Wolfe
#17 Brycen Neal leads #18 Landon Wolfe up the hill climb at the John Penton GNCC

Landon Wolfe showed that even a damaged foot can’t stop him. Wolfe missed round six after sustaining an injury at a local race to his Achilles heel. He grabbed the early lead in the XC2 class and dropped to second on lap two. He rode in second, uncontested, until the checkers flew on lap five.  Wolfe is currently ranked third in the XC2 points. Fred Marley earned third to take his third podium of the season. Marley is currently fourth in XC2 points.

It was a very close race and went down to the wire for top Top Amateur honors as College A (16-21) racers Marshal Goings and Jay Shadron battled to the checkers. Goings came out on top and bested Shadron by a slim 00:00.165. Goings’ impressive race earned him the class win, Top Amateur and ninth overall. Shadron rounded out the top ten overall.

The morning race brought Schoolboy racer, Westley Wolfe, to the center of the podium for his second overall win. Wofle won the morning overall by an impressive 2:18. Wolfe is currently ranked second in the Schoolboy class. Rob Smith put his Can-Am Renegade into the second podium spot.  The U2 racer earned his third class win this year and third overall podium. Smith is currently leading the U2 Class. Kylie Ahart kept her perfect season alive with her seventh win in a row. The Women’s class leader also earned her first overall podium of the season. Ahart came in third overall, less than one minute behind Smith.

In just two weeks the top off road racers will be back at it in Masontown, West Virginia at the Parts Unlimited Mountaineer Run GNCC. The race is close to home for many top pros including West Virginia’s Adam McGill and Pennsylvania’s Chris Bithell. There is no doubt that they will each be vying for their first win in front of their hometown crowd, while Chris Borich will seek to continue his domination of the 2013 season.
