Borich has also been sharpening his
motocross skills on the Suzuki LTR450
while training in Florida, so he will
be prepared for some of the GNCC races
that incorporate a motocross track section |
Chris Borich has been training down in Florida
for the past two and a half months dialing
in his new Suzuki LT-R450 and getting used
to the feel of the quad. “The transition
has been really good. It didn’t take
me very long to get adjusted to the Suzuki.
It has a good center of gravity, and with
the Yoshimura engine kit it has more power
than my Honda. We did narrow the quad up a
bit and made it 47” in the front and
I think 48” in the back in order to
get through some of the tighter trails that
we run through with the GNCC events,”
said Chris. In all, it’s a real nice
change for me and I’m really happy with
the Suzuki’s performance so far.”
Another change for Borich will be going from
a Can-Am to a Suzuki King Quad 750 for the
WPSA’s Quad Terrain Challenge, which
he will be participating in as long as there
are no conflicts with his GNCC schedule. “I
haven’t got a lot of seat time on the
King Quad yet. I just got one this week so
I will be taking that out and getting a feel
for it at home when I get back from Florida,”
he said. “We’ll be doing a few
modifications to the suspension and a couple
other changes, but that’s basically
it. We run a pretty basic set up for the Quad
Terrain Challenge.”

While
we was visiting with Chris Borich, we
headed to the Hard Rock in Ocala, Florida
to hook-up with Can-Am’s John
Natalie Jr for a few laps around the
motocross track, and surprisingly Borich
was able to hang right with Natalie
around the mx track. |
Last year Borich missed the first two rounds
of the WPSA, but still managed to get a 4th
place overall in points at the end of the
season. “It was really fun racing the
WPSA and if possible I’d like to win
the championship in that this coming season
as well. It would be really great to sweep
both the GNCC and WPSA titles!” He said
excitedly.

Chris
Borich was a dominant force in the WPSA
Series in 2007 winning over half the
races in the Quad Terrain Challenge,
and probably could have easily won the
championship if he didn't miss the first
2 rounds, so i will be exciting to see
how well he performs on his new Suzuki
King Quad 750 ride in 2008 |
With the combination of Chris’s determination
and new full factory support this year, he
may just have the right mix to put an end
to Ballance’s 8 year reign over the
GNCC title and could quite possibly take the
title from defending WPSA QTC champ Jesse
West as well. We will soon get the opportunity
to see if that truly is the winning formula
for Borich with the start of the 2008 GNCC
in less than two weeks.
