2012 AMA Pro ATV Motocross
Race Season Preview
::Continued::
Wienen is not alone in his efforts at forming
his own team and has brought aboard a winning
combination of industry professionals to further
his efforts. “Ryan Cox has stayed with me
as my mechanic for this season and I couldn’t
be happier about that. He is the best out there
and he really knows what it takes to win,”
confirmed Wienen, who will also be working closely
with Walsh Race Craft, FMF and T.O.P. Performance
Training.

Chad Wienen will be running his own program
in 2012 under newly formed Wienen Motorsports
& Yamaha Factory Racing |
To relieve some of the pressure of running a
team, SSI Decals owner and good friend, Ian Harris
has been brought aboard as the team manager. “Ian
and I work well together, and I can’t think
of anyone who I would rather have in that position,”
stated Wienen.
Despite a horrific crash last season, Wienen
appears to be back in top form and even after
only a short time with the YFZ450R; he is looking
as fast and smooth as ever in a video released
with our recent Chad
Wienen Interview
“I have been taking every precaution to
make sure I’m healthy and I feel like I’m
back at 100% now. I think we’re going to
be ahead of the game in March. We are surrounding
ourselves with the best products in the ATV industry
and working with the people we want to be around
and I think this is going to be an incredible
season,” said the number 44 racer.
Plagued with injuries, the last couple of seasons
have not been kind to Joe Byrd, but that hasn’t
stopped him from making his return in 2012. Joe
Byrd will be on the Honda TRX450R, but without
manufacturer support this season, he is having
to rely on other sponsors more heavily and his
riding schools to support his racing efforts.
“It’s pretty tough to find support
this year, so I am sticking with basically the
same program as last year with just a couple of
small changes. I’m sticking with PEP shocks,
and DASA is building my engines; and Lonestar
will be helping out this year as well,”
said Byrd.

DASA,
PEP Shocks, Lonestar Racing's #7 Joe Byrd
will be racing on a Honda 450R with out
Factory Support, and Byrd has been out in
California training / testing for the upcoming
season & this past weekend he raced
at the Yamaha
Quad-X Series |
The number 7 racer has been training hard over
the winter, and despite previous injuries and
setbacks, he is still optimistic about this upcoming
season. “The last couple of seasons have
been kind of rough for me so I’m hoping
to stay healthy this year and be on the podium
as much as possible,” said Byrd, who has
been spending the off season training in both
California and Florida.
Veteran racer, and Extreme Dirt Track Pro ATV Champion,
Harold Goodman, will be doing double duty again
this year with his focus on motocross and TT racing
on the side. Goodman is back with Houser Racing
again on his Honda’s and is ready for another
fun season.
One of the biggest surprises of the year was
the announcement that Walsh Race Craft’s
Jeremy Lawson would not be returning to racing.
Lawson was third in the 2011 pro points championship
and had begun training for 2012, but in January,
he decided to ditch his racing career and go back
to school to become a law enforcement officer.
Lawson was a fan favorite and we can only wish
him the best in his new career choice.

#708 Harold Goodman will once again be racing
for Houser Racing in the 2012 AMA ATV MX
Season aboard a Honda 450R ATV |
Chase Snapp, who was known for his aggressive
style, had an impressive rookie year, but he has
also made the decision not to return to ATV racing.
Instead, Snapp has decided to focus his efforts
in the two-wheeled world.
