Just this weekend Suzuki made its official
team announcements for the 2008 race season
confirming rumors that the #2 GNCC Pro ATV
racer, Chris Borich, would be joining the
team. This is the first time in his long-standing
career that Borich will be racing with full
factory support.
“I’m really excited about this.
It’s a great opportunity for me,”
stated Borich. “I had talked to Suzuki
last season about coming on board, but there
was too much going on and it just didn’t
happen, but this year everything worked out
and I’m really happy!” he said.
Borich had also been approached by Can-Am
and Polaris this season but turned them down.
“It wasn’t about the money. They
made really good offers, but the Suzuki has
been out for a while. It has been tested extensively
and has a lot of aftermarket available for
it. I didn’t want to be doing a lot
of testing into the actual race season. I’m
shooting for the championship so I wanted
a machine that had a large variety of aftermarket,
had lots of hours of testing and was going
to be ready to go,” said Chris eagerly.
Borich’s reasoning seems quite logical
especially when racing the GNCC where the
reliability and performance of your machine
is perhaps the biggest factor in crossing
the finish line.

Borich's final sponsor list hasn't been
released, but it is confirmed that he
will be running with Yoshimura, Maxxis,
Walsh Racecraft, HiPer, and Fox Shox

Borich's
Long time friend and former GNCC racer,
John Rowling, is now onboard full-time
with Chris Borich as his mechanic for
both the GNCC & WPSA Series |
Chris’s main focus for the 2008 season
is going to be the GNCC where he hopes to
dethrone 8-time champ Bill Ballance. “Bill
and I battled back and forth all season long,
He was my biggest competitor out there. When
we would get out in front right away it would
usually just be me and him out there and we
would be battling for the entire race,”
Chris recalled.
Borich, who took second in the points race
in 2007 and has been constantly nipping at
Bill Ballance’s championship heels for
several years, is definitely motivated for
2008. “I’ve stepped up my training.
I’ve been doing a lot of cardio; lots
of running and stuff and I’ve been riding
a lot more to get ready for this season. I
think I’m ready and I can’t wait
to race,” Chris said confidently. “My
endurance was already good last year, but
I feel even better this year.”

Borich along with many of the top ATV
racers have training hard over the winter
preparing for the 2008 race season,
and Borich has even raced a few Florida
Trail Rider events on his new Suzuki
LTR450 QuadRacer to work out any bugs
