AMA Pro ATV Motocross
- Round 4 - Sunset Ridge - Race Report
::Continued::
Can-Am/Motoworks’ John Natalie, Jr. did
not get the start he was looking for and was only
in the number ten spot off the line in moto one.
Natalie was not about to let that slow him down
and he made an incredible charge and by the fourth
lap had worked his way into the top five.

Motoworks'
#13 John Natalie Jr shadowed Baldwin's
#20 Josh Upperman for six laps in Moto
One before making the pass to take over
the 3rd spot

For a while there was a three way battle going
on between Natalie, Josh Upperman and Nick DeNoble
for the number three spot, but the Ironman prevailed
and took over third place. Natalie began to close
in on Hetrick, who was in second, but the combination
of his hard charge and the heat, he began to tire
a bit and stayed in the number three spot all
the way to the finish line.
In moto two, Natalie was looking strong as he
inherited the lead after Nick DeNoble suffered
mechanical failure early in the first lap. Natalie
was not alone, however as Thomas Brown and Chad
Wienen were right on his grab bar. Natalie was
under intense pressure and a slight bobble allowed
Brown to get by. Natalie tried to take back the
lead, but came under fire from Chad Wienen.

Can-am's
#13 John Natalie charged his way back into
the 2nd spot & finished right behind
Wienen at the checkered flag to secure his
4th podium finish of the season |
Natalie held off Wienen for several laps before
Wienen slipped by. Natalie remounted a charge
and reclaimed second place after a long battle
with Thomas Brown, who had fallen back. In the
final lap, Natalie closed the gap Wienen who was
in the lead and finished just a fraction of a
second behind him at the checkered flag for second
place, giving him second place on the podium.
“I have to give it up to Thomas; he was
riding really well out there today. It was a really
close race and I gave it my all but I just couldn’t
get around Chad at the finish. It was such a good
race though and it was a lot of fun. I have to
thank Can-Am, Johnny and Motoworks and all of
our sponsors,” said Natalie.
