Galena, IL (5/13/2009) – Although
some bad luck befell Kawasaki Monster Energy’s
Chad Wienen early in the 2009 AMA ATV Motocross
Championship Series, the number 44 rider has come
back with a vengeance, taking the podium at rounds
three (Ballance Moto X) and four (Birch Creek),
and in front of his hometown crowd, Chad Wienen
claimed his first win of season in the AMA ATV Motocross
Championship series at Sunset Ridge. The win gave
Wienen a huge boost in the Pro ATV class points
race, and he is now within striking distance of
the Pro ATV championship

The day after
Chad Wienen wrapped up a sesaon first
win, ATVriders.com headed out to his practice
track in Galena, IL to check out his highly
taunted track and find a little bit more
about Chad, and he were also luckily enough
to have Yamaha's Thomas Brown spending
the day practicing at Chad's motocross
track.

Chad Wienen’s interest in quads started
when he was about thirteen years old when he used
to just ride around on his family’s farm
for fun. Always competitive in everything he does,
Wienen began to start racing at local races and
as the years progressed, soon found himself having
to make the choice between playing college football
or pursuing a career as a racer. “It was
a really big decision for me. My school had won
the state championship in football and I had chances
to go play at Division One schools, but I decided
to pursue the racing part just to see where it
went,” said Chad, who obviously made a good
choice.

Chad Wienen
lead his high school football team to
a Division One state championship before
making the decision to pursue ATV racing,
and through out his amateur career he
ran the #52, but switched to #44 when
he turned pro because Dana Creech already
had his number
|
When Wienen was racing on the amateur level,
he was racing with a different number than his
highly recognized number 44. “I was using
number 52, but when I made the jump to pro, I
had to change it because Dana Creech was using
that number for Nationals. Number 44 was my first
football number, so I decided to use that and
I’ve been 44 ever since,” he explained.
With that said, there is no doubt that Chad Wienen
is one of the fastest racers out there and has
the potential to take the championship. Part of
that speed and skill he possesses can be attributed
to his phenomenal practice track, which is quite
possibly one of the most technical tracks we have
ever laid eyes on.
