NEATV-MX - New England ATV Motocross Series

NEATV-MX Racing ATV Motocross Race Report
::Continued::

Troy Lee Designs / ITP / Can-Am's Josh Creamer came out swinging for the fences in moto two as well and claimed another holeshot! Creamer once again had his work cut out for him as it was Hetrick directly behind him off the start and the track conditions were not working in Creamer's favor. The two DS450 riders pushed each other further and further away from the rest of the pack and they careened around the hard-packed slippery course. Creamer eventually lost the front position to Hetrick and was forced to go 2-2 on the day in the Pro class and come away with a second overall for the opening round.

Josh Creamer

In the second moto, Josh Creamer once again battled with Joel Hetrick to take second place earning him second overall in the Pro Class

Can-Am X-Team / Extreme Miller Sport's Keven Vachon of Quebec, Canada came down to the USA for the opening round and had a showing that he was very pleased with! Vachon came off the line in the first Pro moto with a mid-pack start and was quickly able to pass his way into fifth place and then into third place over the first table-top jump. Vachon was able to hold off the pack behind him while in this position but couldn’t catch Creamer and Hetrick up front and settled for a third place spot for the first moto.

Keven Vachon

Keven Vachon made his way down from Canada to race at the NEATV-MX Season Opener. Vachon went 3-4 to grab the final spot on the Pro podium in third

Can-Am / FOX / Hypertech’s Vachon came out for moto two and appeared to not get a very good holeshot immediately however he avoided a first turn pileup and sliced his way up to seventh place before the first jump of the course. From there, Vachon worked his way around Mathieu Deroy and Preston Young and ended up crossing the finish line with a fourth place finish for the moto. Vachon’s 3-4 score set him up for a third place on the Pro podium, one of his best finishes in the NEATV-MX series.

Pro-Am was next on the line to do battle and with the same top-contenders, an added ATV to the starting gate, and two fewer laps total for the race, it was sure to be a tough and exciting battle!

Can-AM / Elka / FLY’s Joel Hetrick was on fire this weekend at Walden and proved his speed by capturing the number one podium spot in the Pro-Am class as well. Moto one for Hetrick saw him coming off the line with a sixth place spot but being able to quickly pass other riders within the first few turns, he caught up to Creamer and Young who grabbed the holeshot for this moto. Hetrick then pursued and put immense pressure on Josh Creamer who was the race leader. Unfortunately for Hetrick, Creamer had the track dialed for this moto and went on to take the win leaving Hetrick in second place.

Joel Hetrick

Joel Hetrick went 2-1 to secure the NEATV-MX Pro-Am Overall

Yoshimura / DWT’s Hetrick wanted to settle the score during moto two of Pro-Am and he did just that. With a much better start, Hetrick was able to set his sights on Creamer’s rear bumper within the first turn and pursue him until the time was right to make a pass. That pass came about halfway through the race and Hetrick rode out the remainder of the laps in first place. His score of 2-1 was just the ticket he needed to clinch the overall victory in the Pro-Am class as well and sweep the weekend.

“It was a great weekend for me and the Can-Am team. It’s nice to come out here and race against some really fast guys, but have a lot less pressure than the national series. I had a lot of fun and it’s great to come away with a couple of overall wins,” said Hetrick.
