Greenbrier, AR - The opening round
of the ATVA Duro Extreme Dirt Track Series at Twin Creeks
Raceway in Greenbrier AR is completed and in the record
books. With over 350 riders competing on the fast banking
turns, dual option lanes with tabletops and a nearly
400’ straightaway, there was some fast and furious
racing.
There were some new faces, familiar faces moving up
to faster classes as well as some longtime riders that
were visibly missing. Pro rookie Mitch Reynolds was
looking to make a statement at his home track while
12 time Pro champion Tim Farr, riding his new KTM in
the Pro Am Unlimited class, was unable to ride in the
Pro class until the KTM 450 meets the ATVA production
rules guidelines. Also, 2004 Pro champion and the 05/06
runner-up, Keith Little of Russellville AL was not in
attendance along with Daryl Rath as their already busy
ATV racing schedule kept them from preparing for the
opening round.

|
KTM debuted the
525XC & 450XC ATVs at the Extreme Dirt Track
Nationals with a stock 525XC on display for
the spectators to view, and Tim Farr was racing
a modified 450XC in the Pro Am Unlimited Class
because the Pre-Producion KTM 450XC wasn’t
eligible to compete in the Pro Class
|
Even with the absence of Farr, Little, and Rath from
the Pro class there would be plenty of competition with
7 time Pro ATV Champion, Shane Hitt, returning from
the neck injury he suffered last year at Dixieland Speedway
in Elizabeth City NC aboard his Sparks Racing Honda
450R. American Honda/Houser Racing's Harold Goodman
is always around the top of the ATV scene and looking
for his first Pro title. Up and coming pros, Frank Batista
of Riverdale CA and Michael Coburn of Garretson SD were
looking to improve on their top ten overall finishes
a year ago.

With all the rain this series saw last year, many were
calling it the “wet track nationals”. So
when the skies opened up Friday morning and soaked the
track many were thinking “here we go again”.
However, by the time practice began Friday night, promoter
Terry Reynolds had the track ready for racing and the
weather was dry the remainder of the weekend.

With a record attendance
of over 350 entries at Twin Creeks Raceway,
Terry Reynolds kept busy throughout the day
watering the track to keep down the dust
