Racing's #88 Joel Hetrick charged his way
into the 2nd spot early in Moto One, which
he held to the checkered flag on his DS450 |
Hetrick was in fourth off the start, and rode
a smart and consistent race. Hetrick made his
way around Goodman and DeNoble to take over second,
but he was not able to close in on Chad Wienen.
Hetrick came under pressure from his teammate,
John Natalie late in the moto, but was able to
keep enough distance between them and take second
at the checkered flag.
“I got a good start and I felt pretty good
out there. I just want to go out there for the
second moto and do good. The track is really rough
so we are going to make a couple adjustments and
come out strong in moto two,” said Hetrick

laptime in Moto 2 & secured the final
spot on the Podium

Joel Hetrick’s start in moto two was not
how he was hoping it would go. Hetrick was in
eighth off the start and had to put the hammer
down and work his way through traffic. Hetrick
charged hard and moved into the top five by the
third lap. Hetrick held down the number five spot
for several laps before moving into fourth place
after he made the pass on Josh Upperman for fourth.
Hetrick’s solid performance earned him the
final spot on the pro podium for the day.
“I felt great even though the track was
rough. I didn’t have a good start so I had
to work my way up but I am on the podium so I’m
pretty happy,” said Hetrick.

Yamaha/Ballance Racing’s Thomas Brown had
a tough break on the start after he and Joe Byrd
Collided, sending both racers to the back of the
pack. Brown mounted a charge, however, and reached
seventh before crossing the finish line.
Moto two went much better for Brown as he charged
off the start in third and took over second in
the next lap. Brown battled it out with John Natalie
for a few laps and took over the lead in lap five.
Brown held off both Josh Natalie and Chad Wienen
for several laps before falling back to finish
in third.
“I had a good start in moto two and I got
around John and just tried to ride a solid race.
John and Chad were all over me but I felt really
good out there. This was a really good weekend
for our team and I am really happy to have such
a good moto,” said Brown.
