- Round 4 - Sunset Ridge - Race Report
::Continued::

Baldwin
Racing's Josh Upperman placed fourth overall
at Sunset Ridge |
Baldwin Motorsports’ Josh Upperman was
in the number five spot off the start and worked
his way into third after Goodman and DeNoble dropped
back, but he was unable to hold off John Natalie
after a heated battle that lasted for several
laps. Upperman fell back to fourth, but rode unchallenged
for the rest of the moto and took fourth at the
checkered flag.
For the second moto, Upperman was in the number
five spot off the start and moved into fourth
quickly. Upperman held his position for most of
the race before falling back to fifth again, where
he would stay for the rest of the moto, giving
him fifth overall.
Number #26, Derek Swartfager, had an 11th place
start but kept moving forward and steadily increased
his position. Swartfager battled hard and took
his best moto finish of the season in sixth. Swartfager
did well and took another sixth place finish in
moto two for sixth overall, his best overall finish
so far this season.

Hoosier's
Harold Goodman rode strong each moto placing
him fifth overall |
Harold “The Bumblebee” Goodman was
looking great off the start in the number two
spot. Goodman was followed closely by Chad Wienen
and gave up second in lap two. Goodman then came
under fire from Joel Hetrick and Josh Upperman,
which sent him back to the number five spot. Goodman
stayed strong and claimed his best moto finish
in quite some time as he rounded out the top five
at the finish line. For the second moto, Goodman
held on to finish in seventh, giving him seventh
overall for the day.
Adam Clark’s 8-8 finishes put him in eighth
overall, while Jeffrey Rastrelli’s 10-9
finishes put him in ninth. Jesse Barnes hung on
to round out the top ten, with Jonathon Ven John
in eleventh.
Nick DeNoble was on fire off the start as he grabbed
the moto one holeshot. DeNoble led or two laps before
falling back to second. DeNoble was staying strong,
but a mechanical issue took him out of the running
in lap six. “I haven’t pulled a holeshot
in a while so it felt good and it felt good to be
out front,” said DeNoble.
The number 123 grabbed the moto two holeshot
as well, but a mechanical failure early in the
first lap ended things early for him. “It
was huge for me to get both holeshots, but I had
a little bad luck. Hopefully everything goes well
at the next round,” said DeNoble.
Joe Byrd, who connected with Thomas Brown in
moto one was disqualified from the event after
a heated discussion with the pro referee.
Round number five of the 2012 AMA ATV Motocross
Championships will head to Ballance MX in Oakland,
KY where Chad Wienen will be looking to further
his points lead.
