Marc Spataro's
Moto Pro Training Women’s ATV Fitness Challenge
Hunt Valley, Maryland (10/21/2011) - An
event held this summer was a first of its kind!
This event focused on the female athletes of ATV
racing. Coach Marc Spataro of Moto Pro Training
held the event at his facility in Hunt Valley, Maryland
and it was titled the “Women’s ATV Fitness
Challenge”.
Collaborating with racer
Kelly Winters, Marc was able to reach out to female
racers using Facebook and ATVriders.com. These
two forms of media once again proved themselves
valuable, as the attendance for the camp was high.
Starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday August 13th the
ladies were met by Coach Marc and trainer Emily
Fowler to discuss the days events, review the
riders current physical condition, and deal with
any injuries they may have. From there participants
were lead outside to take on the mornings challenges.

player to increase strengh & speed |
The first challenge was the Prowler sled push.
The Prowler is a triangular sled loaded with weight
to add further resistance to the friction created
by the surface contact as it is pushed for a distance
of 80 yards. These sleds are commonplace in the
NFL Combine and the ladies got a taste of what
it is like to be a lineman as they pushed the
weight using momentum, strength, and speed. The
goal was to complete the 120 lb. push three times
for a total of 240 yards. The majority of the
group completed the task but not with out issues
(the prowler is one piece equipment that can make
athletes lose their breakfast LOL).

240 Yards |
The second was a 150 lb. tire drag 40 yards three
times. Facing away from the tire the athlete is
connected to it by a shoulder harness. Using the
same biomechanics used for running and walking
the athlete tries to build momentum and drag the
tire as fast as they can for the given distance.
Much like the Prowler the tire drag is a compound
exercise that challenges every system of the body.
As demanding and exhausting as the tire challenge
was it was completed by all of the ladies.
