Uphill whoops, off camber whoops, technical rhythm
sections, huge jumps, with one even including
a mid air turn; it is one gnarly track that is
definitely not for the faint of heart or the novice
rider. “Even Josh Creamer was a little skeptical
about some of it at first when he came out here,”
said Wienen.
If Chad Wienen ever decides to quit racing he could
surely have a successful future in track design.
“I designed the track myself. I went out there
and walked the property and just got a good idea
of how things should flow and what I wanted out
there. A local guy here in my home town let me use
his heavy equipment and we built the track in about
five days,” explained Wienen.
Why design such a technical track? Wienen’s
reasoning is simple. “I wanted a track that
I can go out there and ride every day and have
fun on and not get bored. I wanted it to be technical
and challenging but still fun,” said Wienen.

Some of the most impressive sections are the
two whoop sections, an uphill and an off camber
that even Chad admits is a bit tricky to get through.
“I really wanted something different, with
different options, so I put in the uphill whoops
and the off camber whoops. The off camber ones
are a little hard to get through, but they are
fun.”
Another part of the track that would have most
amateurs shaking in their riding boots is a good
sized jump with a 90 degree mid air turn, but
to Wienen, it’s all routine. “It’s
really not that bad. I went out there and hit
it the first day and I’ve been doing it
ever since,” he said matter of factly.
But no matter how much practice he has had on
his track, Chad proved that anything can happen.
“Thomas (Brown) and I were hitting this
one jump and I usually hit it on the other side.
I overshot it quite a bit and flat landed really
hard and broke my axle,” said Wienen. Luckily,
Wienen was not hurt and was back out practicing
the next day.
