Maxxis/H&M Motorsports’
David Haagsma topped the Pro ATV Podium at
round four of the 2015 WORCS series at Lake
Havasu, while teammate Beau Baron finished
fourth despite a shoulder injury.
Lake Havasu is one of the roughest tracks
in the WORCS series with huge ruts, deep whoops
and plenty of rocks. With temperatures reaching
the 99 degree mark, weather was also a factor,
but David Haagsma was ready for action.

season at Lake Havasu |
Haagsma was in second place off the dead
engine start in the Pro ATV class and received
a shower of rocks for his efforts. “My Sparks
engine fired right away and my Maxxis Tires
hooked up, and I was second off the line.
I got blasted with rocks, but I stayed close
to the leader,” Haagsma explained.
Haagsma pushed hard and had a close call
in the second lap when going for a pass. “I
almost wadded myself up on a table top when
I jumped next to the leader and landed off
the side of the jump. I thought my race was
over,” said Haagsma.

Luckily, Haagsma saved it and soon after,
took the lead. Once out front, Haagsma never
looked back and took his first Pro ATV win
of the 2015 WORCS season. “It felt good to
take that first win. We know Havasu is pretty
tough and we were ready. My Roll Design/Elka
suspension soaked up the rough parts and my
Tire Blocks worked great,” said Haagsma.
Beau Baron had a tough time this weekend
after crashing during practice on Friday and
injured his shoulder but showed he has the
heart of a true champion and pushed on. “During
practice, there was a step down that I had
hit about four or five times with no problem
in my first practice. I was one of the first
guys out for second practice and I came around
the left hander before it and came off the
lip. As soon as my back tires hit the ground
I heard a loud noise and my swing arm and
frame hit the ground and I went flipping down
the hill. Both sides of my axle snapped off
at the same time. I got hurt pretty good and
messed up my shoulder,” said Baron.

Determined to salvage points, Baron raced
one-handed in the Pro class and still finished
in fourth place. “I tried to salvage points.
Luck was on my side and a few guys broke and
I finished in fourth, which I am very happy
about considering what happened,” said Baron.
As far as his injury goes, Baron is unsure
what the rest of the season holds for him.
“I’m not sure if I will be able to race at
Sand Hollow. I may have broken my scapula
so we will see what the doctor says when I
get home,” said Baron.
Barons’ injury also had an impact on his
SxS results as well. “I was in a lot of pain
and every time I hit a bump was brutal, so
I was just kind of putting out there and trying
to save points,” said Baron, who ended his
day with a ninth place finish.

David Haagsma also had a rough time in the
SxS Pro class when a mechanical failure took
him out in the third lap. “It’s unfortunate,
but I’ll be back at Sand Hollow and hopefully
get a win,” said Haagsma.
Round five of the 2015 WORCS series will
head to Sand Hollow in Hurricane, UT on April
17-19th where the H&M Motorsports team
will be ready to take on the sand dunes and
rocks.
