Baldwin
Motorsport's #20 Josh Upperman finished
a career best 2nd Place in the 2011 AMA
Pro ATV MX points race |
Josh Upperman will be returning to the series
again with the Baldwin Motorsports team. Upperman
has been a serious contender for the championship
in the last couple of seasons and he is hoping
that this could be his year. “I’m
going for consistency. That is a big part of staying
up there in the points. We had a good season last
year, and we were so close. This year I have stepped
it up and I have been working with Tim Farr on
training and bike setup and I have really noticed
a difference,” said Upperman.
Upperman, who is known for his amazing holeshot
abilities, is a frequent contender for the podium,
but endurance has sometimes come into play for
him and that is something that he has been working
on. “I’ve been spending a lot of time
working on my cardio. I’ve always had to
work a day job and haven’t been able to
dedicate myself full time to training. I’m
still working, but this is the first year I have
been able to train this much and I can really
tell a difference; and of course working with
someone as knowledgeable as Tim Farr is an asset
as well. I think this is going to be a very competitive
year but I really feel good. I’m healthy
and I have a really positive outlook. We ended
our season second in points and I want to do better
this year and win a championship!” Upperman
stated.

Motorsports Josh Upperman has been training
with former ATV Pro MX Racer, Tim Farr,
in the off season to better prepare for
the upcoming season |
Upperman will once again be riding the Baldwin
Motorsports/PEP Honda 450R despite the manufacturer
cutting their racing support for ATV’s this
year. One of the few changes to the program is
that Upperman will be making the switch to Maxxis
tires.“We have been working with the 450R
for a long time and Mark (Baldwin) and Wayne (Meridian)
have done a lot of development with the machine
and have a really solid platform to work with.
We had quite a bit of success last season so we
are going to stay with it and just do a little
fine tuning for this upcoming year,” said
Upperman.

's #84 Thomas Brown |
The number 84, Thomas Brown, is back on board
with the Yamaha/Ballance Racing team for 2012.
Brown had a good season in 2011 and has stepped
up his game for what he hopes is his best season
yet. “I’ve been training with Chad
Wienen and a few other people and we’ve
also been doing a lot of work with the quad and
really getting it perfected for this year.
“I was on the podium three times last year,
but I want to be up there on a regular basis this
season and with all the hard work we have put
into our program I think I can do it,” stated
Brown.

#44
Chad Wienen has made the switch to a Yamaha
YFZ450R ATV for the 2012 AMA ATV MX Racing
Season |
It seems that no one in ATV motocross racing has
been through so many different manufacturers as
Chad Wienen; and 2012 will see him with a new ride
yet again, but this time, it is under his own terms
with his newly formed Yamaha/Wienen Motorsports
team. “This is a great opportunity for me
and it is right up my alley. I have factory involvement,
but I’m able to run my own team and I’m
really excited to be in that position for this season.
I get to run my program and have a say in everything
that goes in my machine and that goes farther for
me than a paycheck any day,” said Wienen.
