Main Race Report
Before the main event track announcer Robbie
Whitehead gave each of the pro riders an introduction
and parade lap as he announced their many sponsors.
Once the racers were set and ready to go, the
quads came off the line fast and furious into
the sweeper at the end of the front straight.
As they came around the corner it was Frank Batista
and his Sparks powered Honda in front of Shane
Hitt. JB Racing’s Mitch Reynolds was third
and followed by Chuckie Creech, Darin Ogden, Michael
Coburn, Zach Willett and Brad Riley. Goodman was
in the eleventh spot the first lap
Batista, winner of round 5, and Hitt, winner
of round 2, were close throughout the entire race.
Hitt continued to pressure for the lead each lap
until lap 12 when Batista lost traction and Hitt
was able to make the pass for the lead. “There
was a little puddle of water along the bottom
of the front sweeper, I knew it was there. I got
my back tire in it and spun just enough for Shane
to get around me. I was fortunate no one else
passed me,” said Batista.
Batista stayed close to Hitt for the remainder
of the race, but he was unable to regain the lead.
While Goodman worked his way up to the 8th spot
by lap 10 that was as close to the front as he
would get. “It just didn’t work out
well after the slow start in the heat” Goodman
said. Mitch Reynolds held the third spot until
the white flag lap when he spun out in the infield
sweeper with only one turn left before the checkered
flag. Chuckie Creech, Michael Coburn, and Darin
Ogden were all able to get around Reynolds. Reynolds
was followed by Zac Willett, Goodman, Brad Riley,
and Brian Ace rounding out the top ten.
