2009 New England ATV MX Women's Champion,
Susan Parker |
We met at Walden MX in Wallkill, NY were filming
began. Paul and his crew came out to get a little
insight into what ATV racing was all about, and
what Blingstar was expecting out of this build.
We also invited some of Blingstar's’ local
racers out for a fun filled day at the track.
Paul informed us that he was going to let Odie
head up this build since he has the most ATV experience
in the shop.
I will admit that I was nervous about Paul’s
decision to put the fate of the build in the hands
of such a young guy, but Paul reassured us that
he would keep a close watch on Odie. Paul took
the time to speak with the racers and learn what
they looked for in fully built race quad. With
his crew filled with insight they headed back
to the shop.
A stock 2010 Yamaha YFZ450R was chosen for the build
since it has such a motocross appeal. Paul Jr. Designs
outfitted the ATV with Blingstar's new Maltese bumper,
full integrated Factory Series nerf bars, and net
heel guards featuring the carbon fiber heel plate,
MX grab bar, and the new billet Dual Sprocket and
Rotor Guards. Up front, a combination of Walsh steering
stem, a- arms, and Fox Float X Evol front shocks
and a Fox Podium rear shock were added for better
handling.
Maxxis provided the Razr MX tires that were mounted
to Hiper Tech 3 carbon fiber wheels. Durablue hooked
it up with an axle and Pro Taper handlebars were
provided by Tucker Rocky. To top it off a DASA exhaust
was to make the YFZ450R sound as mean as it was
going to look.

Paul decided that the Walden MX track would be a
great place to debut the quad and give us a chance
to put some seat time on his creation. I knew what
Paul’s capabilities were and how talented
he is so I had no idea what he had in store for
us. I could only guess.
We all gathered at
the finish line of the track and Paul had Odie
launch the quad onto the table top. Let’s
just say the quad made a statement when it came
into view! The colors were bright and in your
face! It stood out no matter were it was on the
track like it was in its own spot light. Blingstar
has always been known for being a company that
stands out with innovative products that look
as well as they function. That was the thought
process behind this build.

for Blingstar |
It had the look, but now we had to test the function
to see if Paul Jr. Designs completed the whole
package. We quickly threw a leg over it and were
blown away by the handling and performance. Paul
and his team nailed it with this build and did
exactly what we were looking for.
